I stuttered for 15 years and watched helpful videos like this, even attended speech therapy for a year, but I never fixed my stutter. However, thankfully I found a book called, “How to Stop Stuttering and Love Speaking” by Lee G Lovett. I managed to reduce my stutter in 2-3 months thanks to his book and program. I hope this finds someone who’s currently struggling because it will help you improve your speech and even more your mind.

I for sure think Steve is correct about a lot of things here. Unfortunately, stuttering is not always about anxiety. Sure it can make it worse, but there are some people who absolutely experience this issue their whole life without anxiety. I wish it was this easy but sometimes stuttering can’t be outgrown or cured. We just learn how to better deal with it. Speaking from experience. But I appreciate this insight.

Stuttering is a mental block that most people can't overcome. I've had a stutter all my life and it gets exacerbated when I know I'll have trouble with a letter and try to force it out. Most people say form the sentence before you speak it. A lot easier said than done. The thought of being ridiculed or being laughed at just raises anxiety. Simply eliminate that thought and calm your nerves. Slowly that mental block will start to crumble.

The key to outgrowing stuttering is to gain confidence. I had a severe stutter ever since I was 12 and was constantly teased upon. I had low self esteem all the way up to highschool. This however started to change when I turned to the gym. Accomplishing goals in the gym created a better self image, this started to reduce the frequency of my stuttering until it was all but gone.

I am 13 years old and have been stuttering for about 2.5 years. Luckily the people around have never said anything since I'm so embarrassed someone will mention it. It is a real disadvantage as it makes small social encounters something I fear and avoid. I have to avoid certain words(because I know I will stutter it ) and so I beat around the bush leaving others frustrated. Unlike Steve Harvey, it is actually harder for me to read out in public for me. In English, everyone has to read making me dread it and my heart rate skyrocket. I literally breath as if I ran around when its nearly my turn. There is much more to say but I don't want to bore you. I pray God will heal us stutterers as I wouldn't wish it for my enemy.

There will be many situations where you feel uncomfortable and scared but don’t let that get you down. Do you see a speech therapist for the stutter? There are many breathing techniques that can help you. I also stutter when I read or sometimes even when I talk to myself. When I was younger I remember always being scared of talking to people. Even friends and family. Some „friends“ of mine became bullies because of it. But it will get easier. Don’t let others discourage you. Don’t let your stutter discourage you. It doesn’t change who you are.

Stuttering is the SOLE reason why I'm not more successful than i should be man.. and it frustrates THE FUCK out of me. It's not that I care about what people think. I really fucking don't.. however at the same time I'd rather just not look stupid.. in a room full of big dawgs, it makes me look weak. I don't let ANY opportunities slip away from me, but if I truly could say what i wanted to say at a speed that wouldn't make me look slow, man I'd be so much further than where I am currently. What do you have to say about the late studies that demonstrate a genetic cause of stuttering? I stutter as well as my father also stutter. People tend to stutter less while reading, singing or acting because that's not a spontaneous speech. The stuttering affects the spontaenou speech. Also, in music that is a rhythm that helps with the temporization of the speech. In acting, the person might had rehearsed that scene dozens of times. Finally, i also stutter speaking alone or with my cat, because I STAMMER. Your example can't be generalized for everybody. I agree with the statement that the emotional plays a importante role on not only the speech of who stutter but for EVERYBODY. However, saying that stuttering is "purely" emotional it's a LIE.

It is not hereditary. What happens is your baby and young child mind absorb the ways of your parents. It's monkey see monkey do. If your parents have you up for adoption and you were raised by parents who did not stutter, you would not be stuttering today. Giving in to ideas like it's genetic or hereditary will absolutely ensure you stutter for the rest of your life. Look up Lee G Lovett and learn how to street fight. If you're like most people, you'll defend your stance because it is what you are comfortable in. It lets you say "oh its not my fault theres nothing i can do aboitt its out of my control." Well you're lying to yourself and somewhere deep DEEP down, you know it. Take control of your life.
