That's actually true, mostly option 3 gives dark side points, does bad stuff, and makes your evil companions happier(increases affection) , so my light sith picks option one mostly

I do that just to see funny parts in conversation and to see what each choice does.

I did it today in dialogue with golem in Dragon Age Origins :)

Need to be quick sometimes though. Like that bit with the sand demon on Tatooine as a Sith warrior, if you mess up (as a light side Sith) and cause the demon to attack you, youll have like 1 second to press the escape key before its too late.

My first character was a Jedi Guardian, he was meant to be small... later in the game after many hours of being a lightside pansy I realised. Why the fuck is a 5ft tall man considered a tank? And my character looked about 14... so then I stopped playing at level 20 and went onto a normal sized imperial agent, surpassing level 20. The story has still gripped me. Too sad that I'm handicapped by my f2p status, it's like I have chains on my legs and EA offers the key for a price and keeps changing the lock every month so I have to keep paying for freedom on the game.

MMO, Massively MULTIPLAYER online, you look at the amount of people you play with in STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC and then come back and tell me it isn't an mmo, it may look different but just because it's different gameplay, look at how many people play it, single player games can't be played ONLINE with OTHER PEOPLE

Zeng Vuh I agree that it is an MMO. Single player game play cant be shared or altered by outside people. Whereas when I play my story arc in SWTOR my missions can be altered by other people. Example: when im in a cave and need to escape before it collapses but I have a bonus mission to kill 10 monsters. There are also others doing the same mission. So when we start to kill theses limited monsters everybody doesn't get equal opportunity to have the same number of monsters because of respawn times. So the fact that x amount of player can do the same mission at the same time can change game play outcomes in my experience.

The most annoying one is when you choose a response that would obviously be sarcastic in real life but isn't in-game, or vice versa.

KommissarReb I understand that even if we have choices its still pretty linear. but its very complex to do what you ask on a mmo. It is more for solo games like mass effect, fallout, elder scrolls or even fable. Those franchise will be more adequate for this type

Actually you could always see the outcome in regards to dark/lightside point even during beta. So it was pretty hard to get darkside points unintentionally (and really easy to fix by running a few low level flashpoints). Turning off visual corruption though came in about a month after launch. Not that any of your choices mattered anyways (only ones that did were being about to kill off companions during beta, but that was disabled when the game went live)

No, it's not. Try to turn it on in main menu, before you select char.

Well, maybe not, but only dummy don't take a look at (or on? not really sure here -.-" ) setting before he/she starts a game. ;) I had to set it only one time - for the first character I created. Then it was default, not like keyboard setting. That have to be specially set for every character.

Anyway, just to clarify, I am overjoyed about every other aspect of the game I've seen so far, but how my character acts based on choices I make should not be something in question. Having to make a quicksave before every dialogue tree just to make sure I'm picking the right one will be a little annoying, at least until I get acquainted with what the writers are trying to convey with their 2-4 word snippets that could represent up to a paragraph's worth of text, but it's not something that will totally ruin the game or anything.

in ways it can help portray emotion through the narrative sequences I can see why they went with it and the time they put into the audio work I have high hopes it'll be satisfactory for sure changes can be good I was skeptical at first then I went back and played games of both dialogue types and the voiced protagonist did usually create more depth and emotion than without

Justin Frye I have no problems with the added voices, only the limited view of the text that may or may not be accurate enough for me to be sure I'm picking the one I want. (Though having less options to pick from also sucks, but I understand voice work would make having the typical amount of 4-6 choices difficult.) So, I know that until a "full text for dialogue choices" mod is made, I'll be quicksaving before every conversation, just to pick every single option and figure out which one I want, and that's the annoying/immersion breaking part.

To be fair, a Sith is a Sith. They have a very long rap sheet of murder, mayhem and general not-niceness. I wouldn't blame people for not believing it. Although, it is creepily easy for Jedi to turn evil.

I once captured a Jedi and selected the option to tell my master that I'd captured them (instead of killed them). The dialogue came out as "I've captured them for you to torture". What?!

Its the same with the Black Talon flashpoint, where if you spare the General (light side choice), he gets sent off to be tortured lol At that point Im just, "...shouldnt the light/dark choices be reversed, as killing him would be considered a mercy?" lol I mean, we KNOW hes going to be sent to Dromund Kaas to be tortured before we even get to him...because Sith Empire lol in what sane world would that be a light side choice? Its the same with the Sith warrior when facing the Jedi investigator on Balmorra. Light side choice is to _not_ kill her and instead have her arrested to be tortured later lol

Dragon Age 2 had little symbols in the center of the wheel so you could tell the tone of the choice. Worked great. I can't understand for the life of me why they never did that again.

Yeah I still do that in games like these. Even multiple playthoughs I can't bring myself to be "Evil". I can sometimes be slightly bad, but not completely.

That's because it's trying to be KOTOR 3 after all yet fails at it. You can't treat an MMORPG like a straightforward board RPG. It just doesn't work. The fatal flaw of every MMO is that its story just CAN'T end when it's done. MMO is a genre designed to make you keep playing. However, at some point, the story WILL get thin. Or have serious screwups. Just look at WoW. It had a killer story with the Warcraft Series and then WoW ruined quite a few aspects of it. Not everything, but a lot is meh at best. Seriously, the only flawless MMO imo would be a player-centered one where the players actively shape the story... provided it has the right kind of community and a well thought-through system that promotes PvP, PvE, exploring and community interaction alike.

Proof that they should have just made KoTOR 3 and did a Dragon Age-esque origins system.

I like to create my character. I chose a roleplaying server to create her story and play it with other people who do the same. I chose my side, I chose if I'm on light or dark side. I chose my answers, I chose if I wanted to get involved with my partners to go further in the story. I like to get the good armors to be able to face difficult instances. Face those is to test my abilities and my skills. Getting the stuff is proving my skills and my patience too. I like playing with a squad of other players, each one playing his part, I appreciate teamwork and see what we can accomplish on difficult missions. And then, there's the competition. players versus players. You're in a war context in swtor, you push the story further and meet those who did their story on the other faction. You test what you learned on real intelligence and not IA anymore. It's another level of the play on mmo. You got so much to do and to try, you barely get bored. But yes, you end up having a need of something new, at some point. In the same way you finish other games. I admit some players are stupid with their obsession of getting the best armor. Some take it so seriously, their life seems to depend on it. But please. I played for a long time now, not all the mmo are full of those. Alot of players are like me. Don't paint everybody with the same brush. And it's not because you don't understand that way of playing, or aren't interested in it, that it's bad.

So far, the most annoying thing I've found with the dialogue system (after 106 hours) is that trying to get a companion's thoughts on a specific subject is nearly impossible unless you are already interacting with the group or it's after the Brotherhood arrive in force. For example, taking Piper, the person who talks about being wary of the Institute using Synths to replace people in her paper, down the Freedom Trail, I expected to have a few lines of dialogue along the lines of "Hey Blue, do you really think there are a group of people helping synths?" and after you find/talk to Des, "Wow, Blue, seems the Institute's been being horrible to everyone, even their own employees." or something. Instead, she's quiet the whole way there and none of the "your thoughts" things say anything about the Railroad. The only way I figured she liked what the Railroad was doing was the "Piper liked that" that pops up while joining the Railroad. I was also a little disappointed Piper didn't have some articles for changes caused by the PC in the different major groups, like the Minutemen, BoS, and the Railroad.

Too little too late. Both of those should've just been regular single-player RPGs. The whole variation between each class and class storyline is ruined by them all merging into one character 'the Outcast'. Сергей Сергеевич Nerd, when the game came out this shit was impossible. The Shit would turn off when you enter zones or change worlds and sometimes from quest. The games "options" through the story would not exactly let you know the outcome. For an example sometimes you'd try to let someone live and you thought they would with the choice you made but nope...you say end up killing them just like this video. The whole game was not like this but a few was enough to draw players away from the game to where it had to go Free to play for a reason not to mention the lack of content. It sure as hell didn't go free to play for being the best mmo ever. It had issues. The game now though is much better(more content over the years).

Man, no one ever does combat math in games. (-.-) As long as your damage output is above 40 per hit -- which it should be if you're actually playing a melee character -- Critical Strike with dual-wielded sabers is much better damage than the double-bladed-saber Flurry setup everyone keeps recommending. Not that the game isn't pitifully easy with any build, but...

MunitionsFrenzy I dual wielded sabers in KOTOR. I don't even remember using a blaster after I became a Jedi.

Im pretty sure ö meant that you can turn on an option in the game preferences so that it shows alignment gains on conversation options without having to mouse over them
