How I grew a large Monstera adansonii from a small cutting - Plant Spotlight

Absolutley gob smacking Jan, You have turned my world upside down with my plant care and growth methods. You are responsible for me spending over $200 at Bunnings in recent days, (wire mesh, spagnum moss, charcoal etc, etc.) Im loving your video's although I would mentiom that all Bunnings are not created equal. I live in Gladstone and we dont have anywhere near the plant stock that you enjoy in Sydney. Also, I know what you feed your plants, but what do you feed that cat? He is truely a king among felines, he is incredible.

I recently started with Alocasias, they are beautiful but their chunky mix dries out too quick and they suffer. So I'd mostly like to know how you manage to keep their substrate consistently moist all the time? Or the secret is just to water constantly? 😃

WOW! I am sitting here in disbelief of what you created with this monstera adansonii! I ordered moss poles for some of my pathos plants and "smaller" philodendrons, in hopes that the leaves will grow larger... then your video came up and I am sitting here in Bastrop Texas in AWE of your channel. Question for you, did you make your misspoke for this plant, it looks like wire rolled up around sphagnum moss. Well sir you have a new fan for your channel!!

i had a mayor rethinking of your impressive Moss pole growing method, because my selfmade moss poles got dry way to fast. So I just startet so build SOIL Poles, we´ll see how it develops

I'd love the spotlight series! Just put my (very ordinary but I adore them) Adansonii on a pole the other day and I'm so curious to see what it does with it. I know I won't ever have large foliage like that but I'm sure the plant will like it. What I found thought (Berlin based) is that I have to water my poles every other day (1meter pole, put 0,5-0,75 liter bottles on top each time). The soil stays pretty moist (just cocochips, pine bark, perlite, worm castings..) in between and bit of the water always drains through the pot. I have to carry all my plants to the tub before I water them and that is quite a challenge with my monstera variegatas 🤣 Anyways, thanks for your vids 👍 and pls say hi to Brad.

Plant parent goals 🙏🏼 If I may ask you a question- how do you prevent it from getting 'salt poisoning'? I'm not sure what is the scientific name of this condition, but it's when the monstera leaves turn brown on the edges because of fertilizer or salty water. I killed several aroids because of it. Thank you!

It's almost embarrassing how many times I've seen this video. Probably ten times already🤣. After six months of growing I realized that my Adansonii is not a Laniata at all 🤦🏼‍♀️, but it's still beautiful and will be kept. Today I finally received four Laniata cuttings🥳. I can hardly wait for the next two years💚🌱

I have started 5 monstera plants from seeds. They look good, not growing very fast, but healthy.

Much easier when you live in a humid climate as you do.Adonsoni thrive in high humidity.

Should I grow the same way my monstera peru?

I just love how you grow your aroids! What I have been wondering (and can't find it in your video's) is how you do the transfer from plants grown in soil to you soilless mix & mosspoles. I guess you can't just flush out the soil, pop it on a mosspole with the chunky mix and expect it to thrive right away. Do I make a chunky mix with a bit of soil mixed in and wait till it's rooted in the pole to switch to completely soilless? I have a few cuttings growing in water and a few I bought in soil, but I want to try your way of growing them. Thanks in advance, and please keep on making this content! :D

WARNING FOR THOSE HOPING TO GET A LANIATA YOU MIGHT GET A DIFFERENT FORM I got a laniata but not like yours. I know you care much for names but other than it being a subspecies of adansonii there are two forms that laniata can be. Yours is the double window form which has more fenestrations cutting the leaves when maturing but the normal form mostly has holes fenestrations in the middle when maturing

Are the leaves this size because it is a subsp. laniata? I rarely see adansonii this big and especially not after just 2 years. Is this a larger genus of adansonii?

You should plant a cutting next to a tree out in your yard and just give it basic watering and see what happens😊

Question, my moss poles dry out soo fast I feel like I'm constantly watering them and now my leafs are yellowing like it's over watered. What should I do to find balance?
