Hey guy! So I wanted to clarify what I mean by “mixed” in this video. I mean not having to be biracial, grandparent being non black or great grand parent having to be non black for you to attain hair growth. Most likely everyone is mixed to some degree in America and elsewhere, but I specifically mean mixed in the sense of my first sentence here. Hope that clarifies any misunderstanding.

I have 4a 4b hair and when I straighten it it’s halfway down my back, I have so many people asking me what I am mixed with. 🙄 I tell them the father the son and the Holy Spirit because I get so annoyed. I take really good care of my hair that’s it, I don’t need to be nor am I mixed with anything. I have 3 young daughters and the only issue I have is they hate washing their hair so that is my biggest struggle. This video was helpful, thank you.

I do my daughters hair every day! One has tail bone hair and the other one has mid back length… they are 2 and 4 years old. I don’t do braids, twist etc… I just shampoo, detangler spray , and leave in. They both have thick hair and I use combs and brushes every day…. It’s important to mention my daughters are biracial… my husband is Italian and I am Haitian. All hair grows at different rates👍🏾
@CammyjOfficial
@CammyjOfficial 2 года назад
Hello. Thank you for watching and commenting. My daughters hair would suffer if I did it every day based on her texture. She is not biracial, her hair thrives best when it’s in protective styles. If I were to leave her hair out then it would tangle very badly (learned this through trial and error with her hair). And course not everything works different based on hair type as well. Yes I agree that all hair grows at different rates which is why length retention is the greater focus.

@@CammyjOfficial your daughter is mixed tho, I thought I saw a video of you doing your husbands beard and he looks mixed. Which would also make your daughter mixed with something.
@CammyjOfficial
@CammyjOfficial 2 года назад
@lady Cinderella my husband did a DNA test and he is 86% African (western African) and 14% European. My husbands mother is a dark skinned black woman. We are all mixed with “something”, but 14% vs 86%? That’s a huge percentage difference in the “mixing”. The dominant genes 🧬 are African, and the vast majority of the genes come from Africa. There no doubt that my husband is black, even the genetics show proof of that. My daughter has lighter hair and a looser curl pattern, but guess what? My husband does not have that kind of hair texture on his head at all. My daughter hair light brown hair, but neither my husband nor I have light brown hair, nor do her grandparents on either side. My daughters hair texture is also very different than mine, and I was able to grow my hair down to waist length before. The notion that a black person has to be mixed in order to grow long hair is just not true. As have stated before, i know biracial people (black mixed with white) who cannot grow their hair past their shoulders. I also know people from Chad who aren’t mixed yet can grow their hair long as well. When I consider “mixed”, it’s referring to being biracial etc, and or having a split 30-50% or greater. Hope that makes sense, and my explanation add more clarification. Thank you for watching and commenting!

People also forget that the health of your blood is incredibly important when it comes to growing your hair out. You can’t avoid it. If you don’t have enough vitamin D or iron in your blood no amount of scalp massages will grow your hair because there’s very limited oxygen in your blood to stimulate your scalp. Even though my hair is incredibly healthy, the hair at the back of my head did not grow for a good 6 months because of my deficiencies in both iron and vit d. It was so so bad! So I put my hair in braids and started taking my prescribed supplements religiously. I was drinking green smoothies that were very high in iron and I was whipping up beetroot juices every day. At some point I almost had an iron overdose. 😂 Within two months my hair started growing normally again. And within a month I was growing a good inch monthly because I also incorporate Ayurvedia and yellow sulfur/MSM into my routine. In a good month I get about an inch and a half. It all starts from the inside guys don’t underestimate it. Btw I still do drink green smoothies because they’re very very good for you. Please incorporate them into your meals 😊

Definitely true info, my daughter just turned 3 and her hair is now waist length. And a key for everyone’s hair like you said is less manipulation for sure. We did not do the “cute” hair styles as she’s been growing up, she stayed with a lil fro and graduated to puffs as her hair got longer. Now, it’s definitely twists or several sections of braids. Hair definitely needs moisture first and then I llike to finger detangle first and then go in with tools. And I’ve told other parents that putting too much tension on a baby’s scalp for a cute hairstyle is not worth it. Less is definitely more and hair wash days/styling days for the kids won’t become a headache if you’re being gentle and not ripping their hair out. Thanks again for the confirmation and info!

Girl, my daughter is seven and her hair is butt length. I get asked all the time what do I do to grow her hair. I say the same thing, simple hair styles and gentle detangling. I keep my daughter’s hair in large twist 90% of the time. I am team finger detangle and detangle brush though. She gets web like tangles in her hair and I pull those tangles apart strand by strand with my fingers. It takes forever but it is worth it. I have recently fallen in love with the KAZMALEJE brush. I was skeptical but purchased it anyway. It works great. It acts like a wide tooth comb but it is faster. My other favorite is the ultimate tangle teezer. I am going to have to try that quench leave-in. I use SOULTANICALS Knot Sauce and it is expensive.

Oh if it’s a brush that acts like a wide tooth comb then I wanna try it! Your daughters hair is beautiful 😍! Yes SIMPLE is the way! Over manipulation is what kills hair in my opinion. Just doing tooooo much to hair can cause it to break and curly hair is especially susceptible to breakage.

Hi there I just found your channel about an hour ago, lol, and I have been binge watching since! I really like your videos and I was especially attracted to this one because it was for your daughter. I have 3 daughters and honestly, we all have different types of hair. I've never really had any issues with our hair and always felt pretty comfortable managing our hair. Last summer I noticed something was really wrong with mine and my (then) 2 yrs old's hair. My hair was matting and shedding and my daughter's hair just got so dry and mangled and no matter what I did to detangle it would not stay detangled. I couldn't get it to hold any moisture or hydration and all I had ever used on her hair was coconut oil. We both have probably 3b hair. After doing some other research and watching videos I realized that we had protein damage! I have never had any issue with this but it looked like all the videos were saying to create a regimen with apple cider vinegar and a hair mask. Since we all use the same products, we all had the damage. I did the hair mask on our hair,. My hair really came out good, but it didn't seem to have a profound difference on my 3yr old. I actually had more damage than I realized and in March I had to cut my waist length hair almost up to bra strap or mid back. My 3yr old, her hair just still seems so dry and tangled and rough. Do you have any suggestions on how I can restore her hair? It's been a few months since the hair mask, should I do it again? I used the African Pride brand. I also started doing my pre poo on her hair to detangle before washing but it just seems like nothing is getting her hair back the way it was. Do you have any suggestions or possibly a new regimen? She's about to start school and I have to get an easier regimen. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello 👋🏾! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment on my video. I would firstly recommend you take your child to see a licensed cosmetologist to get a better idea as to best solutions. From my personal opinion (I’m not a licensed professional), I would say that you could try clarifying your child’s hair with a clarifying shampoo and also adding some deep conditioning (that isn’t loaded with proteins). That could potentially help remove any buildup and coating on the hair from the use of coconut oils. I hope this helps.

coconut oil hardens as it drys on the hair and cretaes a hard coat witch prevent moisture from coming in and coming out stop using coconut

My daughter is 6 and her hair is waist length and thick. I have been trying to find a good leave in and even moisturizer for her hair. It doesn’t matter what I put in it, when her hair dries it is so DRY. I normally twist or braid it up and leave it alone for 2-3 weeks because it’s a lot to handle. If only I can find a really good moisturizing product for her hair. (Even though the products I use I don’t care for, I still continue to moisturize and seal in an effort to keep her hair moisturized if that makes sense) I will try the products you’ve mentioned.

You’re welcome! So the deep conditioning might be adding to the issues of lack of moisture. Depending on how often you wash the hair plus deep conditioning every time is could create hydro fatigue of the hair making it actually harder for the hair to stay moisturized. Definitely test out the products and see but also maybe consider cutting back on how often you do the deep conditioner. Hope this helps.

I have 4 daughters but only 2 who need the whole routine (1 is a baby the other can basically do her own). But what I have found that works is if I do box braids in my oldest one day then the next week same day do the other. So basically offset their wash and style days so it's not a literal all day thing. This gives us all time to take breaks and eat etc throughout a process but everyone still is tended to (hair) at a timely manner. I'm a mom of 5 and those 2 girls alone could take as much as 12 hours put together. You're only one person mama. Make it work without wearing yourself out.

What do you think about leaving your hair in a twist or braid when you wash it? I've been doing that for years and I think it might be helping. Like, very non-tangled and oiled when I braid it and I just let the soap run through my hair-no rubbing. I massage the soap or clay into my scalp but that's the only rubbing I do. Wonderful video, I love this. My hair type is different from yours (I am from India) but interestingly I grew up with many of these same tips! Consistent routine, wide tooth comb, detangling from the bottom first, simple hairstyles and I rarely do heat styling, or coloring. I have an oily scalp so I grew up washing it too much, but now with my 1 year old daughter I only shampoo hers once per week. Something that was alway routine for me was doing coconut hair oil, and my mother would massage that into my scalp as long as I can remember. It was so relaxing, and bonding time with her, but also conditioning it overnight, and stimulating good blood flow to the follicles. 🙂
