Hi! Beneficial bacteria and fungi are able to grow that's why we use molasses regularly...so if you use only a few grams (2 or 3g) that you crushed into a powder and dip the tap root with it would be enough (you will get the same results since it will grow with the roots anyway...and you are sure to get a great start...it won't hurt roots at all!) And many growers prooved that 24/0 is nonsense...even for autos...20/4 is the best since there's no difference (and if you use IR 15mn before lights off and 15mn after you will get even more as it helps plants to induce sleep faster... It could make a few nice episodes...and save you money!
What spectrum lamp are you using - full spectrum or something specific to grow/ bloom? Also what are the on/off-times you are using? Thank you! Great videos 🙂
given fungi self replicate, I suspect you don't need 35g of that... do us a side by side test once you get a baseline soil mix, now that you got away from that cheap wal stuff.
@@corallaroc2946 heyo, i know all the models, sadly :D. its a SF4000. You can check it, regardless from that bloom/grow lights suck and are rare. There are a few only flowering LEDs, but even them, not worthy. You can rather by deepred light bars straight and combine them with your fullspectrum, everything else i consider a money and enerygwaste. Hope that helps+bit useful extra. If you looking for top lights check Viparspectra XS1500pro for 60x60 tents or for bigger ones Marshydro FCE4800 or Viparspectra KS(forgot the model). Very pricy but top lights are from HLG. Very cheap lights but still banging are from FISSION. And never buy less than 150 Watts, you wont be happy with it on the long run
With organic soil, you want to moisten the mix so it doesn't get hydrophobic. The reason it gets dry and repels water is the microbes make a hard layer to help block in moisture. So water slow then fast. WOW great videos!
I suggest you to get some tools. With this kind of soil you should spray the water on. You must give her water slowly. Plant sprayer or water can will be enough.❤
I had that same problem the first time I used Gaia green soil.. I switched to fabric pots and I would get run off still, but the pots suck it all back up in a few minutes .. needless to say I run all fabric now and have switched to fox farm happy frog with the Gaia green amendments, worm castings , and mycos… just as good. Cheaper price ..
I am very glad that you finally switched to the good side of the Force. You should use an irrigation system with a Living Soil because it must always remain moist and not moist, dry, moist dry. Making a compost tea every 2 weeks will save any microbiome that has become too dry. The best system is the Blumat System and you should use Cover Crops from various types of clover, mustard, oil radish etc. . Mulching prevents drying out and when you mow the Cover Crops you can leave them in the pot and the earthworms will turn them into nutrients for the plant. I got some extra worms from a worm farm, which constantly provide nutrients for the plant and loosen up the soil. It is best if you do not grow in flower pots but in beds with 250 L of Living Soil. Predatory mites help against the fungus gnats, then you don't see so much on the yellow boards anymore . Greets from Germany
To prevent bugs you can bake your soil or put it in a bag and sterilize it like you would for shrooms... also I like the p.h. at a 6.0. It helps free up more of the nutrients in the soil and keep from getting root lock. Also you can add 1 drop of dawn dish soap to your water to break the surface tension and the water will go deeper. Also while you may be saving water by growing in the ceramic pot... if you get a plastic planter and punch a bunch of holes in it with a tray under it you'll get more air to the roots and almost double your yield...👍
thats the problem when you growing from seeds in ""dry soil", its better to start with good measure moistue in the soil and 1-4 times every day you making a quick watering only for the top 1+ cm of your soil, i have a thin 30-35cm long amazon moisture measure tool, and it works quiet well, so,,, every day i check the moisture and also i give little watering and i have the best moisture level **every day** nice weekend and best greetings from germany
risky cause you can too easily over saturate the soil and slow development in early life, and autos hate that....better start with properly hydrates entire soil (30l in this case in the video), then water gentle once a week from the top ith a sprayer and once a week from the bottom by soaking in a pan for 1 minute. my experience, keep the top from getting bone dry with a sprayer and water from the bottom. Different methods work, but I do know for sure, your soil likes to breath.
I had the same problem you had with dry soil, I think we both didn't consider the soil had to be kept a little moist when the plant is still small, so you dried out your soil in the first weeks, now in the next grow I keep my fabric pots always a little moist to prevent it from happening again, also using living soil. Wish me luck guys, greetings from legal germany
Oh my God dude, worm castings are magical. I’ve put them as a top dressing on sick plants in other peoples grows and had the plants come back amazingly strong.
With light airy soil i always completely flush it once a week with 2/3 gallons. Of cousre you need a tray that'll handle the run off. No good if soil stays dry after watering. My pots are elevated from tray and i dump tray continuously throughout the day untill no more is in tray. I know ppl will say im losing nutrients by doing that but i can supplement as needed with a top coat.
You should look for other growers videos...my autos outdoor in 18L plastic pots are 4 times bigger...and I use 10 year old soil with only natural amendments and fermented plants juices I make myself! 24 hours of light is a complete waste of energy plants need to sleep to be healthy... If you want to water your plant easily you just need to weight with your muscles the pot when it's full of water...it must be heavy...print this sensation in your muscles memory and you will know by the weight if you need to water it's easy!(but you have to keep in mind that the plant weight add to with time!) In fact autos are harder to grow than photos fems...you can't make a mistake on an auto and it's pretty easy to make some even for an experienced grower and I do it since 1997! If I was in Germany I would go with fast flowering plants since the weather conditions allows it outdoor...but indoor autos are useless...who can't switch from 18/6 to 12/12 🙄...and there's a world between autos taste and effects and photos...and I don't even talk about dry weight which is night and day!😉 Have a lifted one and lots of good vibes from France growers family
@@loganleborgne420size DOES matter. In got some in 11L Pots and some in 19L Pots. The one in the 19L Pots are about 40% higher and were about 8 Days earlier in Bloom
I really like his videos and how he produces them. He does it in his own way. Thats why the series is called "How I Grow" and not "How Logan Would Grow". Maybe he does some mistakes, but overall, his plants always looking great IMO.
yeah, I learned this lesson the hard way with organic soils especially when you build it from scratch you have to pre wet and mix the soil as you go, or it will remain hydrophobic. what I do is fill half the container with soil then mix with water with my hands until it's pretty wet then fill it up the rest of the way and do the same thing again. hope this helps : ]
I smirk at the exact measuring of the water. People seem to make a science out of growing their stuff. If the water doesnt seep in well, wet the surface with a water sprayer and then water. You can poke channels in the earth through which the water can run down through and dissipate into the earth on the way down. If your pots have holes in the bottom, like yours do, you cant overwater your plants. Just make sure, the plant doesnt sit in the puddle running out the bottom. Empty the little tray the pot sits on. It was helpful to see the training. Thanks for sharing.
Please look into the different ways water interacts with aggregate. Due to surface tensions there are different types of water in the “ground”. Free, available and unavailable water. Also the beneficial bacteria in the soil need water to survive and thrive, so keeping things moist means things are alive. Another important thing to remember is nutrient uptake only happens for 15min after the root zone drops in temp from watering. Thanks for sharing 🤘
If you cover the soil in straw it will help you mantain moisture levels. A mulch layer in living soil is a game changer. You can top dress with out the amendments drying out and halting the decomp process.everything becomes available quicker, and all your becificial microbs from the worm casting and micoryza dont die from drying out.
Once you let any kind of soil medium fully dry out for too long, it can go hydrophobic and once hydrophobic it can be incredibly difficult to get your medium to take up water again. Have you tried a slightly deeper cache tray and allowing the medium to drink from the bottom? that has usually worked for me to save a variety of hydrophobic soil mediums. Best of luck to you on future living soil grows.
@@TheAfliction I haven't deleted any comments. A lot of my replies are getting deleted too :( It's too late to try that now, but it's a good idea. I haven't had this issue with promix-hp, so I'll be doing my next gaia green mix in that.
We had the same problems growing indoor organic. Then we changed to daily waterin or every other day and the plants were loving it and we had no more runoff with the full amount of water.
@@ehrenamtlicherehrenmann4152 I always heard or read too much water was bad. daily watering Watering or ever other day sounds a LOT but curious about trying it !
In the garden where plants lie in wait, Water flows to their roots, never late, It helps them to grow, with a steady flow, Making sure their development's great.
Man i tried growing autos once but i like photos better. I like being able to control when they flower and know how much to expect. It is nice to have multiple plants going in veg and flower all in the same tent
Something I've always liked about your videos is your straight forward approach. You explain things without bad music or stupid terminology- don't feel bad about informing your viewers that the water is dechlorinated, it's an important thing for a beginner to know
Hey, love to see you trying out living soil and of course love your content ❤️. May I give you advice to change your watering methods. Microorganisms must have a wet surrounding to thrive. In case of drying out to much, the organisms die and need days to weeks to recover. Watering each or other day is really recommended or using something like Blumat for easy solution. Good luck and enjoy your organic fruits. It’s absolutely worth it ✌️
feel like i learned so much about growing, just to try stuff out, especially with lst... had a blast, second run and i feel it pays off alot. also i still love to just watch your videos, such a vibe. thanks and greetings from germany bro 👌👌
I’m always so liberal, with the water during seedling phase. I’ve been doing this for over a decade and last grow I managed to let my seedlings almost stretch too much. 😂 this really keeps you on your toes.
In living organic soil you want to maintain a consistent moisture level so the microbes can do their job. I never have any dry back days! Specially in the top few inches of soil (the rhizosphere). This is where the microbes and fungi colonize.
You sound like the one to know the answer to this. I have some crap Walmart dirt, I would say around 25 gallons in a tote. I got some fishing worms and dumped them in. I put some organics in when there don't seem to be any left. I also have a tomato plant and 2 bell pepper plants in the dirt. Will the worms work or die off?
@@Loan--Wolf so was they earth worms or red worms?? Earth worms go deeper down and red worms work top few inches of soil. I use nothing but red worms. They self regulate due to their environment and availability of food. As long as you don’t drown the soil or dry it out to much they will be in there doing their job. Hope this helps!!
@@mrtricombs476 they are red wigglers thanks this is pretty much my thinking was what could it hurt they was in bad shape when i got them and i dont know how many are still alive but the plants seem to be doing very good
@@Loan--Wolf yeah I’m sure they are just n there. When I would dump my indoor plant soil in my outdoor garden I would see adult worms and babies so they definitely keep their population sustained.
I use a field stone, toss it ontop of the soil. put mykos under that. roots love that zone on a hot dry afternoon. plants stay happy. worms are happy there too. i put a brick ontop of 1 plant to keep a chipmunk out.
Water on leaves CAN burn them. This applies to many plants. Your soil appears to contain lots of coco coir, which is dried and often compacted into bricks when transported. It has to be broken apart and given a little time to absorb moisture. If this is what's happening, I suggest trying to add some water to your living soil next time and mix it around to try and break it up beforehand. Nice video, good luck.
@@zebrakadaver1933 Ich bin first time grower mit Autoflower.
Our Social Club will use living soil and I'm pretty stoked about learning more about it here! Crazy how fast she went into blooming and still looking decent. Love from GER 💚
you are correct in organic growing that does not matter- you pretty much never have to worry about pH, I noticed as well because the soil always has a lot of calcium and magnesium
I'm growing a few now..and one of them was a shorty...I folded that thing in a 90 degree and just let it grow....6 weeks later all the node's that were facing down grew up and tripled the top Cola's
Is it ironic??? I get more weight outdoor with cheap autos in 18L pots...🙄! 24 hours of lights...for this result...plants need to rest as us...and he put too much food for an auto...and he don't know how to weight a pot when it's saturated with water with his hands to be able to know when to water and it's basics 101...no dry period...just go on rollitup you won't be disappointed and you will learn real things! And who grow autos indoor under 24h of light in 27L pots (7 gallon!)...to get less than 50g...if you get under 1gpw under LEDs who got Samsung lm301h EVO diodes there's a huge problem somewhere...I pull 1.7/1.8gpw on average from seeds living soil (that I built not bought in 1 bag with worms in it!)natural amendments and compost teas...nothing synthetic and/or chemical and no pesticides (yes a mix of garlic grey tobacco basil hot pepper vegetal oil and black soap + a hint of isopropyl alcohol) Have a lifted one and lots of good vibes from France growers family
Ive had the hydrophobic issue also. . The best way ive found to get it started is to add couple gallons of soil at a time and spray with pump sprayer then take ur hands and work it all together to distribute the moist soil evenly. . Once thats good to go then add some more and spray a lil more and so on until ur done then add ur worm castings and ur fertilizer and mix it one last time. . The ideal moisture content is when u can grab a handfull squeeze it a lil but and it hold together or if u get a couple drops of water out thats fine too.. then u want to maintain that moisture content bcus ur microbial life must have water/moisture to move around and to survive in.. if it drys out real bad there goes all ur microbes and if u dnt have them and if theyre gona ur fertilizer doesnt get broke down small enough for ur roots to consume it and then u end up with airy buds thats not so good.. hope this helps grow bro
😮 your controlled science is fascinating 😜 outdoors nature has certain influences that make that tent of yours, Paradise to OG Kush indeed 😉 I'm fascinated by your craft. Thank you for sharing it
Hey basement magician, the fact that water droplets can burn your leaves is definitely NOT a myth. I had it happen on my first grow and then once on my second because I missed a spot. Both leaves had yellow marks exactly under where the droplets were.
I've always tried to remove any water droplets on my leaves. A lot of people were saying that it is a myth, so I was really just apologizing for saying things that I don't know as 100% fact. I don't like the idea of spreading wives tales, or bro science. It's possible that those people who were saying it's a myth, had only heard about it and haven't learned it from experience.. And hence, the circle of bro-science continues..
Bush it out. Yup. You definitely don’t need all those dinner plate sized leaves leaves either. They always look really cool when you chopped them off about halfway through veg. I had one the other night bigger than my face.!! Battling fungus snatch too, but winning with Mozzy tea neem n yellow sticky’s
I use coast of Maine Stonington blend live soil mix, I cut it with a bag of raised Castine mix by the same company, it has no form of drainage in it. So I get a big tote to mix everything (extra pearlite is very necessary ) Investigation It’s almost complete dirt.. it’s filled with wonderful things like compost bio-char, dehydrated poultry manure, EWCs, I add in a gallon more though
Wetting agent and a pump sprayer helps a bunch with even watering. I also shove a training steak into the soil when its being extra difficult and that works well
My second outdoor grow js started budding and im very excited to harvest as the one plant is taller than i am and im roughly 5'9 or 5'10 and the others i think are 4 feet ish but im starting my first indoor grow soon and im so excited
Mixing the Living soil with 30% coco will make it absorb more water quicker. If you moisten the surface with a spray bottle until you see its wet you can water slowly. I use a 0.5litre Water bottle with holes in the cap. This takes about an hour to water 5 litres but no runoff guaranteed
ayee! i joined your discord a few months back when i planted my first plant ever, a OG Kush auto and you gave me some pointers that helped my grow be successful, cool to see you growing the same thing and i hope you have the same success i did. i grew in a 7g plastic pot, next to another 7g pot in a tiny 2x2 space but the yield was pretty good on both still. anyway thanks again for your videos man
Shoulda top her. Ppl say you don’t top your autos but i’ve grown topped autos with great success. I’ve realised topping extends the veg state of autos and you can really get good results
From my experience, I haven't noticed any extending of veg time from topping. It can be hard to make comparisons with autoflowers, since every seed is a phenotype gamble. I always try to do something a little bit different from the previous grow, to keep things interesting. I'm happy as long as I am forming an efficient canopy. A few of my largest yielding plants were not topped.
Hey Bro , much love and Support from germany I Like ur content alot! I tryed First time topping my Autos, Like u And now at Start week 5 i have to say , there looking amazing Keep going
A qustion about the amount of water you give your plants why is it so much i feel when i give my girls this much IT will kill my plants. But maybe i need to give more then your plants grow much better from what i See
Ur my favorite grow channel 🙏 your day counter helps a lot to compare my own grow status to yours.. i love the "was looking at me funny" and i feel that completely. Some leafs just need to go 😂
I would never go back to bottled nutrients. I always make my own living soil and just throw water on it every few days, best crops I’ve ever had, best flavour, smell, taste, effects and the easiest to grow.
7:30 it is not a myth, but at your light range it shouldn't and it does require a bit bigger of droplets or water with nutrients in it which act more as a lens than even water.
hiii contribution of deficiencies I don't see anything else here. You have a lot of experience to acquire my friend ... I would say that you are at your beginnings ... good luck if you continue
Dude this Video feels just like the new season! Love the improve you did with soil. Rip Schulz Potting mix. 😅 Have one Question: How much you pay a month for 450W running 24/7 on? You life in Canada right? Big love from Germany 🇩🇪❤️🤙🏻
Also mich kostet das ganze grow Setup (50W LED Breitspektrum, 100W Blau/Rot, 2 kleine Ventis) knappe 7,5KW alle 36 Stunden Also so 1900KW alle Jahre Sollte bei EON so en 60er pro Monat Kosten
@@Basementganja that’s pretty good. I currently have 2 ladies in the garden when they finish I’m gonna switch to indoor. planning to get 3x3 with 250W. This might be around 100€-120€ per month. but still I’m curious 👀
In my experience with og's in the past, they were always fussy and temperamental. I was only really successful with 1 out 3 harvesting og's. It was a Larry og although it still came out kinda mid but I think it was just the strain. Man I miss growing.
When you have that dry soil problem you can do two things. First water normally and let the runoff where it ends up but put a plastic bag around the pot so no air escapes. After an hour take it off and check soil. If still dry repeat this over and over until you're soil is holding moisture again. Another trick would be don't water normally but get a few sponges and just lay them on top of the soil soaked with water and bag 1 hour on one hour off until better. Instead of waiting three days to water only wait 2, cut your waiting time by 30%. All potting soil acts like this if you aren't watering enough.
I have the Gorilla Cookies Auto from FastBuds. She’s 3 weeks old today. Already 9 nodes, Height 9 1/2”. I started LST last week and fimmed a few hours ago. I’ll probably use this vid as a guide for LST as it grows
Its easier to watering when you take a spraybottle bevor and spray The Soil waiting 5-10min and Then watering the plants. And you have to watering much slower. Sorry for the horrible english
I enjoy your videos. Youre a great grower. I also had the same problem as you did with the water running through when the plant was dry and learned pretty much the same as you, stirring up the top soil, water slower and smaller increments at a time is what helped me . Cant wait to see the photo period plants! keep on growin!
Very fun videos and this one was super as I have only ever used organics. Looks like the autos could use a tad less 4-4-4. Very beautiful growth those OG genetics are strong!
Trick is not to just dump the water in. Do it very slowly, a bit at a time and let it absorb before adding more. That way, you can even get to the point where it's completely sodden before you get any run off
I suggest you to get some tools. With this kind of soil you should spray the water on. You must give her water slowly. Plant sprayer or water can will be enough.❤
go out to the local forest and find some Clay like material and layer it in put about 1/2 inch of soil and wet the snot out of it the mineral profile will trickle down and growth will Peak as the Blossoms fatten up you can hydrate say one cup to 5 gallons of organic nutrition that will lock on to the clay matter and suspend sedimentary modulation is a old school practice right now today we can reclaim a Desert there is so much active modulation by nature itself
In organics ive noticed and im a new grower the soil dries out quicker cause all the microbes u have to keep it moist or use recharge also and water more slowly
