You as a Latter-day Saint are probably there now. Joseph Smith said (and I paraphrase) that you can be assured that you will be exalted, if 1) You know that God lives, 2) You know the attributes of God and 3) You know with out doubt that you are on the path of righteousness! For some that may need a little explanation. God Bless, Michael

Thank you! When I’m not sure which thoughts are my own vs. impressions of the Spirit, I turn to the words of our dispensation head, the standard works, the words of key holders who work/worked alongside our dispensation head prophet, the words of the temple, the words/invitations of our living prophet, my patriarchal blessing, priesthood blessings, other keys holders, etc. Often, this course will invite the Holy Ghost and allow me to Hear Him. Words of scripture or blessing that were previously inert or benign will leap off the page in that moment and carry extra power and specific meaning/interpretation, confirming a direct answer to my concerns or course of action/obedience.

Amen, I feel that it’s important where our hearts are.. we can give and do till there’s no tomorrow, and if our hearts are not in the right place. We are going in Circles praying among ourselves, but when we pray in Sincerity and honesty in unity with the father and spirit in our hearts, then Our Father who knows and judges our hearts speak to us in our hearts and mind.. the enemy distracts with worldly things that do not matter, trials of all kinds to rob us of that peace that comes only from above.

If the Holy Ghost is the way provided by God for us to know the truth of all things, why does this process seem so unreliable and inconsistent? Why do so many different people in different religions all simultaneously claim that they know their religion is the “true” religion because they have received a “spiritual witness” confirming to them that it is true? If spiritual witnesses are reliable, how could one person’s "spiritual witness" that the BoM is scripture from God and Joseph Smith is a prophet of God be any more "true" than others’ "spiritual witness" that the BoM is not scripture from God and Joseph Smith was a fraud and a deceiver? How can I trust such an inconsistent and contradictory method to help me determine if a church is worth betting my life, time, money, heart, mind, and obedience to? If past apostles and prophets testified that the Holy Ghost had confirmed to them that specific doctrine was true and modern apostles and prophets testify that the Holy Ghost confirms to them that the same doctrine is “false doctrine”, how can I trust that what they are telling me really is true?

Thank you Elder Anderson for this good reminder for us to humbly seek more ways to repent. Sometimes because i am weak my question is not "what can i do better" or "what do i need to do better" but rather, "which thing would you have me work on next?". Such help in prioritizing can help me keep from being overwhelmed, so that i can focus on doing that next good thing. So that i can try to do what is best instead of just what is better.

This is for any Mormons out there: When faith increases and your relationship grows with your Heavenly Father you realize the importance, severity and passion of the Atonement. Upon partaking of the sacrament with truth of heart, more and more the knowledge of this most sacred event comes to light. We cannot fully grasp what Christ went through in His final hours, and we cannot fully understand yet the full impact within all the realms Christ's death and resurrection had upon the universe. The more we come to the knowledge of the Atonement the closer we come to Christ.

Excellent question! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. I find myself praying most of the day but not only on my knees. If you don't ask you don't receive! With a grateful attitude, it cleanses the mind, not only that it brings peace to the heart and mind. This helps me to keep the focus off of me everyday. Sometimes it is hard to recognize inspiration whenever it comes daily. When I pray throughout the day, it helps me in my repentance process. It helps me to repent constantly because I recognize my weakness and even my attitude. It's kind of funny sometimes, I have a conversation when I'm praying, instead of a one-way conversation. Take time to ponder. Turn off the noise and meditate. When you have a thought, to get ahold of a friend or family member, do it. Ask in your prayers for the gift of discernment so you can recognize inspiration whenever it comes. Everyone needs this friendly reminder constantly. Don't forget, with every tear you shed each day, the heavens rejoice in your behalf. If you don't judge you can't get mad at someone. Ask our Heavenly Father daily, how can I serve the today. Watch What Happens. Always ask for truth and understanding and even the mysteries of Heaven to be revealed to you. One thing I can promise you, if you will make yourself read your scriptures every single day, you will start to see and hear things differently , you never got to experience before. All of us will get inspiration on a daily basis, we just don't recognize when and how they come. We all have the choice to do these things or stay in the dark. My testimony is these things I speak about I know they are true because I use these tools in my own life. Life gets better the older you get.

around 1:13 he talks about how it penetrates his heart and a warm feeling comes over him. i think hearing God is very personal and happens individually. it may also be different at different times. for me, sometimes it’s peace, sometimes it’s a feeling in my heart, sometimes it’s more like a burning. sometimes it’s nothing, and that’s ok too. does that help at all?

There's our own personal experiences he hears the Lord after he prays Joseph Smith heard the Lord after he prayed Lehi heard the Lord after he prayed Nephi heard the Lord after he prayed the brother of Jared heard the Lord after he prayed King Messiah heard the Lord after you prayed. And remember this the Lord talks to you in the way that you are prepared to receive it and he talks to you in his own way. Therefore the Apostle did describe how he hears him.

this is just my thought, and i am not representing the church in any way. i believe God knows what will be best for us and those around us. he knows that through difficult challenges we can grow much more than if life were easy. maybe the person you love getting dementia has helped you improve your faith or your strength because you are learning to rely on him. he knows the eternal value and progression of that person and it all plays into that. i know with disease and heartbreak and death it is so hard to understand how a loving God could allow this to happen. but i believe it is all for our benefit and growth, even when we don’t see it now. i believe it will all be understand and explained when we die. i know. not a very satisfying answer. but i encourage you to ask god and seek for his help and guidance through difficult times. does that help at all?
@peeupgaming9976
@peeupgaming9976 2 года назад
The reason why God doesn't heal people that are suffering from dementia it's cuz he needs them to go for that experience just like how I cannot be healed from my arthritis and I'm 22 years old I got juvenile arthritis that cannot be healed in medical terms and I had a blessing from a priesthood holder and it said the Lord will not heal me but he will give me strength so I can go through this trial. The people who have dementia I know that they can handle it it's their test and also in the pre-existence we talk to God to figure out how our lives were going to be the ones that have dementia agreed to have dementia I agree to have you in the arthritis and dyslexia autism ADHD. Just like how I won't be healed they won't be either because as now second counselor of the first presidency Elder Henry B Eyring give a talk about his mom and at her funeral the guy who is delivering the message said that her struggle was a polishing the Lord was polishing her, and then Elder David A Bednar in a recent young and married adult devotional share this story about a Elder missionary who was killed on his mission and his little sister was left at home he was there at the funeral and the girl asked him why did God let this happen and he told the girl I don't know why God let this happen but I know he knows so I'm okay not knowing.

The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. If we look , to see blessings and opportunities. Service the little things the door is how I hear him. The holy Ghost confirmation. Most mothers they have a way about them they have a , conection to children and daughters grow to desire this and men love the family conection by the mothers call and the call to Priesthood. It is opposition in all things. This conection that , happens some call it a bond. Some call it more a mothers gift. Some call it a extra Sense. The scriptures say Eve will bare the burden of children all the days of her life. This is the conection I'm talking about. Jesus Christ teach by yoke , burden is light. Light , as light you see with. So is , the burden of the Priesthood. Together as husband and wife , make One the burden of Light , a gift to opposition in all things is how I hear the conection of , the forbidden fruit to , covenants of the gospel. Its how I hear him and mothers have a way about them , to child a family. To cleave to your spouse is , a honor in doing so , and mothers grow to be a blessing and opportunity to help nurture the way the father the Son and holy Ghost does by how I hear him. To cleave to my eternal companion , invokes the service line to , Priesthood authority , so does a mother by the burden to authority the mother line to opposition by choice a law to heaven. Its powerful and can be confused are misrepresented as something different if we be deceived. The gift of , the mother to duty her call to the burden is no different than the Priesthood. Jesus Christ teach amen to your Priesthood if , you gain from it to benefit yourself. So by opposition this type of , burden to mother Eve to blessings and opportunities , is a conection to hear , is how I hear him. Its a blessing and this must be noticed by know. I see sisters mothers to understand this burden that is the yoke of Jesus Christ to hear him . Its how I hear him is by the burden to yoke , opposition in all both male and female , mother and father. A Priesthood yoke to this blessings A mothers yoke to this blessings opportunities together is how I hear him to be made One fold.

Mormon god is not the same than God of Christians. The book of mormon is the word of mormon god. The Bible is the Word of God.

We believe He is the same. The Book of Mormon is just additional scripture about the God of the Bible that has come forth in the times it was needed.

A "spiritual witness" is either a reliable way to know the truth or it isn't. If it is reliable, then all “spiritual witnesses” should be treated as reliable regardless of the source and regardless of the “truth” received by the “spiritual witness”. In other words, if a “spiritual witness” is reliable, logically, one cannot claim that his “truth” received by "spiritual witnesses" is more true than someone else's “truth” received by "spiritual witnesses", even if the “truths” contradict one another. That type of conclusion would be biased and unreliable. If a "spiritual witness" is unreliable, then one should not rely on a "spiritual witness" to prove that anything is true, including that the LDS Church is true.

Joseph Smith answered some of your questions in his history book. People lie.

@@adamholloway7963 This seems to be the way God wants us to find TRUTH. It's frustrating, I KNOW. From what I've personally learned, being a convert to the church when I was 19. ( I'm almost 70 now.) I've gone through periods of doubt myself. In regards to other people from other religions thinking they have gotten answers that their religion is the true one, I can only say that I don't know anything about their prayers and to whom they are praying. I have to let that go, and concentrate on my own personal quest for truth. Our third son, who was maybe 23 at the time, started having some serious doubts about the church. He had gone on a mission, and later was contemplating marrying a young lady. He wanted a confirmation from the Lord that this was the right girl. He prayed about it and went to the Temple praying about it, but no answer seemed to come. About that time, my second son's wife was attending the Temple when SHE had a very STRONG personal revelation that YES, this is the girl he should marry. She was so excited to tell him about it when they got home. But hearing that from her did not help my son. He wondered why Heavenly Father would give the answer to such an important question to his sister-in-law but not him. He struggled for quite some time and eventually left the church. He didn't do it lightly, but said he couldn't belong to something that he didn't KNOW FOR SURE was true. There's more to that, but at the time it really got me to thinking. And this is what I came up with that made sense to me: 1. I remembered times I had felt the Spirit. I remember thinking AT THE TIME that I WAS feeling the Spirit. (I make sure to write these times down, and all I felt when it happened, so I could recall it accurately later). Much later it is easy to doubt the feelings you felt. And to think maybe it was something you yourself had made up. It's easy to second guess these things. But I came to the conclusion that I had genuinely felt what I felt. And that if it was real and true THEN, it's still real and true NOW, and would ALWAYS be. 2. The Lord says if something entices us to do GOOD or to BELIEVE in the Lord, then it COMES FROM the Lord. Because Satan will NEVER encourage us to pray, believe in God, do good things, etc. So you can test some things against that to see the origin of the feelings you've received. 3. I think part of our 'trial by fire' here on earth is that we need to WANT to BELIEVE. We need to desire it. And that FAITH is a big part of our trials here. Here's what I told my son after many long and heartfelt talks. I feel this world was DESIGNED to NOT give us the DEFINITIVE answers we would like in the majority of cases. We need to CHOOSE to believe. Now this doesn't mean to walk blindly, but rather to search things out in your heart, pray about what you want to know, and what troubles you, and then LISTEN for the answer. It may come through someone else (as it usually does for me), or you MAY hear a voice in your head, usually when it's something urgent. (it happened to me ONCE). There are a variety of ways we hear the Spirit. When we are sincerely trying to follow the Lord, He will not let us go much off the path without correcting us. But we need to ACT UPON whatever impressions/answers/feelings we receive. That takes faith. Also, I'm kind of lazy sometimes and don't always follow through. But I'm working on it. I also told my son that it REALLY wasn't necessary for me to KNOW the church is true, DEFINITIVELY. But that I had had SO MANY small CONFIRMATIONS to my heart and soul throughout the 50 years or so I've been a member of the church that I feel CONFIDENT that this is the way I want to live my life, and it FEELS RIGHT. If I get to the other side one day, and find that I was wrong, I don't think any loving Heavenly Father would fault me, and that I would have a chance to get choose His way if this wasn't it. But, SERIOUSLY, looking around, especially in light of what's going on today, I feel more and more strongly that this TRULY IS HIS CHURCH AND HIS WILL. 4. I have found that when we get preconceived ideas about how something should be, it can be a hit to our faith when it turns out to be a little different. For example, when I joined the church I rather thought that all prophets (and men in high church offices) were next to perfect men or they wouldn't be called to these positions. Through studying the scriptures and personal experience, I found that EVERY man on earth, even those the Lord called to weighty positions, are HUMAN, and as such are afflicted with a variety of imperfections, as we all are. But THE LORD KNOWS THIS and works with us, and through us, just the same. Also, I used to wonder why Judas was called to be one of Jesus' prophets when He KNEW Judas would betray Him. I think that if a man is worthy AT THE TIME of his calling, even though the Lord knows that some time down the road he may fall away, the Lord still calls him anyway. He is not denied opportunities to serve for something he might do in the future. (This is just my opinion). I'm sure it's much more complicated than this, but that makes sense to me. Plus the Lord warns us that OUR ways are not HIS ways. We won't have a lot of this understanding until after this life. But we know enough about how the Lord works to make our decisions about following Him or not. I'm TRYING not to make this too long. But there's just so much to say. Things that were accumulated slowly throughout many years. I don't know if there's anything in here that can help you, but I pray that you will not give up your quest. That you will have peace and calm come over you in regards to the truthfulness of the church. I BELIEVE with all my heart that it IS TRUE. P.S. The son I was telling you about, his middle name was ADAM. A fine name you both have! The wish the BEST of everything for you!

Hi, just debate 101, but typically when you make a claim, you should make an argument to back it up. Otherwise, noone will be convinced and you just end up wasting energy.
