@@MsFarhana82 your korean version of kookie doesn’t make sense. 쿠키 is correct idk where you got 코오키에 (ko-o-kee-ay) from lol. don’t trust google translate.
The thing is, I wished someone just came into my dance studio and asked me sth like this cause entertainment companies who kinda "make" artists don’t exist. So if you want to become an performing artist you’d have to organize and manage everything by yourself and teach yourself everything too☹️
This is actually inspiring Something that I learned was that if you wanna perfect a dance, you 100% need to practice, I remember when I was trying to perfect the "Not Shy" choreography for HOURS. It takes time so please for any new dancers, dont get discouraged too easily.
Yea, i remember the first time i learned dance from her, it’s itzy-icy but i keep trying and trying and at the end of the day i did it. And now i’ve learned 5-6 dances.
I started dancing to kpop dances in the beginning of quarantine and I can see that I’m getting better hit I’m not the best and I’m trying to get better at dancing
I always have to remind myself that idols (especially like ITZY) work 6-7 hours a day on dancing so I shouldn't give up after 10 minutes of not being able to do it haha
This literally made me cry. I never danced in my life, I'm stiff asf, Im not motivated at all, I hate to look at Myself in the mirror especially dancing, I don't have much time to practice because of school. When you said you don't have a full body mirror at ur home I got some motivation because I've always thought that I can't start dancing without a mirror. I watch people's covers everyday because it's so fun and I really enjoy it. I found myself sometimes dancing when I'm standing. I've told my mom that I would like to start dancing but she said that I can't do it because I've never succeed at dancing. I'm also really embarrassed when I'm dancing and my mom is in the house with me & she hears me. Hopefully I'll get some motivation to follow my dreams and hobbies 🥰
I come back, let me tell you we all stiff body people can dance too. I try to learn twice I can't stop me choreography because I kinda love their song and I did it but I still haven't learn finish tho. What I mean at I did it was I'm making a progress even though it was slow. My body slowly familiar with the rhythm and move even though some of the move I can't do it perfectly. If I can do it too, I'm sure you can too if you really work hard.
My facial expressions are natural LMAO I smile every time I listen to my favorite song and pretend I’m the idol sometimes I almost cry cause I feel like I have fans😭🤚
You really inspire me to become a self taught dancer. It’s amazing that you can teach young girls like myself dancing and you inspire them so much! You deserve so much more and a hope you know that your doing AMAZING and please don’t ever stop.
you are self-taught? girl you’re literally amazing. i’m just starting out and super shy to record myself dancing since i feel quite insecure about it,, i wanna show my future skills to my friends when i’ll get better but i usually dont have lots of time to pratice
@@jenniffermejia4252 Hey can anyone help me :( i just want a honest opinion on my dance...and i am too shy to send it to my friends (or i know they will be nice to me )but i want honest opinion :( can any one want to see my clip? I can send it on insta( i am too bad at dancing still i wanna know by someone else pov)
To illustrate: how you have become one of my dancing role models now, I really can say that I am more proud. Honesty I aspire to live the same moments, but I am proud of you.😦😊🎀
I am a dancer myself, and I have NEVER seen a youtuber explain it this well. I have never been able to explain all the important things as a self-taught dancer either, but you did it so well! Definitely recommending whenever people ask me about dancing
@@valeryrivas8907 so I like dancing to the band blackpink but that’s just my tea. Maybe try a tiktok dance they are not hard... idk you have to search what you like😃
@@valeryrivas8907 I reccomend Wannabe Itzy. Its the easiest dance I've learnt and also the first dance I've learnt. It requires ALOT of energy so if u don't have energy u can try gogo-bts
@@minatozakisana3128 yes !! I recently started learning wannabe because of leia’s tutorial I came across and at first I found it hard and I still do, but it’s the pace and speed that makes it difficult now, not the moves. It’s only been 3 days since I learned it and I’ve improved so much I’ve memorized the whole thing just that I need more practice cuz of the speed lmao.
I've been wanting to be a dancer for almost 6 years now, but I would always compare myself to other people, thinking it was too late for me to learn, I could be a good dancer by now if I didn't had this mindset, I'll finally start pursuing this dream now so people, if you wanna start, just do it!! You'll regret not having started earlier..
I always say I'm too overweight to look at myself in the mirror while dancing, thank you for this video, this is really helpful and everyone need to hear this !!
This helped me to believe my self bc yesterday i was learning dynamite i was saying this is not good i do it terrible I'm not doing it right i don't look like her what's wrong...and this video of leia maid me believing my self and be comfortable leia if u reading this thank you so much i love u girl u r the best 😌💜💜
I'm really really grateful for being able to watch your videos, they are helping me soooo much, and this type of videos, even more, seriously thank you so much, in this last two months I improved so much and it's mostly because of you, again thank you 🥺
I started dancing kpop in February at home inspired by the kpop in public videos I'd seen. And I've literally been through all the steps LEIA said. lol If you like the music, it will inspire you to practice. I start "just quick 15 minutes" and 2 hours later... lol I started out with boy group choreo because I began with DduDuDduDu and I couldn't even do the basic hip swing side to side with the gun hands. LOL Now I'm doing full Everglow and Itzy choreos and twerking (badly, but I do it!). I started by not even looking at myself, then with a mirror, and finally filming myself. Yes, filming yourself is a big shock: no, you don't look cool or cute like your idols or LEIA, but in terms of seeing what you're doing wrong and perfecting your movements, it's unbeatable. It will improve your dancing immediately and immensely. As for facial expressions, just do what it feels like when you're singing the song: if you feel happy, smile, if you feel sexy, smolder. XDXD Also don't take yourself too seriously. I often send videos of my finished choreos to my sister in my sports bra, sweatpants and a hairmask (multitasking yo). XDXDXD (Disclaimer: I am dancing for my own entertainment and stress relief (and a bit as replacement for working out, and yes, LEIA's advice on that subject is also 100% correct and I'm guilty of it, and not seriously, so my experience might not fit all purposes.)
I'm so glad I found this video because I've never expected to be this inspired about dancing. I danced before but since covid hit and I have to stay quarantine, I lost all of my motivation to start dancing again, its kinda feel boring tbh, due to many factors that you mentioned in the video. This is lowkey a wake up call for me, I feel attacked when you mentioned how dancing shouldn't be the only way of exercise lmaoo ( I was like oooh.....how she knows?) but I have to agree strongly. I could barely record myself doing dances without feeling uncomfortable to myself bc I dislike the way I look. It is really just all in our mind.
this actually helped me, I am insecure about looking like a flailing noodle because I'm tall😭😭 but I'm reminded that anybody with any body can dance well if they practice and give effort to get better.
Damn, I really need to start working, I tend to avoid coreographies that require a lot of leg strength or going to the floor cause I know my weak ass can't handle that.
This was incredibly helpful. When you were talking about being too self conscious you literally mentioned all the things that i think about myself, and that made me realize that i really need to start working on my confidence, thank you Leia, keep on being the wonderful human you are 💜
omg love this video!! i learned drama choreo by your video and just found this! aim for progress, not for perfection! yay let's focus on what can we make 'better' not on what we did 'wrong'. Everyone's dance is different and that's the beauty!!
Love that reward system. It’s good because you’re setting it for yourself so you don’t feel so much resentment. Like when a coach or gym teacher makes me keep doing reps and stuff, I feel more resentment than accomplishment sometimes. But it’s harder to resent yourself, so when you tell yourself to do something and set discipline structures for yourself, I feel like you would be more likely to follow it. After a while, you won’t even need the rewards to get motivated 🌸
thank you for the "body image" one... my hand is too big for my body and i thought it was the reason my dance looked so stiff, but actually i need to work on my sharpness
“Aim for progress, not perfection.” Yess thank you for making this video! I love dancing and I only recently joined a Kpop dance class (at age 30) and I do feel out of place among the younger ones. I really, really love your dance tutorials as well and sharing your experience. 💕
My goal this year is to learn at least 12 choreographies (I've never danced in my life) And thanks to your videos I already learned 6 songs in just 3 months. I can tell that my confidence is growing up and that I'm improving my moves so much ♥
I can’t thank you enough for this! I was on the verge of giving up because I believe I’m not good at dancing and this video just gave me all the motivation and help I need. THANK YOU SO MUCH😭❤️❤️❤️
I get teased alot for my dancing and i really wanna prove them wrong. This video helped me push much more harder. Because a friend of mine told me that if dancing is not in your blood then you can never dance. I was so hurt by that. Earlier this year i tried to audition for my school's dance club but I was sadly rejected and I was laughed at by how ridiculous I looked and I Almost gave up until videos such as these inspired me to push much more harder and I definitely will thank you for this Queen 💖👑👑👑👑
Keep pushing okay I can tell you now that I've been through the same experience but never gave up and I made sure that I would become better at dancing and ik that you can too if u just put in the effort required
I’ve been in bed searching people’s dance journeys and tips so I can make a playlist with all of the videos so eventually I can start dance…I’ve gotten a lot of inspiration from Bailey Sok, Jackson Wang, Sean Lew & P1harmony Soul & Jiung. The ways they dance amaze me and makes me want to dance like them too!! I’ve discovered your channel (almost) a year ago and I’ve been in love with your dance covers and tutorials (even tho I looked pretty bad dancing) your videos motivate me to practice dance and try and get better at it so I thank you for that❤
It is important to remember, that the stronger you are when you dance, the easier it's gonna be to do and the choreography seems less hard to you. It will make you more comfortable and make you look more elegant or energized. It's also gonna be easier to be stage present ^^
GIRL THIS IS SO HELPFUL I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH ALL OF MY CONCERNS ARE LITERALLY HERE! ESPECIALLY THAT CONFIDENCE THING LOL THAT'S MY BIGGESUT CONCERN 🤧😂
While practicing makes perfect, sometimes its good to take a day or two off! I remember trying to learn a choreography and getting frustrated because I couldn't get it done well, but then waking up the next day and being able to do it! This is coming from a mainly self taught dancer with at most 4 years of training spread out over nearly 18 years + 3 years of gymnastics when I was 8.
I just started learning two weeks ago. I'm very self conscious about my body. I can't film my self cause there so little space, my phone has potatoe quality I'm literally not kidding its trash I don't have a full body length mirror. Everything's a mess. But I'll keep going. Thanks Leia❤you're truly are a gem
This is so inspiring and encouraging. At 36, I'd never thought I'd be able to learn dancing because it takes me days to learn a move. But the tips in this video encouraged me to go on. Thank you, Leia! This is truly awesome ❤
This is so inspiring!! There was recently a kpop cover team being formed in my city and I auditioned despite not having much experience because I thought “hey at least it’ll give me motivation to practice harder, and humble me yet also improve my confidence” but things didn’t work out with the organizers of the team and it didn’t end up being formed so now one of my sources of motivation is gone. I enjoy the thought of dancing so much (particularity to hip hop and kpop choreos) but whenever I practice I feel weak and like I look bad so I signed myself up for dance foundation lessons but now idk what imma do when I feel confident and want to show off choreos that I learned cause I don’t have many friends and they aren’t interested in my dancing and I’m not one to post anything of myself on social media. Now that my chance to actually perform with a group and do formations is gone (even though I might not have made it anyways) I’m kind of lacking motivation because I feel like it’s not good enough just to want to dance for me. I feel like I need to show it off to feel happy with it (Ik that sounds cocky lmao). Idk if that sounds crazy or not but
I’ve been dancing ( not professionally) since 2018. Learning kpop dances is a daily habit for me and I love it. I also take dance classes in school and that definitely helps. I really want to make dancing into a career! Thanks for the vid!
Amazing video, really inspired me to keep trying to learn kpop dances. You're the best teacher ever! Btw I'm very excited for your black mamba and make a wish tutorials.
My sister is planning to be a choreographer when she grows up for her future. She dances super well and she's the top dancer in her school! 💜 I'm not into dancing at all, i only draw really good and want to become a manga illustrator, and author when i grow up but this just tells you to not give up on your dreams no matter what! 😊💜
ever since i stumbled through kpop i found out they dance WHILE singing, and it’s so gracefully! i want to learn how to dance now too because i have a passion.
First of all, this helped sooooo much I do covers on TikTok and Instagram and I have been wanting to improve because I never thought I could dance well. I always blamed myself that I was too boney and my arms hyperextended as well so I thought it was that but once I put more power and energy into my dances it not only felt better, but also looked better. I have loved watching your videos and I even learned feel special from you which was so much fun. Second of all, DANGGGG YOUR SKING IS GLOWINGGGG~~
Because of you i managed to get the courage to dance to everglow's first in front of everyone at my korean club at school! It's a huge step for me but may not seem like one 😅. But i felt so good afterwards and just having everyone applaud you was something i never thought would happen. So i just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to do that :))
@@awesometani8148 THANK YOU!! Now I'm gonna be dancing at a festival!! still deciding whether to do dice or loco but fingers crossed either will be good
I am starting my dance journey today and I am going to use this as a journal. I am going to learn and practice foundations of dancing along side trying kpop choreographies.
You are so inspiring! I took jazz and ballet dance classes for about 4 years, and I was still a beginner when I left, so teachers kept telling me there's still so much I should learn from them, especially since I have no hip-hop experience, and that is what I wanted to work on. But because I had to dedicate dance class time to school work time, I decided to take it into my own liberty and teach myself at home. I started learning K-Pop choreo and recording myself dancing in 2019, and I think I have improved, but I never truly know since no one else is there to critique me. But seeing this video really made me feel like I am on the right path! You are an amazing dancer!
For full dances, maybe 10-30 For stuff like just the chorus or just a bit of the dance 20-100 But for most of them, I just learned them for fun (The number of dances might be off but in my KPOP DANCES I KNOW playlist theres almost 200 so.. ye)
this really helps, im actually part of those people who don t like filming themselves bcz watching the video im like omg it s not good at all but this rlly motivates me to improve, i know i can improve and i love to dance so i just needed motivation :))
I had starting learning k-pop dances just a few months ago and I was feeling very awkward while doing the hip movements of d-4 and I was thinking I'm stiff and I can't dance but after this video I know I was just uncomfortable and I shouldn't do that now .... Thankyou so much ... 💜💜
I remember back in 2017 when I attempted learning BTS's spring day and everything was actually quite easy except for that bridge like move where you stand up while bending your back I tried it for the first week and couldn't do it I just couldn't get up like my legs couldn't support me enough So I kept on skipping this move until I finished the whole choreography I remember being so eager to get this like I just couldn't resist this challenge So I started stretching my back daily I even got my bridge and my backbend I started practicing a backbend stand up And *then* after almost a month of practice *I actually did it* It was like the happiest moment in my life lol I even teared up a little So yeah practice makes the impossible possible so guys never give up (unless it hurts you in some way, then please don't)
I have stopped criticizing myself........but a few days ago I was dancing and enjoying and my sister recorded it and after that she said that I have no facial expressions and I am less energetic.....and that just get my confidence soooooooo low............ that I don't myself to be recorded 😭............she is always like ur expression are blank......and ur dance needs more energy......I am working on it ......but u don't need to say that again and again that's making me insecure of those things 😭😭
thank you 💚 thanks to you i have learned many dances fully, such as gods menu, wannabe, i can’t stop me, and more and more! thank you for your tutorials 🌸
AHH QUEEN!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH :(( you're definitely one of the people who really inspired me to become a self taught dancer and i really like the way you explain your points here and the confidence + body image talk at the end,,,, is exactly something that i needed to hear since i used to hate how my body and face looked while dancing. again, thank you sm for existing and inspiring me to become a better dancer
The part about the full body mirror: I don’t have one either lol, I watch your videos on the tv in the living room and dance in the living room with my family free to watch me embarrass myself. I usually record myself with my phone once I’m confident I’ve gotten a hang of the moves (usually 2-3 hours after I’ve started the video. ) because I don’t like looking at myself dance like a dying worm🤡. Once I watch the video of myself a few times, I recap the parts that look clumsy and then I do that QUITE a few times. Once that’s done, I will repeat the choreo times and times again, and then I do the same thing for 2-3 days. By that time, I usually can do the choreo pretty well. I then start a new choreo but the thing I do is I redo the previous choreographies I’ve done multiple times. That way, I don’t forget the other ones I’ve done and I’m properly warmed up by the time I start learning(I do warm up exercises before doing ANY choreos, I don’t want to break my bones.) This is the routine I follow before learning dances, I find it helpful so I decided to share it! OH AND ONCE YOU'RE DONE WITH THE MOVES THE EMOTIONS ARE A V E R Y IMPORTANT PART WORK ON THOSE TOO
This is amazing, I learn dance in a dance school but not kpop style, so I'm self taught for this type. Your advice is really useful, you definitely earned a sub!
This is still the best video about improving that I've ever seen - it doesn't assume we have access to things like a private teacher and studio the way a lot of other 'how to improve' video do, or even a mirror (which I also don't have...) Thanks! I love this video so much, it's so helpful!
