How I installed the windscreen and the doors on the Austin Healey Sprite MK1 Bugeye Build Ep. 125

The windshield and doors are installed on the Frogeye Sprite and you'll discover how I put in the windscreen to scuttle panel seal. I was was so focused on getting the work done that I missed filming a couple of steps.
One step I didn't show is how I fixed the worst hole in the windscreen frame so here's what I did... see disclaimer in next paragraph!
filled hole with JB Weld and let is set for a couple of days.
filed the surface smooth then center punched where the new hole should go.
carefully drilled a small hole using the bracket/stanchion to help center the drill
used successively larger bits to get to the correct size
tapped the new hole going very slowly.
new hole isn't quite centered but the screw held so I call that a success!
Just a quick disclaimer... this may not be the "correct" way to do this job but it's how I did it with what resources I have on hand.

Tha windsceen rubber folds onder at the front thats why its over the wiper gearbox mounts

Coming along very nicely. I used warm soapy water in the past to install the rubber seal in the bottom of the windshield frame. Now, silicone spray makes it so much easier. I also used the sun to make the rubber softer to work with. Door's look like they are right off the assembly line. Great job, great craftsmanship and great video!

I had a '58 that I purchased in 1969. Such a wonderful car. Fun to drive and no syncromesh is first gear meant one had to learn to double clutch. I'd forgot all of the little nuances like how the doors open in the inside. You could barely see out of the side curtain windows because the plastic was hard to see through. Thanks for the memories!

that windscreen seal is a horrid job and so is fitting the screen.

I was fortunate in that the rubber seal between the glass and frame is in serviceable so I didn't have to change it.

The windscreen to cowl seal rolls under so it’s not laying on the wiper gears.

Another great EG video, Ian! That windscreen cowl gasket sure required patience! I see that others gave you a tip that the front edge is supposed to be rolled under. Does that mean you have to completely redo it, or can you just loosen the frame bolts and push it under?

I've seen mixed messages on that seal. If it's supposed to go under then I think I can do it without undoing or loosening anything. Patience and silicone spray will probably be required.

OEW + Red + gray = Chef's Kiss. Marvelous look. Those seals are a pain. I just did the same seal on a new windshield my buddy Hassan gave me from a horde of parts he acquired, for my Midget, because the original windshield was delaminating, and wow what a PITA that is. I feel for you. Getting that gasket installed is bad, getting it lined up on the deck is worse.
