How I Intuitively Pruned My 13 yo SABARA Jaboticaba Tree 

That’s what the birds were saying “hurry up and open up that Jaboticaba for us”. I think they’ve got another thing coming. Good job!!

Great pruning George exactly how Adam the Jabo Pro would prune open up - remember in Brazil they deep water to initiate flowering so could get up to 4 fruit flushes over Summer or more - my large leaf Grimal has flowered again after recent rains ✔️

That jaboticaba has grown with a beautiful form to it, hopefully with the clearing out of the interior it will encourage heavier flowering again 🤞

Your Jabo has a beautiful shape. I reckon its the biggest one in Melbourne.

I think the shock of pruning causes the flowering more than the sun on the trunk. I have some in sun and some in shade that ive pruned and both flowered the same.

6:06 I didn't think birds had an appetite for Jabuticaba, never touched mine for years until this year, the lorikeets discovered it, didn't leave a single fruit, luckily I was already jaboed up.

Good job 👏 👍 I think you should get heaps of Flowers now on the tree with the Sun 🌞 light getting in to the tree now. Looks great when done like that as Daleys also say to do. You are way ahead of mine as my tree is about 10 years behind your tree been in the ground for 3 years and only knee height. I have the large leaf and small leaf one as well as the yellow one which is in a pot. For about 2 and half years maybe time for it to go in the ground now ? It hard to move it when its so happy as I do not want kill it. But at some time it going to have to go into the ground.

Your videos are inspirational alright, but being in Northern Hemisphere, I have to wait a full 6 months to do what you are doing! :-)

Great job George. By the way completely out of context I need some help regarding to avocado trees. I bought an hass avocado tree from Bunnings around 2m tall and was completely root bound so I had to seperate the root system for it would stimulate growth and roots to develop. I did that transplant in early September and still got no growth and loss what should I do. ( it’s in a 50L pot in premium potting soil ). I also bought a youngish bacon avocado tree from Bunnings also and planted in 28L pot last week and it’s showing signs of growth and was also root bound and opened the roots carefully to stimulate growth. What should I do?. Ps: And during hot days I place them under a pergola and give plenty water.

My tree looks much like yours before pruning and it has never been pruned very heavily. There is lots of advice on how to prune and precious little on timing. It is now March and I live in Melbourne - when is the best time to prune? Is this a good time to prune before a heavier prune later in the year?
