Hi guys! In this video, I talk about how I landed a foreign research internship in Germany. I describe my application process and give some tips so you can get one too! Besides the research part, I also describe the corporate internship process in IITs and my experience with it. Hope y'all find it useful!

Hi! you can definitely look for research internships in your third year. In my case, I had done a project in my second year which I believe helped build my profile. That being said, you can always look for research internships abroad or in India even if you don't have prior experience. There are a few research programs in IITs as well which you can apply to. For e.g. SURGE is the research program of IIT Kanpur through which I did a project after my second year. But a lot of students apply to this program in their third year and successfully complete their projects. You can even email Profs in India asking if they'd be willing to take you for a project, which I think is a good way to get some experience.

When did you apply for your internship? In last year of the college? Were you already selected for your PhD program?

I applied for the Germany internship in my 3rd year and did the internship in the summers after 3rd year. I actually applied to PhD programs after I graduated, while working a corporate job, so there was a 1 year gap between my graduation and the start of my PhD program

There are tons of internship available for PhD students but hard for undergraduate.
