Indulge and join in as we make a solar powered tea. Caution do not add sugar or other ingredients before brewing as this will increase the risk of food borne illness. Ingredients as follows. Loose leaf tea or quality tea bags. 2 quart mason jar. Filtered or tap water, (not bottled water.). 1 day of sunshine. Method of straining, either strainer or french press. Straining not needed when using tea bags. Enjoy.

You make the best videos whether they have harps in them or not. In the house I grew up in, my mom used to put a big gallon glass jar out on the balcony railing in the sun to make sun tea. I think she usually used tea bags, but the jar had a spigot at the bottom, so you could easily taste it along the way; and when it was finished she'd just pull out the tea bags and dispense right from the jar. Have some fond memories of summers as a kid, traipsing through the mountains and drinking sun tea. Thanks for the video!

What is the type of loose leaf you are using? This is orange pekoe but I prefer Irish breakfast loose leaf.

@@bebbcorpharpery7331 It's called: Lipton Yellow Label Tea International Blend 31.74oz Loose Tea. Got it on Amazon. I've been using only 2TBSPs for a 1 gallon pickle jar and it comes out dark. But it is really sunny here in Las Vegas.

We are using quite different loose leaf. You might dial your tea amount back a bit. Or try cutting your time in the sun in half.

Why is Kansas bottled water a no go ?

I was referring to any bottled water. Bottled water is really bad for the environment because of the plastic bottles. The chemicals in the plastic also can leach into the water an can cause an increase your risk of cancer. I try to avoid bottled water whenever possible.

Sure. Also if plastic bottles of water is what y I have it will make fine tea. I just would not brew in plastic.
