Oh mine! You really got luck on that. Ours have been 350k but recently increased to 700k and believe me when I say urs is bigger and finner. Still in PH
I have been a silent follower for years and I must say I love your videos, the authencity and all. I especially love your Japada series because I have been watching a lot of videos on this topic. Myself and my husband are planning to retire to nigeria and we have been planning towards that. Please keep them coming I am enjoying them. Your videos made me realize relocating back is not as bad as people makes it seem. Great job sis.
That seems to be a very good monthly budget for you and your family. Here in the US, we would gladly rejoice over a $300 monthly budget but as you shared the cost of living is very different in Western and European countries. It's always smart to include for miscellaneous items in your budget. Rice and different types of beans are always a good staple to help stretch family means. Different types of inexpensive pasta are good to stretch meals too. Dyna, the word Frugal should be your new best friend now that you're back in Nigeria. My advice to everyone around the world is to say that in these uncertain and in these unstable financial times, don't waste money on unnecessary expenses. Do treat yourself occasionally to remain sane but became a frugal person and save if you are able to save. In some western countries, eating out every day for lunch and dinner can be wasteful. Budget for everything you spend. If we all budget to live below our previous monthly spending from several years ago, we'll survive this worldwide financial and economic downturn.
Wow, what a reasonable amount to live off in Nigeria❤. Wow, no water bill😮. I can only admire you ooo. Life isn't that cheap here in Southern Africa . Great content mama Dyna❤❤❤
Once i leave canada, i should explore settling in nigeria instead of senegal, where you cannot even afford a 3 bedroom appartment in dakar for 300 dollars let alone canada which would cost you 2500 dollars in toronto burb😢
Life is generally different in Abuja though, to be very sincere, I have tried this budgeting thing a couple of times, never ever working for me. But I’m motivated to try again. I don’t honestly think $500 will suffice for a family of 5 here though, but let me try sha and see. Thanks for this.
You are upper middle class oo not many people back home have even half of that to spend a month. It is very important to plan no matter where you are unless you are rich man pikin
You’re not over spending my sister, depends on where you stay, and also lifestyle…. Your kids and her kids probably don’t eat or like same things. We are also a family of 4, 150k doesn’t even begin to suffice o. But we thank God for all.
Wow! That’s really a whole lot. I know you forgot about Nepa bill Abi power holding cos that one is another huge expense on its own. Now that miscellaneous could also be toddlers breaking down with cold , cough or general unwell situation yet still not enough. May God help us in Nigeria of ours🙏. By the way, You look more beautiful with your new hair do .
Seeing this makes me feel I'm overspending.we consumed sachet water yet my budget for food is way more. I guessed your kids dont eat that much cuz you tried with that budget. I will try working on a specific budget next months hopefully it work Thank you for sharing 12:38
Some receive salary of $4000-50000 monthly, rent and bill will take up depending up, depending on ur lifestyle let’s say 2,500 and ur left with 2,500 to save let’s say 2500x12 years 30000 you get to pay extra if u work on weekends, face it you have steady electricity, transport good water everything there for you no limit did I mention good network?? Mind you?? Some people work 2jobs so do ur calculations on that, if you have kids ur kids go to sch for free 😂😂, In nigeria only fuel done collect all ur money if u work remotely ur in problem 😂 solar isn’t even relabel u will need to pick time to switch it on, if not u sleep in darkness if you don’t have light, did I mention security?? For those living in north and south east understand that anything can just happen but just been careful of ur lifestyle,2 plus 2, if the government could provide security, or rather good amenities, Nigeria will be a home no one wants to leave
It's unbelievable how things have changed since last year, prices have more than tripled or even quadrupled. Almost 600k naira a month now? Few years ago, it was like 150-200k naira a month for an average family.
Wow! My rent alone in Jamaica is $1,000. Most Jamaicans don't pay that much for rent though. I think the average rent is around JMD 50k ($325) However, my income is from the U.S.
There are parts of Nigeria that pay as high as that. Some parts of Lagos and Abuja but it’s obviously designated for the upper echelon. Portharcourt is a decent city compared to those two👆🏾
My husband is abroad too and I’m here with our 3kids and a nanny. I’m finding it difficult to understand that 500k finishes before the month ends. Majorly the money goes on food/groceries. When I buy fuel from filling station it is 80k for a month but I spend more when I have to do black market. The miscellaneous expenses be doing it’s own too. Medicines we don’t plan for. Repairs that come up unexpectedly etc in-fact it’s just crazy. We just have to keep living. The Lord is our strength.
Same with me here ooooo,I thought am alone in this journey,I don explain tire, three kidz with nanny 500k is not enough oooooo. Sometimes I will be asking myself how I got to ve this extravaganza extravaganza not knowing that economic is dealing with me,God help us
It’s maybe because you live in Portharcourt, I have 3 kids too and I’m widowed, where I live 700k is becoming a joke to live on. How are you managing with 500k? My miscallenous alone is well over 200k
@christabelglams6685 Please, everyone i know started receiving the new wage from last month ending September 30th, and this my month October they would start receiving, which would include 2 months arrears for July and August. The new law was signed on June 29th 2024 by the president. You need to understand these things. Coppers would definitely receive the new wage from this October end with arrears as well.
Dyna, you and your family are still very much middle class Nigerians. Out of 200 million Nigerians living in Nigeria, I can bet that 50 million or more are living below your budget. Thank you for this breakdown. I’ve always wondered about the cost of living in Nigeria right now
Just to know - A friend of mine who lives in Port Harcourt told me that the medical care in private hospitals is high (obviously). But what baffles me is that she said you now have to pay for everything. Consultation from doctor, scans, treatment, food, etc, at the hospital. If you get sick, everything must be paid for. Otherwise you will not see a doctor... is this true?
Yes,we rely on water coperation, not every where in surulere though, although presently water coperation is messing up,most bore holes are condemned, the ones that are producing clean water, you need lots of purification and all.
So how are millions of Nigerians on minimum wage suppose to live then if most things on this list is more than 70k, an entire salary in Nigeria?😅Not funny!! ln western world, they use the price of all these things to determine the minimim wage, the wage must be able to afford these things.Unlike in Nigeria where the wages is determine by what the government feels like..Japa or ljapa is actually an urhobo language, there is an area in warri called ljapa. There is also an area in southern part of ondo state called japa as well..l was surprised you went for SUV,l said it in that video...l would expect more Nigerians to be looking at cng or smaller engine cars now..Thank you.❤
@dynaekwueme Mainland isn't mainingland again o! Even some parts in the Island is more affordable with terrible water only few aren't like that. My dear, na who know, know! Lagos to me is over hyped.
In nigeria for those that have there own water you didn’t mention that we use fuel or light to pump water?? Use meter first pump full task lemme see how much it will cost you then use fuel main you did water doesn’t last up to a month o😂 , you pump water like twice or even 3 times monthly, in ur private house maybe once depending on how u use in a flat 2-3times monthly, with light it cheaper with fuel 😂😂 5litters will give you half tanker 😂
You don’t pay water bill! Wow😮. In Jamaica the National water commission bill will drain your pockets monthly. Having lived in the US and now UK, oh boy. We now pay water…double in the UK.
Running water/tap water is free once you have a borehole system..all you have to do is pump water with your pumping machine from the ground and it's stored in water tanks. But in some states they pay for water to water corporation but it's not a lot of money
TO Ensure. Dyna are you copying your mother Hahahaha I am almost 100% sure I've heard her use that word a couple times in your sit down videos and the way you were saying it😂😂😂😂 . Anyway you are looking so beautiful!
Omo 😂 PHC is affordable o. We are paying over $1000 for yearly rent in Abuja. $300 dollars will not sustain you in a month here either. Not for a family of 5. E really choke 😂
You have to be adaptable. It is one thing I noticed Nigerians don't do well. They call it cutting your coat according to your size. The pot of soup has to change it cannot have the same ingredients but will still be delicious. The brand names have to change to alternatives , where and how you shop has to change.instead of Wuse 2, Kado fish market or orange market will do. If everyone is in the same position why not buy bulk within the family and/or neighbours or even church then divide it? Even car pooling to share the cost of fuel? How much are people growing at home of the ingredients they buy every week? This situation of inflatio6and fuel hikes have been a reality for well over a year. How many farmers have Nigerians approached to grow fresh produce instead of the one with the profit markup at the market? Nigerians must adapt and respond with new money saving strategies. They need to approach things differently. I suspect it is because they don't want people to know they would like to save money, even tnough everyone wants to save money. It might be a pride thing for some, I'm not sure.
Trust me ur okay, 1k yearly also depending on the area, you have security, light and everything you want you don’t buy fuel I guess? That’s better for me😂
I arrived in Abuja on Monday. I have been away for a year and a half some of that was in the UK (where I'm from ) then other African countries. Best believe I packed rice and tinned fish (with oil inside) from the UK, puchased affordable palm oil in Kenya. They have been in my suitcase for over a year, lol. This was because I heard the prices in Nigeria were skyrocketing. It's not just the increased market prices, but I know many will use the situation to overcharge others using fuel price as the excuse. Yesterday I went to buy ingredients from Kado fish market instead of my usual Wuse Market. I walked there and back which was maybe 15-20 minutes each way. I saved, yes but I also reframed the whole thing mentally. I got to have fresh air and exercise. I feel accomplished about it actually. You have to know how to adapt between times of abundance and times of less abundance. I grew up in a family of 5 (in the UK) and my father passed when I was in primary school. So we cut our coat according to our size.
We spend 50k per week family of 4, but it is no longer feasible, we can't even get the 50k again, because my husband has been sick and can't get to work for now and only me cannot cough that amount out, we are surviving on God's mercy.
If you earn a foreign currency, living in Ghana or Nigeria is very bearable, Nigeria even more so because things seem very affordable compared to Ghana. The key is to earn in a foreign currency and you’ll be better off than earning in your local currency.
@ Ghana is very expensive but still peaceful and enjoyable to live. No civil unrest and is safe for natives and foreigners alike. Good vibes despite its issues. So I wouldn’t describe it as shit but it has seen better days. Part of the issue is foreigners driving up prices when they travel in. Jumping online saying how ‘cheap’ everything is, not taking into consideration the exchange rate.
@@sylviasworld9397 exactly because if you earn $2,000 a month but it only costs $300 to live comfortable, then you’re seriously enjoying life lol and have a lot of expendable income.
If all you spend in a month is 300 dollars then Nigeria is really cheap to live on. For instance I fuel my car every week with an average of 45 dollars per week, car insurance is about 180 dollars per month not to mention other bills so my dear NIgeria really is cheap.
Hi dear. You don’t evaluate like that. 😅 Nigeria is a poor country so people don’t earn much. The minimum wage per month is 30,000 naira. Compare 30,000 naira monthly salary to 512,000 naira monthly expenditure. Can you see the gap? Yea.😅 Nigeria is only cheap to live in if you earn in dollars (working with foreign companies remotely, or creating contents on RU-vid and other monetized platforms). If you earn in naira, you’re gonna struggle. Except you have a really good Job that pays hugely in naira (which majority of Nigerians living in Nigeria don’t). The Naira currency is very weak.
