I got sober 42 years ago. It was one of the best decisions in my life. Life isn’t that easy, but facing it sober is the real thing! I’m glad you’re encouraging others. It’s worth it.
Sobriety has become a superpower for me. I’m new to this life, but I love it and I now love myself as a result of it. Thank you for watching and sharing a bit of your story 😁
For anyone curious about this, I worked for these dunes for 5 years. It is only $10 a night but you can only stay 30 days out of the year, and only 2 weeks consecutively with a 48 hour leave inbetween. This will include Northbeach and Oceano Campground as all 3 campgrounds are linked. Their system tracks your License plate. It's not like the golden days unfortunately where you could quite literally live out there indefinitely if you were smart enough Also you are correct in assuming you can camp out inside the dunes
@@zak8991 thanks for the extra info, that is definitely useful for anyone else who wants to come camp out! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
Recommended by the algorithm. At first I thought it was another senseless guy flashing his life. But shit, your mindset really resonated with me, especially the wanting to experience and enjoy life, owning your time and energy! Thank you bro.
Thank you for checking it out! I’m just starting to finally figure this out, and I have a much deeper message to share. I’m still figuring out how it all fits together,I want to help others find their true authentic selves, which society tries so hard to separate us from. Many of us turn to vices to escape, and if I can help people find the lives they’re supposed to live, I think I can make a positive impact on this world. Thanks again for watching. I hope you check out more of my content over time 🤙🤘
Im in Morro bay now, but, when I first moved here, I had the exact same setup and did the exact same thing. I had a campershell on my pickup, wired in some deepcycle batteries with solar for my electricity and just stayed in Oceano Dunes as much as possible. It was such a cool experience! Just to share: I worked for Sundbuggy Fun Rentals right there. I learned that the owner started there the same way! He lived out on the dunes and started with 1 buggy that he would rent. Now he has a massive fleet. Thanks for sharing this cool video!
Thanks for sharing that story! I’m glad to hear others have thought up the same short-term solution to do something cool with their lives! I love Morro bay too. Actually looking at buying land near Soda Lake, so I’ll still be doing a bunch of boondocking out this way. I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my video and leave such an awesome comment! 🙏
I found them hiring on Craigslist and I was in Morro Bay and I went there I applied three different times they were desperate for everyone they never got back to me it's weird because I know everything about mechanics and the sand dunes it was very strange
@@JasonKidd-sw6ni It's a bit of an interesting vibe, especially if they find out you're doing it nomad-style or are not hear yet... Good luck on the hunt!
I am 16 months booze free. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Your authenticity is palatable. Between finding the MIT guy and you I feel I’ve hit the RU-vid jackpot! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Very inspiring.
Congratulations on your sobriety! I’m on day 314. That was a big part of starting this adventure. Thank you for sharing my adventure. We can all spread the word and help others find this path… what a gift. 🫡
OMG, me too--this guy and the MIT surgeon! Authenticity has the highest energetic frequency. I learned by seeing wonderful people destroyed by alcohol and drugs, so I never went in that direction.
Good for you! It's so worth it. I'm proud of you! ❤ My husband and I have 5 years. Quitting alcohol saved our marriage, health, and finances. You're doing an amazing thing for yourself ❤
Wow! I just happened to click on you out of curiosity. I like what you stand for!!! I am happy to see you are a sober man helping others. I am also 13 years sober and I live in my class C. I am currently in the forest of Colorado. I create content to help others in a different way. Staying away from all the political theatre is so healthy. Focusing on having a good life is key!!! Way to go!
Thank you for checking it out! I need to meet more people like myself, so we and free… I had to separate myself from everyone back home. I’m heading back to Colorado soon! I was in Summit County for 7-years and in the state for 9… looking at land near my favorite hot springs near Alamosa. I’ll check out your channel now… is RU-vid your main focus?
12 years for me too! For the past three years, my van has been parked on a 20 acre horse ranch in the hills above Santa Barbara with its own water well. Taking care of horses and growing herb is the retirement for me👍😎 (no debt and my only monthly bill is Phone)
This video just came up on my feed and I was pleasantly surpised by your upbeat, positive message. I just subscribed. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos and seeing how the next chapter of your life journey unfolds.
@@nomadicyoutube hey, thank you so much 🤙 I appreciate your taking the time to watch and share some good vibes! Might take a while to figure this all out, but I know I can help people find and become the best version of themselves. Thank you again friend 🫡
Did the same near Santa Cruz during the summer for 3 months. Even had a tent up most the time. Use to be pretty common to do this back in the day. This was the healthiest time of my life too. Was more fit amd tan than anytime in my life. It was wonderful. Only moved indoors cause the tides are too high in the winter. You can sleep on beach some nights but in winter but other nights it's underwater. Bodysurfed, swam and jogged most evey day, plus walked everywhere.
I camp as much as I can and also I am 862 days sober. I'm guessing that's why you just showed up on my feed. Lol. Being sober and fit is my new way of life. Sad I am 50 now but I need to make up for lost time! Thanks for spreading the word of sobriety.
A lot of time left to enjoy this new life… I’m only at day 312 without drinking, 995 of fitness and only 62 without weed, but I’ve seen the light and this is who I am now. Thanks for the positive words and together we can spread the word and make the world a better place 🫡
I have always believed in "Worry about what you can control and don't worry about what you can't" - You seem to live that as well! Time is always the most valuable asset!
As unsustainable as things have become, we will everywhere, not just in CA… I’m about to buy land and build a home with my hands and cash, but it’s because I quit playing the game university set me up for.
As a 64 year old California native who actually lives minutes from Pismo, I always enjoy the midwestern/ southern people who are more Californian than I am.
@@seanwan30 I have friends who are from Pennsylvania,Ohio,Illinois Wisconsin and so on almost all of them surf daily,go hiking, paraglide and use words like Dude and my favorite “it’s all good “. Us locals don’t even go to the beach. To many tourists

Dude !! You got it ALL RIGHT ! Love what your doing and your purpose in your Life..We just started going off the electronics and T.V grid ourselves..Like you said, alot of wasted mind space preserved and saved for things you can control and things you always wanted to do, but were to distracted to get done.. So nice to not be Addicted so much.
I’m glad I’m finding others with the same mindset! I’ve been very happy to separate myself from my old friends and acquaintances because they just don’t see the light. Thanks for sharing the experience and leaving positive vibes! ❤️
Great video I absolutely love Pismo and we usually pay $500+ per night to get any kind of ocean view. You being able to hang out on the beach for $5 a day in your SUV and work is awesome... congrats!
Thanks! It took some vision, but I like to look at life like a puzzle - what outcome do I desire and how can I use what I have available to achieve that outcome? Thanks for checking it out!
I need to get back to the beach! I got a 97 TJ Wrangler, but even for a bit, I miss living at the beach! This was an excellent algorithm recommendation! Stay blessed and prosperous Dude ✨🌊✨
@@nisagomez4366 thanks for the well wishes! It’s definitely an amazing place for a certain genre of us adventurers! I’ve got more Oceano Dunes content coming soon. I appreciate your taking the time to share the journey with me!
@@RobCatacomb thanks! It took me a bit to realize it, but your statement is a good description of my approach. It’s amazing what a person can do with self belief once they learn to keep promises to themselves every moment of every day. One of the next big things is to buy the land I’ve decided on and host camps where divorced and lost men with drinking issues and vices can come to learn a new way of approaching life and change their direction. Great stuff man I love that beach gf and I used to meet halfway there a lot Little known place for a bed with a full kitchen is pacific plaza hotel right there They're like little condos lol rooms can be cheap during off season and not too bad on season if you feel like you need a bed and kitchen for the night or weekend
Isn’t it one of the coolest places in America? So much less blown-out than the ski town, Breckenridge, Colorado, where I lived for 7-years. I haven’t stayed in a hotel since a rainstorm in mid-Winter. I’ll keep the Pacific Plaza in mind, but I think I’ll venture on after the Summer, before the next off-season. Thanks a lot for checking this vid out. I really appreciate the time you took to watch and comment!
Wow how interesting to virtually meet the owner of the entire state of California. I have encountered so many people in California that think they own the place. It's one of the most bizarre things to me.
Thank you. I’m my message is resonating with people. This video has helped me solidify my channel’s direction and how I can create the most positive impact over time.
I’ve decided to buy some remote land in Colorado. I’ll be setting up my off-grid paradise soon, but I’ll keep traveling and camping off road. Off grid in a state forest and cabin sounds awesome!
I've been thinking about doing this for a while now. Since I work from home and want freedom I also just started the sober and healthy journey and can feel very lonely. It's refreshing to see others are chasing that lifestyle you are! I wish you the very best in your journey and hope to meet you someday! 🙌
Thanks for checking out my journey! I’ve seen the light and will never turn back now. I don’t get lonely although I’m alone… this is a great moment to truly fall in love with yourself and build into the best version of that person. Enjoy the journey and take pride riding solo! I’m interested in meeting followers when it works. I’ll be traveling back to Kansas around the end of September and will spend some time exploring and meandering back. Who knows, maybe you will be along my path. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!

Pretty inspirational. Glad to know that you want to give back to the world! Found you by accident, but easy follow. A few years ago I bought a 2003 Ford E350 ambulance and converted it into a campervan. I am hoping to use it more for vanlife/camping.
Yep, California beaches belong to the people. Though there are some beaches that are set as no camping. Pismo may go no camping because so many young people leave so much trash on the beach. I can’t imagine leaving trash on a beach. I don’t know what those people are thinking. When you’re off roading, don’t fly over the dunes at 50+, there have been so many deaths from crushed sternums because they land on the next dune that is going up, and slam chest on into the front of their bike at full speed. Also fourwheelers roll over on people out here because they go around the side of a dune at a steep angle. I had to go to the hospital for a surgery once, and they were like “Oh look someone who doesn’t have a dune biking injury”.
@@kanders7391 I agree that leaving trash is absolutely terrible… I don’t think it’s only people of a certain age, sadly. More that some people were never raised to appreciate this beautiful planet and all of its wonders in the way I was with a biology teacher as my mother… I will be making a video in the future, explaining all of the great and risky parts of enjoying the dunes… injuries and damaged vehicles are real, and most times, they can be avoided… I know that alcohol is definitely a part of the formula when things go wrong many times. Only one more reason sobriety is a good thing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Oceano is the best place in cali if u are a nomad u can park on the street at night and not be bothered as long as you move during the day $50 beach pass for a year or $5 a day pass u will not want to leave for awhile homeless and nomads can get free lunch everyday seven days a week 9th street off grand ave Mrs Betsy runs it out of a small church and they have a food pantry behind Betsy’s lunch line u can get clothes shoes personal items u need from Betsy she is an angel on earth ❤
Fortunately I am making good money and saving a lot, so the resources you mentioned are not necessary for my life, but this is an amazing place as long as we respect and appreciate it!
when u buy land just so you know u have to pay it completely off before building anything on it and then you have to get permission, I looked into this and its ridiculous. I thought oh buy piece land put a modular home on it nope u need permission for anything

@@BookOfMikeGI bought dirt cheap land in Crestline. Walking distance to beautiful beach lakes, San Bernardino National forest, unincorporated, lax building codes. An hour from LA. I put a tiny cabin up there with no permits. I also lived in my RV on beaches for a while. Another tip is most beaches let you park there free all day, and at night I just drove to the closest rest stop to sleep. 100% free and 100% legal in California.
