Someone in the comments said "You choose how YOU feel in your own body. She did not feel okay in hers, so she changed it. What is wrong with that? This is her diary, it's not instruction for you how to feel about your body." This is what this series is about. This is not for the viewers to FOLLOW. This is for the viewers to be INSPIRED. Just because Alivia achieved a "model body" does NOT mean she did not also learn to have a better relationship with food. With the hard work that she put in after suffering for so long, she achieved the body SHE wanted. I don't have an ED but I still struggle a lot with food and my eating habits. Alivia gives me hope and a place to start my journey.
@sanfengmiao5367
@sanfengmiao5367 3 года назад
Agreed, but I think it is important to also work on navigating one's relationship with oneself. Like her said in the end of the video, we all need to learn to enjoy the journey itself, rather than only looking at the result. Enjoying the journey means loving yourself every single day because it is you who are on that journey.

I think many more have a problem with that part with the guy advertising his work out plan and explaining the “science”, which isn’t real and is oversimplified, and can cause people to begin a eating disorder especially since the target audience of Alivias videos are young impressionable women. I don’t blame Alivia she seems like she’s going through something mentally tough but this information and the power she has over her audience makes this video very alarming

She was able to reconcile with food, and that's the encouraging part. I watched your most recent video ''how glowing up ruined me'' first, then I watched this video. And its sad to see that most people in the comments lack self worth. They dont feel worthy of themselves when they dont fit into society's standards, thats really sad to see. As I just watched the video you uploaded a day ago, I saw that once you gain weight again you start to feel like a failure. If you dont break this cycle from losing weight subsequently gain weight again to feeling insecure its going to keep repeating, and trust me you really dont want that. So I shortly want to tell what I did. I first began with loving myself and accepting the way I am afterwards I started cutting out bad habits like binge eating etc. I absolutely didn't starve myself, heck no, but I replaced sugary processed foods with healthy ones. I did all of this to be healthy and not to fit in society's standards. I slowly started working out. I didn't rush the process, otherwise I would eventually give up and gain weight again. Slowly I became the healthiest version of myself, without burning out.

This comment deserves so much more recognition. Skinny is not the end goal. Building yourself into the healthiest version of yourself is. And binging is a clear sign you struggle with a healthy sustainable nutrition plan.

@saffaali-uw1ex

exactly! Cause you shouldn't lose weight bc you want to fit in the ''standards'' believe me, its almost impossible to fit in society's standards these days. If you really want to lose weight your goal should be ''being a healthy person'' cause even if you wouldn't get ''the dream body'', you would still succeed at being the healthiest version of yourself and that is what really matters.@@beeshep

My god it's like the video is my life story in weight loss. I've been trying to lose weight for years. I've hated my body since I was 11, but only tried to lose weight at 14. It went well. But then it spiralled. Things kept happening, I got kicked out of my mum's, she left and went to another country, so I lived with my dad. Then my mum came back when I was 16, I moved in again, she kicked me out again, she left to another country again, I was left in England. I got cancer, it has ruined my speech and confidence to this day. After that, I fell into depression. My mum came back to England when I was 17, and I went to live in Cyprus with her. That's when I got my eating disorder. It was the only way I could cope. I went from 61kg to 53kg in a matter of less than 2 months. I had bulimia, and atypical anorexia. When we went back to England (I was 18), I decided I didn't want to live with her anymore. I went to live with my dad. After everything that happened, I started to gain weight. I started to binge. Hard. I felt like a failure. I tried to lose weight again, failed. Then I had an ed relapse, which was in February 2020. Then I tried to lose weight again. And again. And again. I've realised that I can't let my eating disorder do what it wants. I have to take weight loss slow, or I'll fall back into binge eating. During the 2020 lockdown, I went up to 70kg. Anyway, I yo-yo'd back and forth between 58 and 65kg for the next year, it felt like torture. Now, 2022, 20 years old. I'm learning to love myself no matter what I look like, but to also care for the body I love. I'm now 54.3kg and man, does it feel good to lose weight slowly. Being consistent really works. I'm going to start cardio soon, then weights. I kind of want a gym membership ngl.

It has given me so much, so many beautiful walks, has allowed me to feel sweet kisses and hugs, see glorious sunsets and bear healthy children. Now instead of trying to change it, I honor it. I've struggled with eating disorders for half of my life. I'm glad that I'm now fully recovered because I know that watching this video when I was recovering would've sucked me right back in. I feel extremely bad about all the people who haven't recovered yet, are struggling with an eating disorder or feel very insecure about them self, knowing that they might end up going through what I did. The internet needs more body positivity videos and videos about mental health. Not videos like this one, a video that focuses on the idea that losing weight itself equals happiness, a video that normalizes talking bad about the way you look.

I kind of turned it all around for myself during the end of my high school days, But then covid hit, some weight gain happened while staying indoors inactive, Then I got the covid itself, unable to eat more than a couple bites every day for few weeks, lost a lot of weight, but binged once covid left as lack of eating and stress all took a toll on me. Gained SOOOO much, that I basically returned to EXACTLY how much I'd lost during that high school time period. I know exactly how to get back on track, but just the thought of, how hard I'd tried, how it all went down the drain, it just demotivated me too much. My mind just went like, what's the use, for all you know if you try really hard it's all only gonna go to waste AGAIN. But yea, 14:46 all that matters is that I'm still trying. Gotta keep trying and never give up. Mental hygiene is in some ways similar to physical hygiene. Can't brush the teeth just once and call it good enough for the rest of the year, gotta brush every single day. Just like that, gotta keep the mindset freshened, motivated and alive every day all over again.

The amount of times I cried while watching this is insane.. I’m only 14 turning 15 and I already cry over my weight and try all different diets, when I saw your video i was looking up videos I could workout to because classmates bully me for my weight.. even now I can’t stop crying to your video.. just thinking how hard it was for you to share is what gets me the most.. your experience makes me motivated to try.. I already eat only 3 meals a day and sometimes one snack, Count calories and more but I don’t move often.. my goal this summer is to change that.. this video is exactly what I needed.. I don’t want to be scared of food, i want to learn to trust myself with food.. I want to do better.. learn better, look better and feel better.. Your younger self reminds me of me and it’s both so scary and so comforting to know that someone else knows what I’m going through. Body image issues and eating disorders hurt. Being surrounded by people who seem “flawlessly skinny” but are also just strugglers of the same issue, is such a difficult thing. I hope to one day move past these thoughts or learn how to control them more.
3 года назад
Guys, I just want to let you know alivia is not trying go say skinny/thin equals good or happiness or anything of a positive sort. She's trying to show us importance of continuing to get up even when things are hard. Shes trying to show some of us who struggle with binging or unhealthy eating addictions that we are not alone. She's trying to show that effort is what matters most and everythng will then fall into place. Alivia said that the moment you give up on yourself is when you fail. But as soon as you get back up you HAVE NOT FAILED. This isnt only about weight. It's about fighting for the person you want to be. Alivia reached HER GOAL and she wants us to fight to reach our fitness goals as well. Or even just to be healthy. You saw as alivia started being consistent her whole attitude changed she was dancing around, she didnt frown at her body. YOU COULD SEE THAT SOMETHJNG WAS CHANGING. YOUR FITNESS GOAL can be SO DIFFERENT from hers. She just doesn't want you to lose hope and stop trying because there is a glimmer of hope in trying. Skinny is not happiness - confidence is. Who do you want to be? Ask yourself that question.

I definitely think that the mental episode should’ve come before the physical one. I know that you’ll address it in the next one. But I think it would have been more beneficial to show alongside your training how you stopped the binging cravings. Which was the thing that was holding you down. Putting that to the side made this episode feel incomplete, and confusing. Like you just committed to a training program and that was what saved you. Which I know, it’s not the case. I know that you organize this in chapters. And because the mental part is so important, maybe you would like to give it a whole episode. So you can cover it in detail. But maybe combining the two would’ve worked better. Because in our minds the question was there all the time: What made you actually commit this time and not give up? What made it different this time compared to the other ones? I think maybe that way the message in this episode, and Steve’s lecture, would’ve been properly heard and appreciated. Because is also very valuable information on how to really take care of our bodies. But cutting of the mental/mindset part, made it feel like that.

Listen to me when I say this: DO NOT try dieting before ur actually 17 or 18. You're still growing. The only thing you'll do is stunt your growth. U might feel like it's the end of the world right now, but it's not. Your life barely even started. Teen series and movies have sold u the wrong idea that the most important stage of life is high school. They're wrong. Trust me when I say college and the life after would be far more memorable for u than high school. I used to be really chubby during high school. I weighed 150 lbs. Then I hired a personal trainer in my senior year and managed to lose 33 lbs in 8 months. Glad i didnt do it when I was younger because it was HARD to keep up with when ur surrounded w a family that barely ate healthy and didn't have a job. Confusing message tho because it’s all about an all round glow up (mentally and physically) but then Steve talks about aesthetics and symmetry like celebrities in films which isn’t realistic😖 I loved this episode up until that point. Steve obviously does an amazing job, but there’s a reason why celebrities got to him trying to change their body for an upcoming role (not real life!!).

Yeah this is true I felt kinda sad cause the sort of mind set Steve has about fitness didn't really fit into the whole premise of her series. Alivia was aiming for lifestyle changes that last forever and Steve's program is just a quick fix. I mean if it worked for her that's great but tbh the episode kinda feels out of place

Ugh that scale section brought back some memories. I was working with a personal trainer who had the same kind of vision as Steve and I was down from XL shirt and size 20 pants to a M shirt and size 16 pants. My mental health was the best it’s ever been and I felt absolutely amazing. But the scale never budged a pound over the course of that year. My controlling ex forced me to quit with my trainer because she wasn’t “effective” and now here I am a few years later back up 30 lbs and feeling like absolute crap. I’m starting back with the same trainer next month and it should go a lot differently now that I’ve lost 130 lbs of dead weight (my ex)

Your video showed up in my feed so I decided to watch it bc I’m struggling to lose weight - again. In 2017 at age 46, I joined Weight Watchers and lost 30 lbs! I was so proud of myself and I looked and felt amazing. But then life got crazy, Covid happened plus having a teenage daughter got me stressed out and depressed and I gained 22 lbs back 😭 But watching this video, especially Steve’s segments, made me have an a-ha moment. I’m in menopause now and have no muscle mass. I’ve been feeling so weak and Steve explained why. That 30 lbs I lost was probably my muscle mass bc I lost the weight without ever exercising. It was all about what I ate and the number on the scale. They never taught me about weight training and losing muscle. I’m so mad. So here I am now, trying to gain more muscle mass so I’m not a fragile old lady in 20 years. I’m so thankful that I watched your video and had that a-ha moment. I get it now and I know what I have to do. I’m gonna try to cut out gluten and sugar as much as possible and up my protein to feed my new muscles. Wish me luck! 🙏🏼💪🏼

Ok, but all we see is a girl binging with mcdonald's wrappers around her and then a skinnier (healthier?) version of the same girl after working out. Alivia, I love your narration but images are your form of story telling and for this episode at least, it doesn't address your current relationship with food, how its changed, what you eat now, and how you progressed to this point. Also how you "cured" your ED. Are you seeing a therapist, and if not then how did you transform your mindset and associations? Or do you continue to battle your unhealthy thoughts everyday and how do you deal with that? I think its understandable why people feel concerned or have been triggered by this episode in particular. Supposedly your next part will address the aforementioned questions and I'm excited to see your journey. I've always been interested in Steve Zim's workout plans so I for one am quite excited to try ATUmobile but I can also see why people would feel a bit tricked like this was just an ad.

I think you are correct and all but you probably don't even watch her instagarm lives. She WILL COVER ALL HER NUTRITION SIDE after getting over these first few parts/episodes. her season isn't just these 2 episodes. She cuts out sugar from her life and is pro NOT RESTRICTING yourself. She will get into all those details later! She will also get into the secret behind fasting and doing it healthily and not in a way where you starve yourself.
@vasher1400
@vasher1400 3 года назад
if she doesn’t see a specialist there is the real reality she’s going to develop into someone that struggles with a restrictive disorder. she’s been like this for a long time, losing weight is simply not going to ‘fix’ her.

I think the problem with Alivia is she lacks being informative to us. She's just so busy editing her episodes that she doesn't let ppl know more info in case they misunderstand her and start to nitpick at her. A ton of people here commenting even on ep 1 are obviously not following her on ig or watching her lives a few months back. There is a lot of behind the scenes of Alivia and she has a ton to give out in season 2 that she's doing it by chapters.

Hell yes. I think that she is on the other extreme, she pushes herself too much and as soon as she will gain weight she will binge again. I was there. I starved myself,(I know she is not starving herself) I was making lots of exercises and i was unhealthy, and as soon as I gained 3 kgs, in the next three months I gained another 25 kgs because I hated myself. Now I'm in a good place, I am healthy but speaking of her...I fear that she will be underweight some day or, she will binge again...
