How I Lost at the Esports World Cup

At CEO, I finally qualified for one of the biggest tournaments of the year, the EWC. My group was me, Tachikawa (modern Ed), Kawano (Akuma), and Oil King (Rashid). Since everyone had to do well at a tournament in order to qualify, every player in the tournament was a killer and the matches were all incredibly hype. Unfortunately, my last match ended in a heartbreak when Juri's super didn't do what I had hoped.

Tachikawa commented the situation in his RU-vid channel that he actually thought he lost the game when he saw the counter SA3 action from Juri against his SA3 and the screen turned into a purple after that. He then realized he had another round after hearing a Japanese shouting from the audience "It AIN'T OVER YET!!". He said he felt sorry for you as it could be a disrespectful to anybody who seating at the other end. Tachikawa vowed to quit standing up during the game ever again. Additionally, he mentioned you were a good guy saying "It's OK" in the after-game handshakes. That's cool.

Mans was in one of the toughest pools, both of the winners from this pool went on to semifinals, also had to knock out oil king for a chance to stay alive. Proud either way, keep up the great work man!

As a DBFZ player, I'm glad to see Tachikawa getting this far, like dude, not even GO1 or Fenritti have made it this far, and PUNK well he just gave a try to DBFZ so he doesn't count.

Superstition 1: You cracked Oil King's key piece, the spirit of Hydraulic was not pleased. Superstition 2: JWong's Death Note💀.

Glad Akuma proved his critics wrong by making it to the Grand Finals of the tournament, despite having the weakest health of all the SF6 characters.

I don’t know why but the song choice for your match with oil king started to bother me so much I had to skip to the next match. Probably because it felt so long

9:49 you could’ve done Renko Kicks into Ankensatsu, might’ve built level three

i think if you aren't sure if your lv 3 will win next time, you can level 2 and block -- 10f startup is a lot faster than a lot of level 3s!

well apparently juri's SA3 lost to Ed's by just 1 extra frame of invincibility.. I think juri has 12f of invincibility while ed has 13.. crazy how 1/60th of second decided the outcome of match n thereby the tourney

i noticed the inzone monitor is kinda the go to for tournaments, but is it like the optimal choice for fighting games right now? i'm just planning to upgrade my pc setup next year and right now i collect data, while waiting for pricedrops of 27' screens.

Tbh, any monitor with G-Sync would do the trick since there’s heavy Sony advertising in these tourneys.

@@CarbyGuuGuu i always play without any sort of sync. pc atleast allows it, unlike console...

The quality on the stream/rewatch seems a bit bad unfortunately--likely not your fault of course this may have been the highest they had it. Wanted to point it out in case you noticed and had a fix if there is one.

23:07 You could’ve won if you sa2 to apply a break to the drive rush and block Ed’s sa3 on time or do a delay sa3 to counter it. It was very unfortunate of you.😢 By the way, that scene where Tachikawa leaving his seat is so funny. He didn’t even have time to put his headset back on for the 3rd round.😂

Oh that's interesting tech. I guess it should work with Blank's level 2 install too. The delay SA3 you mentioned is quite tricky to do though. You need pretty precise timing and timing it off Ed's super animation is tricky, unless this is something you have labbed a lot (which I doubt most people lab this too much).

Ehh.. everyone make mistake. You make mistake. He make mistake. These guys that consistently on top 5 makes mistake. But they are still consistently on top. Making less mistake is skill of its own.
