I am glad you posted this and shared your story because I was about to do the same but I've been very skeptical on how it's going to work with my friends. But since you shared your story with us now I'm going to have a plan to do my RU-vid channel. I would like to here more stories in the future keep up the great work.

I actually had a similar situation with some friends where we were going to make a RU-vid channel. Such a shame what happened with your channel. That's crazy.

This camera looks good, but I can definitely see some crunchyness (I watch at 1440p, for my monitor). Particularly in motion. I don't watch a tonne of channels that do handheld footage though so I'm not sure if that's expected or not. I think that's more just the reality of camera gear and youtube compression with those trees lol. I imagine a camera that doesn't do that costing like several thousand dollars or something. Or it is literally just RU-vid's limitations with all that detail in frame.
