Congratulations Jamie. I was 276 in weight before my dad passed and I'm down to 128 this morning. Its not easy losing weight but I know I feel better than I ever have
Great thanks for sharing your journey on weight loss. I top the scale at 296 pounds at my doctors office about 15 years ago. I lost a 150 lbs. Keeping it has been the hardest part of the weight loss journey. You I sure is going to be an inspiration to to so many people.
I'm 55 years old, 6'1". I got up to 230lb before I decided to do something about it. A keto type diet and an evening walk worked for me. I got down to 195lb. Just like you, I was very proud of my accomplishments. Those that love me made encouraging comments about my weight loss. Just like with you and those comments do mean a lot. Then I got the "are you sick" comments. These were very discouraging. Was I making myself look worse than I did before? Did I really look like a cancer or aids patient? Then I realized that none of the sick comments were coming from loved ones. They were coming from what I call jealous people. People who were not successful in their own weight loss journey. Misery loves company. So when you start getting the sick comments. Just ignore them.
Way to go! I have been doing nearly the exact same plan. I’m down to 195 from 283. I’m on My Fitness Pal also. 9 days until we are on Ecstasy for her last two sailings. For the first time I am going to stay on my diet on a cruise. It seems like it will be possible. We used to diet so we could eat on a cruise, but that is not working anymore. I must do this 24/7/365. My goal is to get out of the “over weight” rating on my BMI. For my height that will be 164. That seems impossible, but I will try. Thanks for making this video!
Im on the same journey. Im 53 years old and Ive lost 45 lbs so far and it has been almost spot on to the same points you made in your video. The only difference for me is I am also going to the gym about 3-4 times per week. In 2 weeks I am boarding a 15 day cruise so it will be my first test to see if I can maintain my weight while cruising.
I recently lost 30 pounds and cruised in April. I was really worried about gaining weight, but I wanted to eat everything that I felt like eating and I did! To my delight, I only gained 3 pounds, which I easily lost going back on my diet the following week. So enjoy your cruise!
Speedo on the Lido. Good stuff Jamie. I'm in the middle of my own (10 weeks) weight loss down from 275# to 245#. If I make my goal to 200#, look out, there will be a speedo on the lido. With a few more years on me than yourself I can get away with it without any shame. Keep it up, Jamie, we've got it going on. Thanks.
Spot on, Jamie! Eliminating the carbs and sugars is the key. Have you considered incorporating intermittent fasting into your routine? Many benefits to that approach besides just losing weight. Also, just walking 20 minutes a day is a good way to keep your metabolism flowing. Good luck in your weight loss and long term management!
Depends. I’m following an oil free, whole Foods plant based diet. I eat lots of fruits, whole grains, legumes, and a ton of vegetables, under the guidance of my mom’s cardiologist and her dietician. I eat potatoes, sweet potatoes, brown rice, but nothing on the potatoes, they taste surprisingly delicious without anything. In 8 months my mom has reversed her heart disease, without surgery. I’ve been doing it for 5 weeks and my BP has dropped from 155/80 to 105/60. But, I know people that have done keto and it works for them. Any diet that makes you eat less processed foods is great. But I don’t think people should be afraid of berries, bananas and sweet Potatoes. I don’t think anyone has developed heart disease (the biggest killer) from eating too many carrots or bananas.
Great job Jamie! Very informative! I always thought fruit was good for you because it's natural...never really thought about the high sugar content being bad. And carrots..what the heck..who woulda thought. My liver enzymes are elevated and I don't even drink alcohol. I think I'm going to try to cut back on sugar and carbs and see if that helps my liver and chronic pain. Please consider doing updates...Thank you..so inspiring!
Great job Jamie. KNOWLEDGE is power and you've proved this for sure! You have so much to look forward to. I am looking forward to watching your progress.
Keep up the good work Jamie! Your knees will thank you in a few years. From personal experience, the struggle is real! Wish you much ongoing success with your journey.
This is great! Way to go Jamie! I’m a holistic nutritionist and health coach. With my clients I focus on balancing their blood sugar and prioritizing protein.
Congrats on the weight loss Jamie! Great video! Due to my health issues I went on the Carnivore diet and since May 30 I have lost 60lbs and feel better now that ever ! Keep It up brother and thanks for sharing !
I noticed in a previous cruise video you seemed hangry about food, seemed it was controlling your attitude. I’m glad you’re taking care of you! Lots more cruises to enjoy!
First, you are doing SOOO good!! Congratulations on your weight loss and figuring out what is working for your body. I too went to a weight loss doctor and did this exact same diet (lifestyle change). The problem is I’ve done everything you’re describing TWICE and lost 95 pounds both times and gained it all back and then some. What I didn’t learn at the end of my weight loss is how to start incorporating a SMALL amount of bread and pastas back into my diet, so that I didn’t gain it all back really fast. It’s HARD to live like that for the rest of your life, so after you lose all that you want to lose you need to SLOWLY start incorporating some things back in. We have to be smart about what and how much of every food that we put in our body. Again you’re doing great! 😁
Congratulations brother you’re doing amazing! You are doing clean keto you don’t even know it! Even a little more strict it seems. I am doing a similar diet i’ve lost 15 pounds so far I have been trying to walk as much as possible some of the best and easiest exercise.
I have been at a crossroads for a while... and I have some very important decisions ahead of me, but for right now I am using myfitnesspal, a better diet, and an exercise regimen. Congratulations on your progress, and I hope we can share our continued progress when we sail on Celebration next month! Thanks for sharing.
👍👍👍👍 Excellent job Jamie… !!! I just started changing my dietary intake as well and just added protein shakes to my routine. Felt a little sluggish without it… your right about working with a dietitian or nutritionist….I’ve always said no in past…time for me to say Yes! 👏👏👏….Appreciated the update and the video…🍻
I have discovered Nut Pods creamer for my coffee. it is sugar free AND carb free. it's perfect for my sweetener I use sucra drops, zero carbs in it. way to go on your journey!
Good for you Jamie! We ourselves are trying to be better and trying to make smarter choices. Its never easy but any little bit helps..but my coach (Kona) has been helping me along and do see some changes on myself (small victory). You are looking great and keep up the great work!
Wow, a great video. I might watch it a few times. You are inspiring me. I am 67 and quite short. When I am heavy, it really shows. I did Optavia before a cruise in 2019 and dropped 37 lbs. But eventually I put it back on. My next cruise is June 01 next year. I need to lose again. I notice myself being lazy. Watching you this morning, I need to get it into gear! Good luck to you going forward and know that you might be my butt kicker. I appreciate you putting out such an inspirational video.
Jamie thank you for coming on here and talking to us and sharing your journey. My dr says I'm obese. (39.9 bmi) my last couple of cruises I have been retaining water and it was hard for me to enjoy my cruise. I was told obese ppl retain more water. That broke my heart but I didn't want to tell anyone. I struggle day to day. But I am gonna try harder now. Like you said, you're not just doing it for yourself, you're doing it for your loved ones.
the key to this is in the first part of your video. you have to make the commitment in your head first. I did 265 to 190 at 6' tall right before the virus. I include the gym for core and cardio and to be around like minded people. (private gym open during virus)congrats on your epic transformation and keep up the good work. If you fall off the wagon its ok just get back on. remember its all in your own mind to decide. I will go really hard core for the week before the cruise then enjoy myself on the cruise and start right back up when I get home. the biggest reward is when someone see's what you did and they make up their mind to do it as well. another positive is more mental clarity when your not putting bad stuff in your body. Keep up the good work Jaimie.
Way to go! I am going Carnivore for the month of October, I have done Keto for 2 years and am plateaud at 180 to 185, I got down to 174 and need to get to 170 to 175 or a little less. I feel you cruise brother.
I followed a plan like this- 2 years ago. I lost 50 pounds.. Then I moved to where lots of restaurants and fast food is available. I know your plan works. Today- your video is re-energizing my commitment to this lifestyle. Thanks Jamie.
Wow! I am so impressed with you Jamie! Awesome job! I can feel your passion for your weight loss and it shows! I do low carb-Atkins style and have maintained my weight for years. When we go on vacations I do tend to spurge...but when I get back home I hop right back on my low carb plan and lose the weight that I gained pretty quickly. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! And here's to continued success!
Way to go Jamie! You are truly an inspiration. Sounds like a dietitian is an important factor in the process. We’ve been working hard for a few weeks now and hope to reach our goals by Alaska. Keep it up my friend and hope to see you and Sharon soon!
Over the last year I lost about 30 pounds just by changing my eating habits - low carbs and sugar, stopped eating out, especially fast food, and NO exercise (except a little walking). I’d like to lose 15 more, but I’m at a standstill. My doctor said I need to do more exercise so now that it’s cooled down that’s what I’ll do.
Great for you and you look great! Drastic diets like this one only work while you do not eat all the restricted items. But it’s unrealistic to expect not to eat any bread or pastas for the rest of your life. Once you add those items, you start gaining weight again. A balance diet is the way to go!
Thx for sharing. I'm on keto lifestyle and have lost 70 lbs. It's encouraging to hear about your story. Everything you said is true when you lose weight. Keep it up!
I once asked Sharon how she stays so slim, and she said she was blessed with genes. I'm like you. I now have to work to shed excess. Good on you. I use My fitness since the pandemic. It really show you how much it "costs" to eat the things I like: ).
thanks for the inspiration. I have lost 60 pounds in the past and promised myself not to gain it back but did over 3 years thanks to the pandemic. so my advice is continue to be mindful after you get to your goal. Nothing feels better then reaching your goal and feeling healthy
Congrats Jamie. The decision to get healthy is not an easy decision and even harder to put into action. The lifestyle change required is not an easy change. I have done it with a lot of stumbling along the way. Focus and dedication is a must and as you said a team of dieticians is very helpful if you take their advice to heart.
Congrats Jamie!!! We have learned that while cruising you still can enjoy "smaller portions" of all great food if you exercise on the ship. We walk the track everyday, sometimes twice a day.
Wow! Way to go Jamie! You just inspired me to lose weight. I really need to since my blood sugar is getting close to the no-good area. Thanks for all the specific info - most folks don’t share enough of that. Take care & looking forward to videos of the Prima!
My niece was so fat that she had to go thru the wheelchair gate at Disney World ! She lost over 100 pounds, exercised and went to Paris and ran the marathon !
Nice work! I have been eating a Paleo (no grain or starch ) type diet for 12 years. I have been on 15 cruises during that time period, and have never lacked in food choices. You just have to read the menu as ingredients the kitchen offers! I do gain a few pounds due to bad oils used while cooking in addition to eating a few extra calories. I wouldn’t trade feeling healthy on a vacation to splurge on a sugary cocktail or treat. I hope you document success with meals on your next cruise. Cheers to the tequila/Vodka with club soda!
I’ve been watching the Sharon at Sea crew for a long long time and I just want to say how proud I am of you for taking control of your health and losing weight! Keep up the good work and give yourself grace when you go off the diet. 💜💜💜
Good Job Jamie! I’ve been on the Ketogenic lifestyle for 2 years now under the supervision of Virta Health, diabetes is reversed, no more Neurology, the nerve damage is cured, no heart palpitations and my burred vision is back to normal. Keep it up, I just got back from Alaska on Carnival Spirit and Navigator of the Seas, very easy to eat Keto while cruising. Take care my friend. Fred San Diego Ca.
You are the Man! We so love you, Sharon and Matthew! You look amazing and your attitude is awesome. What a giant leap you took and are so very Proud of you. (Not a small feat or undertaking!) You are very inspiring and know you impacted a bunch of folks in a positive way! Good Health and Much Happiness to You and Yours! ( Looking forward to the Prima vlogs😊)
Great job Jamie, you look incredible, I remember when we went to Cabo and we were walking up those small hills to the beach, I just felt horrible, your video is inspiring and I'm going to get going on it, it would be cool to have some type of SAS weight loss group.
Hi Jaime, CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss. I'm so glad for you that you have made a lifestyle change that will give you a better "quality of life." I have been doing "Intermittent Fasting" 16:8 (Fasting 16 hours and 2 meals, no snacks, in 8 hours), for 9 weeks now. Fasting detoxifies and cleanes the entire body and heals all the way to the "cellular level." I also do a "50 minute power walk" daily. Consider incorporating daily "Electrolytes and Amino acids" to help with any "dehydration. Keep up the great work Jaime! YES, you can do it!
Good stuff Jamie! Happy for you Man. To lose that much weight takes alot of will power and dedication! Once you mix that exercise in with that diet, game changer! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
This is explained very well for me some odd reason it was an emotional watch I'm 53 used to be athletic never had to worry about what I ate really seems like since the pandemic my metabolism has slowed way down I put on a lot of weight for me heaviest I've ever been in my life and I guess the long and the short of it is I just don't know what I should be eating on a daily basis I've tried many diets it's hard to cook for a family of five when you need to eat differently an inspiring video that is motivated me to start again I appreciate the way you presented it I don't mean this in a bad way but just regular guy who got too heavy and did something about it those videos are hard to find not selling anything not some doctor swearing this is the way to do it and then the next video another doctor tells you do it this way. Watch you guys all the time we have a cruise coming up in 3 weeks I guess what im trying to say is thanks
Congrats - your off to a good start !! - like you , I was 297 lbs -6’2” and was 63 . I did what you are doing starting Sept 2017 - Dropped 60 lbs in time for our NY Caribbean Cruise ( 12 days )end of Jan 2018 - yes , love Cruising ! Didn’t gain a pound . Long story short today I am 195lbs now . Than , I just walked because of low calories . Today , I exercise daily and I am in best shape since I was 40 . This helped me big time - ever time I got smaller shirts and pants I donated the larger ones . NO GOING BACK Done 3 cruises this year and learned to eat smart plus exercise daily on ship . Heading to Caribbean in 5 days for a 14 day cruise and look forward to leaving wearing same clothes lol .
This was such an amazing video. I love the sound of your voice and your eye contact. Your approach to weigh loss is the same as mine. It’s elegant and simple and really focuses on protein, veggies, water, and tracking. Good luck and thank you for taking the time to share. You look fantastic!
You are going from obese to a beast. Proud of you! I dealt with this issue several years ago. I try to encourage other middle age folks to track calories and exercise to lose weight. MFP and a food scale! We have a series called Ship Shape on our channel. Cruising & fitness - odd but some people like it. Keep up the good work! - Eddie
