Hey Mike, Just finished the video thanks for sharing your story! Pretty good money to be making at 18/19 years old being able to work from home! About 5-6 years ago it was very easy to open several hundred boxes ($20,000+ order) of magic the gathering. then open them all, chop em up and sell the singles make a profit, and still end up with a large inventory for future sales as cards fluctuated in price with the play formats. Now however the game changed and you had to switch up the business model ALOT! I scrapped the new cards for the vintage OG Beckett Graded (authenticated) Power 9 (Black Lotus, Moxes). They increase steadily in value and whats crazy is they are a Non-Standard Growth Asset. They can swing up in value better than any S&P 500 stock, and if they decrease in value its usually very little. Most maintain a steady growth, but stuff is getting so rare that they can command a very high premium and spikes (Alpha graded black lotus $100,000+ if available for sale). BTW hows the project civic going?
Not surprised on title my cousin collected storage containers full of those cards and made tons of money off them even traded one deck for a new iphone
My story is a little different with YGO cards on eBay. I sold based on decks I proxied(online fake play testing) that were only available in Japan. Any american cards that added synergy to the deck I would play test with the newly announced cards, buy the cards in bulk online, and then resell the cards once the price of the cards I bought when up more than 200%. My biggest profit was from a card called Summoner's Art, which I bought for $3-5 a pop from vendors online, then sold it for $25-30 a few months later once the deck is was best with came to the states. This is how I made profit in high school, I used online sources to buy and research the cards, play tested them, then bought em up.
Hey mike, I saw your video on how you started with junk yard parts, awesome brother congratulations on your continued success!! I have a question, do you sell new parts now, I’ve been trying to dabble into this because I’m sick and tired of my 9-5 and just don’t know where and how to start? Anyway brother keep up the good work!!
There’s money to be made everywhere, turned 18 a couple days ago and for the past year or so I’ve gotten into all types of trading cards and I’ve made a profit off of every box I’ve bought, I purchased a 60 dollar box of football cards and pulled a card that is worth over a grand and is exploding in value by the day ever since then I’ve been buying just about every box of Pokémon, football and yughio cards I can find it’s amazing because it’s fun to rip the packs and at the same time you can make easy money on it
I am going to start selling on Ebay and Amazon finally! I should have never stopped 10 years ago!! I might have been big by now! Oh well, you live you learn.
#Diymike Long time watcher... I had a couple questions about getting started... I'm in California, do we have to have a Reseller Permit and business license before you can legal buy and sell on Ebay?
Hi man I've just started watching your videos and subscribed, I am very impressed and just wondered if I could have some more advice and opinions of yours? So I have been a collector of many different collectables since I was a kid, I love it and I'm wanting to potentially turn my love for collecting into a second job. I have sold things on eBay every now and then, have gained a lot of stars and feedback from buyers. I want to be a very trusted seller (which isn't like many) I won't sell cards that are damaged or if are damaged price will be deducted, stated and shown in pictures from different angles so they know exactly what they are buying. I am now wanting to start an eBay store which sells different collectables but mainly Yu-Gi-Oh cards, these arnt going to be holy grails or PSA graded cards but more like affordable cards of the past few years and recent cards which I can get a high stock of for relatively cheap and re-selling. I realise I am going to have to do some extensive research before I set this up, I was thinking of checking deck profiles over the past 3 years to see which cards are vital and used in a lot of decks then buying those of a high rarity when they come out for a cheaper price and selling them on for small profits each but because I have a big stock of them I am making a decent profit. Just wondering your thoughts on and advice on how to start up a store? Wether I should buy multiple booster boxes and other products on pre order and sell all the cards, this is risky because I might get losses or keeping track of sets coming out checking price fluctuations, buying off other eBay sellers when they are at the lowest at release/few weeks after releasing and then selling a month later for slightly more profit? I just don't know how to go about this and it's hard to explain over message. For example today I brought 9 copies of miscellaneousaurus premium gold for £5, 4 of the new reprinted blue eyes alternative for £5 each and then sell these a month later for slightly more profit? Any tips on what to do as I need to get big stocks of cards and I just don't know how to do it a financially smart way? Any advice I would appreciate so much!
Booster boxes wont cut it. I once talked to a guy who sells cards as a living, and he told me what he would do was buy CASES of the most recent core set and open the boxes up and sell the cards individually. He said that the secret is buying in BULK, that's the only way to make profit. Buying a booster box or two and selling the individual cards won't cut it. Also understand that yugioh high rarity collectors have a totally different market than yugioh tcg players market, really study this well if you want to enter either of them. TCG market is much easier to understand because essentially you are just buying cases of the newest core set and that's it. Also know the difference between a core set and a collector set.
Dude i started taking my ebay stuff serious this year and currently have clothes and yugioh cards listed and i have to say yugioh cards are making me a killing right now shit is crazy 🔥
@@MoosePolo1. buy limited run packs or old booster boxes then either sell the packs whole or open them and sell any rare cards inside 2. Buy rare cards wait for like a while like 1 or 2 years when they are selling for alot list them at like 5% less than everyone else and you have a guaranteed sell
I’m 16, recently my younger sister got me back into yugioh, I took her to the store and we both bought a pack. I spent $20 on the pack, then I decided to look up the prices and learned if I sold these cards I would make over $50 form selling the rare cards I pulled. That means with that one pack I made $30, I don’t know if it was luck or not. Should I continue doing this method?
Gotta know what to buy. Tbh you can make more money off of straight commons, create decks, archtypes, and lots w em. Fresh casuals and amateur collectors will be interested sooner or later.
You won't get every card in a single booster box. If you open a case of 12 booster boxes maybe. On average you would be lucky to break even on a booster box.
Man I still have my Yugioh Cards from back in the day. I went to regional and national tournaments. I still have my acrylic cased trophy and uncut framed holo sheets that I got for being ranked high. I wonder how much they are worth now lol.
Nationals were only once a year. I only went when it was on the west cost. Usually held in California. Regionals happened at least a few times per year in various cities. The major ones around me like Seattle and Portland had more due to the population.
Lol I bought so many of those yugioh video games that came with the promotional cards, I’d buy them sealed for 100-200$ and I would open them and I would get the cards graded because they were pretty much brand new. I still have all of them and the prices are insane in a PSA 9 or 10 , I have tons of those promos in PSA 9 or 10. Worth over 1000$+
Put it in a hard plastic sleeve and ship with a forever stamp. Otherwise, you'll have to pay USPS 1st class mail for $2.66 on Ebay with the shipping discount, which would heavily cut into profits if you are selling a bunch of cheaper cards. You can make a killing just overcharging on shipping.
I would only use forever stamps on cards that are $8 or less. Everything above that, i'd use 1st class shipping to avoid disputes. From my experience, people don't file false claims on items not being delivered if they paid less than $10. The risk if small enough to take a chance.
the sad thing is that money is way more important than whatever bs they're wasting your time with in high school. they dont teach you how to make money, they just prepare you to drown in student loan debt
WOW... This made me look through my old cards just to find out I have a 1st edition exodia the forbidden one + all other parts... A full set of god cards (1st edition slifer) + lots of blue eyes... Well then...
I have two binders full of yu-gi-oh cards and have been researching the resell prices on cardmavin.com. any info on how I should sell them? Thanks in advance :)
I just found my basement collection. Now I need to figure out what to do with my 1st edition full mint condition sets of LOB and MRD. Thanks for the video!
if you need help finding values for your cards so you can sell individually you can send me pics or if your looking to sell it all in 1 go i can make a offer if you want
@@SKYAThatOneGuy I have an head of exodia I found in my old collection , it’s Lob-124 I was just checking through it to see if any cards would be sold for some good money and it seems this one is pretty rare , it’s not in the best condition it’s all intact but there’s some creases on the back of the card
Great video! How ironic that I am going through my kids Yugioh cards right now to sell them on Ebay! I am working to setup a system where I can photo them fast and post them on Ebay.
also your information is pretty bad, the time your talking about is when youd be lucky to get a single secret rare out of box, sealed product is never a way to make money unless your buying cases on cases for $500-$700 each depending on rhe distributor
I'm stealing... err... borrow this idea. I was contemplating on flippin' sports cards but... this Yu-gi-oh or even better... #Pokemon might be a better plan . Thanks for the #Inspiration! 👍😁
These days, Diymike I've looked into YuGiOh and they do not make any money from opening booster boxes for the cards. The boxes are always more expensive than just the cards altogether. Its dumb these days. The value is in the certain booster boxes themselves Mike. Why i say certain because some of them are not worth jack.
Lime Oh no..You can Definitely make a profit from Yu-Gi-Oh boxes..as an Active Player I know so, Konami always makes the best cards Secret rares Wich typically go for 70+ at release then settle when the format evolves...But many sets from battle of Legends are still worth it since there are many good pulls from it
Buy a 40 dollar noble night deck ( comes with mat sleeves all cards all platinum rare ) buy 3 dollar deck box AUCTION it for 60 and watch people fight over it. Literally seen people throw hundreds of dollars for premade decks they could easily make themselves for like 50 bucks.
i would still watch cartoons until sept 2014 they took down cartoons. How old are you now? YuGiOH was out since 2002, alot of people i knew stopped playing yugioh in 2004 because they got older and we were in middle school, afterwards it started up with kids that were playing it that were much younger than me, bout 4 years typically. All into YuGiOh like it just came out. Now i'm 25 years old, I've bought couple products and waiting for price to increase, its kind of like american muscle vehicles, if you can... CAN find a rare muscle car that they made back in the 60s that were worth big bucks and wasn't used or little mileage, kept great then its worth millions possibly to this day. So i also believe if you keep unopened products, its going to worth tons. My broke ass back then in 2002 couldn't afford cards, i had to literally get them else where. Sometimes buy with my red envelopes, sometimes take my $ I've saved up, sometimes take my mother money. It really depends, my family were broke and wasn't as fortunate as you. I lived in a poor, extremely poor town. San Jose is just south from where i live. I have a family member that lives there. Literally nobody could help me when i was young, chinese don't allow their kids to play games, they are too cheap. I could never find any way to make $ except sell cards at a higher price, opening the booster packs for that rare card is like lottery back when i was a kid.
Only weeb scrubs like you get triggered when someone calls cartoon i.e. Animation anime which is just that. Stop watching degenerate things it clearly isn't helping you.
Chaitali Roy hey bud I feel bad that you have to hate on me. Anime and cartoons are not the same thing. If your calling me a weeb and dumb then how could you not know that. Don't waste my time hating on me you should go do something else. Something that is more productive.
Super rare ultra card jeez 🤣 If you invest $220 on buying the supplies such as an a6 envelope 1000* of them - 3x4 toploaders *1000 of these and eBay stickers ref your business 1000* of them to.. you are set and prepared for making a small business on selling but then you'd need a printer and a cellphone to manage the orders. I personally sell yugioh cards in 2022 on ebay and it's going well. I'm britsh though so we use the £ and it's just different prices. FYI guys buying boxes don't really help much these days your better of buying bulk and expecting nothing. I buy 6x boxes a month which costs £55.99 a box x 6 = £355.94. So I'm already not expecting to make mo ey as I play the game I'm expecting to get what I want to play it with the cards I want. Secondly I then pick out what I won't use and sell in bulk on ebay. Sometimes you'll get a card worth £80 and find 3x copies that's great stuff but then you'll go through alot of orders which by the way is daily and tbe service has to be like 9am till 9pm lol monday to frigging sunday guys. Alot of my orders are £1.89 and eBay buyers are 1 in 1000 for requesting a refund. It's a good side hustle; it'll never pay the rent but it does help in today's life style.
