How I made a Noctua Fan work on my Raspberry Pi 5
In this video, I show how I modified and installed the Noctua NF-A4x10 5V PWM fan on the Raspberry Pi 5 for enhanced cooling performance. Please note that this video is for entertainment purposes only and involves a custom modification that may not be suitable for all users. If you're an enthusiast looking to explore modifications, enjoy the video, but proceed at your own risk.
The Noctua fan is a popular choice for quieter, more efficient cooling, and while this installation works for me, it does require wiring modifications that aren't officially supported. Always consider safer alternatives, like the factory Raspberry Pi cooler, if you're not comfortable with custom modifications.

Fan Control:
In software selecting shutdown will turn off the Pi but the GPIO pins will still be sending 5v and the fan will remain on. I control my fans on/off by cycling power to the Pi when I'm done with its tasks. You can obtain USBC cables with a built in on/off switch to make this easier than plug / unplug.
