J’ai voulu cette fois-ci fabriquer un interrupteur un peu spécial comme on en voit souvent dans les luminaires de type industriels.
Ce genre d’interrupteur se trouve facilement sur internet, et la plupart sont de fabrications artisanales…J’ai donc voulu créer le miens à partir d’un robinet en laiton trouvé au fond d’un tiroir de mon atelier et qui collerai parfaitement avec un prochain projet !
Le principal soucis a été de fixer l’interrupteur sans le modifier ni gratter le plastique noir du bouton afin de l’adapter sur le robinet. Ces interrupteurs sont en effet plutôt solides dans le fonctionnement mais le plastique du bouton rotatif est assez fin. J’ai donc créé un logement à l’aide d’un écrou en laiton pour le maintenir en place et le coller à la colle epoxy.
L’ensemble a ensuite été « soudé » à la colle chaude pour assurer une bonne solidité à l’ensemble et de la sécurité au niveau de l’isolation électrique.
Bien sur, cette vidéo n’est en aucun cas un tutoriel « officiel » pour fabriquer sois-même ce genre d’interrupteur. C’est simplement la méthode qui a fonctionné pour moi avec ce type de robinet et l’outillage que j’ai à ma disposition.
Attention toutefois si vous désirez fabriquer votre propre interrupteur :
- Ne modifiez JAMAIS un élément d’isolation d’un élément électrique pour pouvoir l’adapter (je l’ai malheureusement vu sur certains tutos avec ce genre d’interrupteur rotatif).
Aidez-vous d’un électricien si vous avez des doutes.

This time I wanted to make a switch a little bit special as we often see in industrial lighting.
This kind of switch can easily be found on the internet, and most of them are handmade... So I wanted to create mine from a brass tap found in a drawer of my workshop and that would fit perfectly with a next project!
The main problem was to fix the switch without modifying it or scratching the black plastic of the knob to fit the tap. These switches are indeed quite solid in operation but the plastic of the rotary knob is quite thin. So I created a housing with a brass nut to hold it in place and glued it with epoxy glue.
The whole thing was then "soldered" with hot glue to ensure a good solidity to the whole and security in terms of electrical insulation.
Of course, this video is by no means an "official" tutorial for making this kind of switch yourself. It is simply the method that worked for me with this type of tap and the tools I have at my disposal.
Be careful if you want to make your own switch:
- NEVER modify an insulating element of an electrical component to be able to fit it (I have unfortunately seen this on some tutorials with this kind of rotary switch).
Get help from an electrician if you have any doubts.
