I have my cardmatic tube tester on a mechanics roll-around tool caddy. Just the right height for my tester and I have all of these drawers underneath for storing tubes, resistor/capacitor boxes, etc. And I can move it around as well!

since you did all this it would have been nice to know how you did your power distribution and management. I am also about to start building a workbench (electronic) and it is doing my head in trying to come up with a design that I will feel comfortable with. :)

I was in construction all my life. Some people are taller and have longer or shorter arms. Build a desk to fit your body. I built a house for some people that were all over 6 foot tall. There is a standard for vanities in bathrooms and kitchen cabinets. The wanted there cabinets taller. I reminded them. When you sell this house, the people that want it may be short, so you need to think ahead. Planning a project is the most important part of any project.

Thank you for this... I was wondering about those brackets. Now I know! I just placed an order to Amazon Prime. I remember working for a retail store that the proprietor had erected 2x2 standards and stamped steel 90 degree shelf brackets, combined with home-center particle board shelves for stuff we had in the store room. They were under little stress but sagged terribly. Sometimes at Lowebrows or Home Despot, you can find clear, or nearly clear, old-growth lumber mixed in with their vaunted "center-cut" (IOW, from a 10-yo tree) lumber. Pick them out! Their ignorance is your gain.

Betting particle board was the problem... no good for shelving... always sags... decent plywood for a shelf.

If you want to build it yourself, just google woodglut. I know you will find good solutions for all your ideas.
