Thank you for this tutorial! Just bought my son an Apollo 70cc and it is going to make life easier knowing how to maintain it. It’s been years since I had a motorcycle so this gave me a brush up on the new ones! Thank you!
Quick question.I have rfz dbz40 and the air filter is in the box on the bike.Should this be removed and clean the air filter on schedule. Not very accessible but looking for answer with this bike. Thanks with any help.Brad
Why bother with synthetic? The reason why you need to change the oil is because it is getting dirty, synthetic holds up better over time and doesn't loose it's lubricating properties as fast but it's still going to get just as dirty, just as fast. A big reason for frequent oil changes on these bikes is there is no filter.
Well a reason synthetic is better (with or without a filter) is that is has better heat management properties which can help keep engine temperatures cooler. Synthetic oil is also better at repelling dirt/ debris particles from the very important tight tolerances metal on metal areas. Personally i now run a semi- synthetic oil. You get the benefits of synthetics without the premium cost. And since oil changes should be done so frequently on dirt bikes, youll get to save some money too (compared to full synthetic)
Aaron Greenway man I’m sure it’ll be a lot better than what I’m dealing with now🤦♂️order my bike mid April and still haven’t got it, they’re still out of stock working on getting sticked back up. I guess they been super back up and scammed because COVID but man it’s been bullshit. They’re customer service is HORRIBLE literally u can not get a reply from this company it’s insane I’m about to get a refund and order my bike from else where.
no I’m dealing with a company called wholesaleatv I ordered a X19 from there, I was super excited to get it now I just want my damn money back man it’s ridiculous🤦♂️they’re saying we have to wait another 6 weeks AT MINIMUM! For our bikes to get shipped out I’m fed up with them man they blew it for me
So I got dis bike I don't know nothing about it, don't know what's it called or nothing.. I bought it from off the street.. it was running good at first, but now it's a no go and I did the oil change and spark plugs check too.. sending pics
Thank you for responding bro I appreciate it. Can I get motorcycle type oil at the auto parts store or would I have to order it online? It’s a shame I didn’t find your channel a few months back. I’ve been watching your videos since 5pm today. 🤣 probably watched like 40 videos just today.
How long since you changed the oil last? I checked mine after about 8 hours of riding and it still looked new. I was gonna do it once a week since I ride almost everyday, but decided to wait 2 weeks.
specifically in the video the oil had been very dark, because i had been opening the casing to fix a shifter issue, and then the oil was getting mixxed around and poured back into the casing multiple times. Normally after 10 hours its still pretty gold looking
@@Lookatthebottom Late reply but it greatly depends on the type of riding you do. If you are on easy trails that aren't too muddy or dusty and don't hold it wide open all the time 10 hours would likely be fine. If you are torturing the poor thing maybe every 4 hours, or every couple races. I aim for 8-10 hours myself.
Great video once again. Do you know how to adjust rear brakes? When i push my apollo dbx - 19 out of the garage the rear wheel squeaks as if the pads are to tight but only in one spot. its not continuous.
If the pads are rubbing look on the caliper for a protruding black cylinder on the right side of the caliper, it should have a rubber cap which you take off, then loosen the bolt there with an Alan wrench and the caliper should move freely, adjust it and then tighten the bolt to keep it in the correct position
@@AaronsEnduro Its still in great condition, before changing the rings it was smoking a lot and eating oil wich is that why it ran without oil . after only changing the rings it starts in first kick and got lots of compresion. sounds great
@@AaronsEnduro I dont got one, im sorry . i bought it sh . it was made in 2011 and i believe it still has the original piston on it wich it is in very good condition
adjust the idle screw! look on the right side of the bike and look at the carb, there will be a flat head screw on the side, turn until it takes over ( as in you no longer have to keep revving to keep it alive) then dial it back to a smooth idle
@@AaronsEnduro yeah ahaha I’m working on her this weekend and I’m gonna get the bolt and breaks fixed up change the oil and clean the carbi then another day I’ll get the wheel sorted
Whassup Aaron, So i pulled the clutch case off and a spring loaded piece fell out. i sent you a pic on instagram. would you happen to know where it goes?

They sell air filter wash bags, or just put a ziplock/grocery bag over it. Or just be extra careful when spraying. They also sell exhaust corks to plug the pipe so water doesnt go down
Hey great video man! I'm going to be buying an SSR 140TR-BW in a few days! I'm guessing maintenance with that would be about the same? This is going to be my first bike! Do you have any tips to help keep it running great for awhile?
Whassup Aaron, Yesterday, my son was riding the apollo and all of a sudden, the gear shifter got stuck. Its as if its frozen. it wont budge AT ALL. Any suggestions? Im a DIY'er myself however I dont know where to start or what im looking for and taking to a shop to fix is my very last option.
long story short, you need to pull the passenger side casing off (the right side of the bike) Make sure to drain the oil first lol. Once its opened up, look in the upper left side of the casing and youll see a linkage arm in behind the gears. If you shine a flashlight towards the right of that linkage youll see it caught up against the casing as it became bound up. i got a screwdriver and lightly "pryd" and itll snap back into place without any effort. Unfortunately its a design flaw, as the outer part of the casing( on the inside) has a Protruding nub to press against the opposing end of the foot shift lever. I remedied this by putting a "DIY slide" that sits around the brass foot shifter piece to keep it "pressed" more to the drivers side of the bike. Hard to explain over text but hopefully once you open it up you can make an understanding of this! Best of Luck!
