Hey Daniel, great channel your music income from Artlist blew me away. I have a ton of music I produce in Logic just sat on my hard drive. Would you say in your opinion it’s realistic for a musician to make as much as you did on the site as a starter? Also how much of a role did your other big channel or other social media play in promoting your artlist page? Thanks again!
Man I didn't realise how much money could be made passively from photography and music. Two of my passions! Thanks Daniel, I'll follow the lessons you have given. 🙏🏻
I have been following Mango Street Photography for some time now, And I am absolutely blown away by the business genius you are, and the information you are putting out on this channel now, I am loving it! thank you!
This is 1000000% better than the other "Passive Income" videos on RU-vid. Thank you for the information! (Already binged all of your videos on the channel, you will definitely be hitting 100k subscribers within the next year
Yes! More passive income sources PLEASE! I subscribed to this channel the SECOND you showed me the actual amount you earned. So many wannabes never talk about the REAL thing. Keep it up!
Music is def NOT where the money is at... I did music full-time for 4 years and even had some of my work make it onto US (and European) primetime national television (3-4 different tunes) as background music... Once all was said and done, those 3-4 tunes netted me all of about $50 USD altogether while each tune would take me 2-4 weeks on average from start to finish. I had around 1000 projects (tunes both finished and unfinished, about 15-20% of them finished) on my hard drive and spent several thousand on computers, software (DAWS, vsts), books (mostly on mixing and mastering) and gear/instruments/keyboards (1 hardware synth, 1 midi keyboard, etc.). Don't do music unless it is your life's passion (as it was mine) and you don't mind doing it for free. Part of me wishes I could get those years back but I did enjoy them and a passion is a passion.
I wouldn’t doubt it at all. Getting a sustainable source and you’re good to go. I’m into investing on Wall Street and I call say for a fact you wouldn’t seem surprised when he speaks of so much passive income.
No doubts man but just as it could be money yielding it could also be capital consuming. Newbies are always advised to go about it with help. I for one I’m scared of how broad and complicated the market can be. I’ve seen it getting traders capital down
Owen Brian it’s easy man. Lol no so easy. It’s no lies when he speaks of how broad the market is. Indeed it’s very correct. I would not be making profit if I wasn’t partnering with an expert. His bio page below hovikmorte. com I follow his guide and it’s been lucrative for me
This is by far the most informative video i've watched on passive income. Every one else is trying to sell courses or involved in types of e-commerce I have in which I ZERO interest or talent. I'm signing up for Stocksy, how many galleries do you upload a month? How quickly did you start making an income?
Nowadays, it's been maybe like 10 photos every 2 months, but that's mostly because we are a bit busy. A few years ago, Rachel would do dedicated shoots specifically for Stocksy and then she was uploading more frequently - maybe two shoots a month. I think sales rolled in within the first month or two of signing up, but it's been 5 years so it's hard to remember. Think of what is pretty topical at the moment or upcoming holidays where you may be able to do a shoot with that theme and you'll likely see more sales sooner.
I love how informative and candid your videos are. Also really refreshing to hear about passive income from a more creative industries pov. Keep it up, Daniel! :)
Wow, this guy started to talk and after 2 minutes I was hooked! Soft spoken, butter voiced, so pleasing to listen to. His content is also new and informative.
Your creativity to gain passive income is super inspiring Daniel! I'm a creative person too and would love to explore some of these options, especially stock photography/videography
Wow - I'm actually currently working on a project for artlist too. Good to know that it actually pays off. Would be great to hear more passive income ideas for musicians!
Great video! I'm really surprised at the artlist money, that's so great. I really though music licensing was a much lower tier these days, but I hadn't thought about the new sites/models for selling it. I think putting some focus on creating some passive or near passive income sources is very powerful right now. We are going through times where have a diversity of income sources is paramount. Good stuff 💪
This is the first passive income video I watched where it did not constantly wonder "what are they not telling me". So happy to subscribe to your channel 🙏🙏🙏
Another big step that's often hard to overcome. Just doing it. that initial first step is always the hardest for me. -- thanks for putting this video together! super insightful and helpful. Sub'd!
That is MAD. Thanks so much for sharing. If you upload your own music to youtube can you still upload to sites like Artlist? Same with your photos and Instagram? Do you have to keep it all separate?
Really great seeing all these different income sources. People love to make videos likes these and list the same handful of income sources (dividends, interest, rental income, etc.). It's awesome to see someone make so much money from their creativity. Thanks for sharing!
The first passive income video worth value. Genuinely, most content creators just talk nothing just to fill time. Appreciate the content. You have a new subscriber 💪
Bro!! Thanks so much for putting out REAL business content. I will certainly be following and also looking to start creating passive income using these avenues. Appreciate you 🙏🏻
Very inspiring video. Would definitely enjoy even more ideas, if you do make another video on the topic. As a musician/producer myself, I actually never thought of utilising something like Artlist. How many tracks do you have submitted in total? And would you still consider this something worth doing for someone who has no "fame benefits" (for a lack of better wording) from running Mango Street (which I saw Artlist mentioned when they tweeted out your release). Thanks! Edit: also, can you still release your music via Distrokid when you submitted it to Artlist? Saw your Distro account and had to ask that as well.
Including alternate versions of songs (instrumentals, etc) there's maybe like 50-something. I've got another 20 more in the works. I think some initial promotion helped but the bottom line is if the music is good for videos, it will get downloads. A lot of people still don't know I make music on Artlist since I use another name unrelated to me or Mango Street. And yes, I still distribute it w/ Distrokid.
This is unreal! Is there any chance you could make a video on how you make your music? Don’t have to give away all your secrets but I totally watch a video like that! ☺️
Really interesting to hear it laid out so simply like this! As a musician, I would love to hear some more detail on Artlist - the money you're talking about there is WAY more than I assumed was feasible with library music (although presumably the popularity of Mango Street does a lot to boost the exposure of your music to budding videographers).
This was very insightful and relatable when i tried to get started to move away from the typically 9 to 5. Totally agree when you mentioned the fun being sucked out monetising your passions. I remember when my photo made $1 after being downloaded twice on a stock website and i was so happy! Keep up the good content in these challenging times!
My entire working career has been spent doing things I cant say I enjoy. It gives me hope to know you can capitalize on hobbies like this. Watching videos like these is changing the way I look at life.
So much good info in this video! I've been waiting for too long to get into stock photography and videography. Thanks so much for breaking that down and everything else in this video man!
I am very curious about how those Artlist numbers add up. If you ever made an Artlist Revenue breakdown in the future I would be super interested in that! I am definitely not out to call anyone a liar, however, that is quite the chunk of change you gathered from Artlist. Cheers!
Thanks for your advices. Before i watched this video, I used just RU-vid and offline sells when shooting a music video. I thought about video and photo stocks but didn't try to begin. I would get more money and much time, if i started in the close future.
You know, i remember seeing your first video on this channel about how you traded stocks and that was cool. But this one, i couldn't believe that this kind of passive income generates. So awesome and thank you so very much for this video. By the way i do watch you other Channel "Mango street" too
Can you make a separate video on the one about making songs and submitting to Artlist? I also have a music background and had no idea you could make potentially $2k/mon making songs.
Bloody incredible! Stay at home Dad here already set up on super small passive income but looking to expand on it. Thank you for your insights very helpful!
Thanks for putting these videos together. Just ran through about six of your videos. Love how transparent you are. Would love if you could add information about the impact of taxes and if you simply have to set money aside for tax season, or if you have a different strategy. Thanks again!
Thank you. Creative and unique ways you mentioned which I never knew about. People are always talking about investing in real estate and selling digital products but I had no idea how to get started.
Ohhh so you're the man behind Generation Lost on Artlist !! you're such a great musician !! You're one of my favorite musician on that platform. Keep up the good work man.. didn't think i'll meet u here
Daniel, thank you so much for starting this channel. You have no idea how much you're helping me survive out here as a (newbie) digital nomad. Plus everything with Covid. Thank you so much
Thanks for the tips! Honestly, one of the best videos on passive income I've seen - super straightforward and helpful. I'd love to see more on other passive income ideas that you have!
To this day I’m still trying to figure out how I can monetize my illustrations or create passive income from it. It’s already over saturated with the type of drawings I do, and then I haven’t figured out the need versus time dilemma I come across if I were to start creating...guess I’ll stick to stocks, great video though
Incredibly happy to have found this channel, I’ve been a long time MangoStreet fan but this right here is exactly what I needed. Of course, I subscribed and am going to implement some of the ideas you’ve outlined here. Here’s to an EPIC next 12 months! -Storm
About the music thing I'm an author on audio jungle. But I want to explore other stock library as well. Can you so a vido on how to get you music on artlist? Or specific video on how you get started on artlist
Thanks for the video. It would be awesome if you could make another video about Artlist, your story with it and how you compose your music on Ableton as it sounds super cool.
Hey Daniel, great video! 🔥 Thanks for such great contents. I would really love to see a in-depth video on passive income dedicated to photography and video contents! Thanks again!!!
thank you for making this video! I loved that it was not overrun with adds and the information was amazing! I am going to have a look at all my photos!
This was so helpful, thank you Daniel! I’ve been thinking about starting stock photography bc I only get a few photoshoot opportunities a year, hopefully this will generate some income :)
definitely need to get some more ideas going. I love the fact that you didnt use anything that required a previous audience. But in another video could you make one about setting up a Preset store?
Your new channel has been absolutely amazing. Would you make another video on stock photography? I loved the one you and Rachel made and I would love to have a more numbers and figures one like this one
I would really appreciate a video about passive income for students like or something - no stuff, no real passion, but a lot of energy to create stuff. Let's say about 200-300$ per month of passive income. Can You give us some advices? I really enjoy Your new chanel.
Thank you so much for making this video...those 9min 52s will be make me hopefully quite some money in the future. Was not realizing that I am missing out that much on not capitalizing my hobbies!
Awesome video! Thank you! I have been searching stock footage sites and never finding what I’m looking for so I end up shooting it. Should start uploading those clips. Would love the learn more about how to do that.
Very informative video. I am a videographer and I make music. I make most of my money off freelance video but you're inspiring me to do stock video with my blackmagic 6K and to release some more music and pitch them to a stock site or sync licensing. Good Shit! Subbed
Informative vid! I joined Artlist earlier this year and have been curious about roughly what I could expect from the downloads. Now I'm really stoked 😀
