Is it hard getting a business license to become a distributor? Your website is super clean I like it. we started making card videos if anyone wants to check them out! Gave you a sub too.

Im gonna be real honest with you, i sell all my commons for 25 cents, even if i know they are worth a penny. I have a day job so money off this is just a side hustle and dosnt bother me BUT people will cards for that because they want 5, 10 or more just from one seller. I say do what works for you and keep at it.

Why would you put cards online and not expect to sell them? I would assume that you would put things in place that would adjust for someone buying 500 3 cent cards. In a business, you have to plan for every scenario that could arise.

I’ve found with rares and vmaxes that packaging them into packs and selling them for $10 for a pack of fifty that contain x amount of commons, uncommons, and rares that I tend to make a decent return with EBay. Any super valuable cards are sold as singles and staples for current meta I try and stock up on so people buy four copies. Getting bulk from recent sets something like quickball I bough for 3 cents and it sells for 40 cents and you sell a play set + shipping and do that repeatedly it really helps the effort of going through bulk.

Over the past year I've been working on my TCG player account. I am only selling cards I've opened. It is taught me a lot of lessons of the business world. I'm on the grind I have 13,000 listed about 10,000 more to go hopefully having a minimum of 33 cents will get me to the right place

I think this video was a very good one to see, and it’s very important because there’s a lot of misconceptions around the bulk market and stuff. I had a quick question regarding bulk and my local game store. My local game store buys bulk for around $12 per 1000, there’s probably a 99% chance they go through it and pull out all the valuable/playable cards that could make them a couple cents. I went to their tcg player store and they are selling bulk for $25 per 1000. Is this normal? I mean, why would you buy that if you know that all of the good cards have been picked out? They also sell some stuff way over market value on TCGplayer, I’m talking $5 for a surfing pikachu v. I understand trying to make a profit but it says that they have over 2500 sales and I can’t imagine anyone wanting to buy at their prices, especially since it’s really easy to find them cheaper. Is there something I’m missing? Is there a service they are providing that compensates for the high prices? I’m just curious and I want to know. Again, great video

Just watched this, I buy and sell bulk but im very picky about how much i pay and where i buy it from. I am a direct seller with tcgplayer as well. Before i was direct i had got 3 500 card orders because my prices were so low. So now my minimum price for any c/uc card is $.04 to deter mass quanities being bought.

I just hit lv 3 on tcgplayer recently, only have around 600 cards listed....probably another 10k to list but I'm still waiting for some storage boxes so I can separate stuff....

im wondering if card stores actually sell bulk to someone in thousands or is a home seller stuck to trying to find people online to buy bulk from?

It's kind of funny to see how the difference is for the US-EU market. Here in the EU it is very rare as a seller to ever pay for shipping, here the buyer always pays for the shipping and that's how it is set up with Cardmarket, fb groups, ebay and such. Maybe you could combat it with higher prices and then include the shipping? Idk tbh just a thought, it must be a cultural thing I guess

For cheap commons and uncommons, what do you think is the sweet spot number (least painful for the seller) to buy from a single seller in a single transaction on tcgplayer?
@CardboardEmpires
@CardboardEmpires 2 года назад
That's a good question and it's tough to give an answer that works well for everyone, but I'd say anything South of 100 cards and I can get into the "Large Envelope" rate for shipping. I charge $.99 for shipping so I can make that work, some of the shops that charge $0.70 might say 20 is their ceiling to break even. It's a game of inches, not miles :)

So many points to hit on haha 1, it's insane that the consumer is so out of control that a store owner has to feel icky for admitting to selling his product above distribution cost. Like the entire point of a store is you buy things in bulk that we don't wanna buy in bulk so you get a lower price than we pay for a smaller portion. 2, your concept of mistakes on our part when it comes to selling bulk, like personally i rarely sell any cards, like it's gotta be worth a lot for me to even deal with the hassle of selling a card, but i will purge bulk occasionally. So anything that I'm not really willing to deal with within my very limited infrastructure is going to be fair game. It's more worth it for me to just purge a large mass of cards than to sort out things that will sell for a buck or two. I just don't have the time or interest in doing that and I'd imagine that's the feeling most people have when purging bulk. Lastly, I'm still shocked nobody has done the rudy alpha investments model for pokemon. Have a 20 dollar patreon, anyone who's a member is allowed to buy up to a certain amount of boxes at slightly above distribution then a weekly or monthly sale on top. It seems ripe for the picking if anyone has the distribution connections and shipping capabilities. I don't really know what the spread is on regular open market current sealed product though.

I don't get how it's worth it at the $1 bulk level, you have to invest so much time putting these cards up for sale, inventorying them, picking them, buying them, flushing them.

It’s worth it because of the ROI percentage, not the dollar to dollar percentage. Also, developing systems to save time and money also increase profitability

There needs to be a common practice of not selling commons and uncommons under 25 cents. Everyone racing to the bottom is bankrupting each other. At 25 cents a piece, a buyer is still getting their deck built for much, much cheaper than they would if they were to open packs for it. We open $5 packs and sell the entirety for 30 cents. It's crazy.
