Doug, these are 2 framers being set up for raising queens. The 4 frames of brood in the bottom box are set up for honey flow that starts in May 6-8 weeks out up in the hills. My area doesn't have a big flow, but enough for them to build some until May when I move them up into the hills. Temps right now are roughly 35- 40*f nights and 60-70*f days. Thanks for the comment.
Emily, these are just mutts as they are open mated, but do lean to the Carnolian side. But there's enough Italian in the mix to notice in build up. As far as the loader, yes, it's home made. Kinda like my queens it's a mutt of mixed parts to make something happen. Thanks for the questions!
