Great info… what about wax moth in your empty boxes with drawn frames?

I usually don’t have much issue with wax moth in that case. It’s more an issue for me when a colony dies and I don’t realize it soon enough. Then the wax moth wreaks havoc!😅🐝

@@thehivedoctor13 so a dry, sunny storage place seems to be good enough? I’m a beginner and it was difficult to get drawn comb in the first 2 years, don’t want the wax moth to destroy it :) Thanks, 🙏🏼

@zelezobeton Dry and cool would be best but even better would be yo store your equipment in stacks and use Para-moth tablets. That stuff keeps moths out!! Take a look at it here (and it should last a long time). amzn.to/4a2wq3L

I hang my frames from the ceiling with space between them. The ceiling of my shed is full. Lol!

@FOXHAVENHIVES Haha! I’ve seen pictures of that way of hanging frames and always thought it would be cool to do that 🐝

I just purchased 3 established colonies. Transported last Tuesday, performed preliminary inspection today (Sunday). Found all three to be honey bound with not much brood, eggs or larvae . As I left the apiary there appears to be swarming activity from the largest colony. Other than to set up swarm traps and provide empty frames, how can i get a grip on this problem? I met you at the Ellijay picnic this month and my wife bought your book for me, which I enjoy much, as well as your video presentations. Thank you !

Hey!! Okay, I understand your situation. Hmmm, I would verify a queen in each colony and/or queen cells in the one you think swarmed. If there are multiple capped queen cells then you could share them with the other colonies, thus re-queening them. You may need to add more supers if they are in fact honey bound. If you don’t have any, extract some honey to allow more room to store and alleviate congestion.

Please, how far does a swarm of bees have to travel to find a place to live
@thehivedoctor13
@thehivedoctor13 5 месяцев назад
That’s a great question and I’m sure there are many variables. In my experience within a couple to three miles radius. 🐝

White is the color used for years ending in a 1 or 6. 😁🐝. So we have two more years before then.
