April's budget was a big challenge. When your goal is paying off debt, how do you navigate round gift buying and social activities without spending too much? Hopefully you'll get some ideas from this video.
My first week of April was horrendous. A truck repair, eye glasses for me, contacts for hubby, a car repair, a $560 tax bill and HOA fees. Well around $2500! Luckily I had most of it saved … not particularly for these things but just sitting in our savings. I’ve been paying down debt since January last year. I didn’t try hard last year and I have really buckled down this year and the balances are looking better.

@@MoneyMadeMagic I was better prepared this year than I would have been in the past. I still have a little in savings and will eventually start contributing to it again. I have 1 credit and 1 loan left to pay off, not counting the mortgage. The credit card, I think I will have done by July. The loan… in my budget planning… is scheduled to be paid off next February I have a weekly meeting with my budget to check in how it’s going. Each week, I talk to my budget, much like it is a kid that is bad with money, and I tell it where to put money. I think the turning point in my brain was… I always thought I was bad with money. Instead, my new thought is my budget is bad with money. I, however, can tell my budget what to do with that money. I am learning to “manage” my money by telling it where I want it to go. Still have to tell it to go places I don’t want but I tell myself we all need electricity if we want to live with modern conveniences. LOL
@@sharon2436 I absolutely love your mindset! That's brilliant. I'm learning to master money too .. my belief used to be "I'm not good with money" .. but changing that mindset is everything isn't it? X
