This is the process that I use when trying to determine the hardness of the lead I am using for casting bullets. This is the process I use and it works good for me. For this project, I’m trying to develop a load for 10 mm hard cast and want to get the BHN north of 25. I have heard that you can quench wheel weights and it will get them into the 20s, but I have not tried it. I might do a video at some point Testing that method as well as heat treating already cast in powder coated bullets to see how it impacts the hardness. In the meantime, here is my Short video.
