First of all, stunning finish on all of it. Where it could've been finished basic, you really added smart choices that both have a crazy good look and functions so well. The thoughtfulness about how the water flows, designing for longevity. Dang, that's the sign of a craftsman. Nicely done man.

So how do you stop debris and water getting trapped between the ledger board and the metal siding? I would think somehow making the flashing divert water on to the roof would be key here, so somehow you've got to get flashing behind the wall siding and onto the top of the roof to prevent issues between the metal siding and the ledger board. Just my 2 cents.

Awesome awning. Great job. Do you have any idea how I can mount something like this on vinyl siding? You think I could just flash under the vinyl siding strip? Would I need to cut a J channel?
Thank you 🙏. For vinyl siding, I would remove or cut slightly over sized hole for the awning. Then I would use j channel on all for sides and install a “L” flash on top
I think there would be two options for flashing to a brick wall. Option 1: I would just use a “L” flashing on top of the roof and mount it to the brick using Tapcon screws. Then take a good quality clear roof pitch and put a bead where the flashing meets the brick. Option 2: cut a groove into the wall, preferably in a horizontal mortar joint. Then insert a z flashing where it sticks into the wall and on top of the roof. Attach to wall with Tapcon screws. Lay a bead of clear roof pitch into the slit area where flashing meets the wall. This would be a better seal solution but is more extensive. Hope this helps!
I get my through a local metal roofing supplier, Central States Manufacturing . You can look for a metal roofing supplier or a big box store, such as Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards can also order it in.
For a 14’ span, the design of the awning over the window in this video would have to be modified. One could do it with a beam on corbels to support the rafters. However the larger awning in this video that I show at the end would be a great design for a wide span like you are describing! It uses a double 2x4 knee brace to support each rafter.
