I am so close to move to Canada and the fears started to show. After this video I am much better to face this new challenge! Thanks a lot for this video!
This is life saver... Merci beaucoup🥰.. The small nuances (take a screenshot).... Like we don't need any effort to comprehend ur videos. It's just so simple, crisp and bang on...... Love all of your videos. I think I have already watched most of them. And feel like what new m I gonna discover now😂
Well informed video. Reminds me of my situation when I moved to Canada in 2016 as a permanent resident alone. It was equally challenging and exciting at the same time.. The experience one could gain being a sole explorer is priceless. Fast forward I am in better place now to where I started, resiliency is the key. Lived in Toronto all these until I decided to move to west just to be close to nature and better life. style..
Did the same thing except I had a couple of relatives living there but I left the country within one year.I have never experienced anything so cold empty and depressed... I had very high expectations but the reality or I'd say the dark side of Canada was unbearable for me... non-existing Social life is what makes a lot of people to leave in my opinion.I had been told all of this before I went but I didnt believe and didnt listen and so I learnt hard way unfortunately.Well, whatever, we all have a different taste for everything in life...just want to add that before Canada I had lived in London for many many years and I have to say Canada doesnt even come close its 2 different worlds why did I always think that the grass is greener on the other side is beyond me.
Thanks for sharing your experience Michal! It’s interesting what you say about your London experience, I’ve had friends call London call and dry in relation to people relationships. I guess go each their own! Where did you move after Canada?
@@MakeThatChange Everyone has a different opinion but honestly I've never made more friends than I did in London ... Also the social life, night life, the atmosphere of city is just out this world whereas in CAN everything seemed dead I could not possibly handle it mentally. Also very few to almost zero job opportunities, cost of living is incredibly high and it doesnt match with two jobs, no education or even things like driving license is accepted unless it was issued in Canada. All these things just added up on my situation... I went back home for a while but will be moving back to the UK soon :)
I’m a Canadian Citizen raise almost of my life in Canada and work in a nursing field ! Deep down it’s become a socialism and communist health care not free got from tax payer . Social life seems dead overtime if your a new arrival it’s doesn’t seem bother much but overtime Canada country it’s freezing cold summer deadly humid especially in Montreal minorities suffer to make a living etc…, so many disadvantage Canada trust me not as the world wiew as a prosperity’s country . I’m moving out from Canada!!! Dream come true USA 🇺🇸 liberty, decent living and happy lifestyle as long you choose Wich states you wanted to raise your families . 12 years in USA 🇺🇸 love every moment of my life 🙏🏽💜🇺🇸
@@vidanaps714 most of the new arrivals will realize the truth sooner than most people think BUT its hard to admit it its difficult to admit to yourself let alone your family back home that you've been fooled coz you've put so much into it especially money! Of couse, if someone's coming from a third world country that's different, everything else will be better than that
I had the doubts of how to prepare myself, specially how to work things when I travel to a new country. The adequate information of how to plan, oversee myself, this video has definitely helped. Much stronger with an amazing experience i was able to gather, it really is helping a lot. I look forward to reach out to people and stay connected.
Thank you for making this video and channel as well. You will be helping a lot of people planning to move here in Canada. We were an immigrant too and moved here 3 years ago. I agree 100% to all the things you have said. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot for your contribution. I liked when you said that "learn to have new friends in Canada", I hope to get to Canada and start a new life. I really appreciate this message of hope, best regards!!!
AirBNB the first month is good for so many reasons. You have an address; if you have to fill in forms, change your DL, find a translator ... I did the same thing when I moved to Australia, and now when I move to Ecuador. There is an element of safety being with people who know the neighbourhood, and have chosen to live there.
A reasonable video focusing on what matter most. And encourages at best for someone planning to immigrate. That lessons doesn't apply to Canada only, but elsewhere. Both of you and Anastasia are doing a remarkable job. Thanks
I love your videos, I got my working holiday visa approved this week and plan to move to Toronto alone next March 2022 I can’t wait to meet cool peoples like you’s.
I manage to rent apartment from Europe before going to Canada, but then I realised how lucky I was. Another way to make new friends are inter nationals and meetup. I did most steps in my first weeks, people from worked helped me. What made me leave Canada was job market and cultural shock I got. I realised I don't like Toronto so I relocated to the country that fit my needs bette and I am not ashamed of saying "no Toronto is not for me" but nevertheless if was amazing learning experience. Keep doing a great work you both will help newcomers and those who plan moving to Canada.
@@MakeThatChange Thank you! I am and even though there was a moment I realized Toronto, mostly due to job market, is not for me I think I had a good time there. Also, this is my personal view, Toronto and Canada, but maybe Toronto especially is a right place to start expat life because no one is obvious foreigner there. I don't think I will have smooth start in Switzerland without Canadian experience.
I'm also planning to moving alone there's next year/later (insyaallah, cz i still preparing everything carefully before I really leave my home country), btw thanks for your advice. may i know do you moving after getting job offer or after getting your Express entry approved? :)
Since you did plan D mean you probably land your job in plan A. Nobody so analytical and thorough to do an accurate 'get a job' plan can be underestimated in the labor market.
I'm moving *back* to Canada after 12 years in Hong Kong. I'm terrified. And everybody I know is in Canada. My friends and family are there. Still, terrified.
Unfortunately, Airbnb has been "invented" 2 years AFTER I landed in Canada. So, no I was not able to use it. But I was able to negotiate a 2 weeks stay at a cheap hotel (sheets changing and cleaning only once a week). I even used the hotel address to open a bank account. I also moved alone, with absolutely no help, and no one picked me up at the airport. Everything was exactly as planned months before landing in Canada. The only problem that left me speechless was "references". If you want to rent an apartment you need references. If you want to apply for a job you need references. How do you resolve these references in a country where no one knows you? I have faxed them! I asked former employers and landlords from my home country to fax references to a Canadian landlord where I filled out a rent form. It worked! I also used the emailed version -they sent me a copy by email - to get a job.
Dear Anna, thanks a lot for such a positive and informative video! :) It's definitely a brave decision to move to Canada alone and it's a huge motivation to see a person who did it and succeeded! Though, I'm wondering which plan out of 4 that you mentioned in the video worked out back in 2019? How long did it take for you to find your first job? Will appreciate for your sincere answers 🤗
Thank you for watching, Julia!😊 I got my first job within my field after 4-5 weeks in Canada. I had my resume ready, started applying for jobs while still in my home country, about a month prior to my flight to Canada. Every resume was tailored to each position. And I kept my Linkedin profile updated and was actively networking.
Is there anything positive about moving to Canada? I hope to see a video about that. I don't understand why I hear some foreigners still considering to move there when I've seen nothing but videos of all the negative stuff and why people should leave Canada. I'm a Canadian who's born outside of Canada and have lived my entire life outside of Canada. I've only been back for vacation. But in a year's time, I may have to make the ultimate decision whether to move to Canada or stay put in Asia. All those negative videos out there are pretty scary to hear about bad healthcare and rising cost of essentials.
Nice video, you still have to be a little careful in Canada every year around 12k people goes missing in British Columbia alone in Canada around 40% of those people are found, how many people are murdered is up to interpretation. Canada is a good country but you still need to take care and keep in contact with family etc.
Hi! Thanks for your video. I suggest using the names of the countries instead of "Third world country" since that term can be very offensive. Thanks again✌
Would you please talk about the express entry? do you need to have a job before landing in canadà or you begin looking for a job being there? And well il would be amazing to know all the steps for express entry.
Hi! I think this video should be helpful ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4cRtSoBO3Os.html As for having a job - it’s not required prior to landing, but it’s definitely a nice to have, so you can land and feel confident that you’ve already conquered task #1 that all newcomers go through
But wait, you didn't mention how you got inside Canada. You just applied through the Express Entry program and got enough points to enter and later started looking for a job? Or did you have an invitation from an employer beforehand? Maybe you will not be able to see my comment, but if anyone can, please tell me :) P.S. I am going to receive a Master's Degree in 2 years, and my English skills are excellent, and I even speak some French, but I have no long-time job experience. Is there a chance for me to enter Canada via Express Entry or are my dreams unrealistic?
I had received an express entry visa to enter Canada. I did not have a job offer - I started looking for a job after I got to Canada, and was lucky to get my first job relatively soon - it did require for me to move to a smaller city for a bit
@@MakeThatChange Thank you! :D If you don't mind me asking, how much professional experience did you already have when applying for Express Entry? Also, what specialities were written on your Bachelor\Master degree and what IELTS scores did you have? And did you know any French, or was IELTS enough for you to be approved as a skilled worker in the Express Entry system?
@@awesomebearaudiobooks I had 5 years of experience, no French, English CLB 9 (if I remember correctly), Bachelor and Master degree of Petroleum Engineering (assessed by WES)
I'd really like to move to Canada and work as any job, literally, the economy i much better than my current country, let's say, I wanted to work as security. My biggest concern is how to legally be allowed to stay and work in Canada until I get the legal citizenship, I don't know what papers I need, I don't know anything, and my plans are really big. It's as if, I had a can of food to eat, but nothing to open it with.
You should start your research on Canada.ca website. It has all types of immigration programs listed with step by step instructions and check lists of documents that you need.
Anyone here with any experience as a new comer from EU moving to Victoria, BC? I just got my invitation to apply for a work permit. Thinking of going to Victoria but wondering what it’s like. Anything stopping me from working at places like Walmart or Tim Horton’s?
Hello! Thank you for your videos. Would you have any tips for an advertising professional? I am a graphic designer and I have an advertising bacgkround. I am planning to shift to Canada and am ready to create my EE profile. I am aware that IT and engineering jobs are top notch in Canada. I haven't heard anyone speak of advertising yet. So i was wondering how I should prepare myself. Thanks!
My tip #1 for you would be to start networking even before you come to Canada. We made a video on that topic a few weeks ago, you can check it out here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xtoT1ckli0M.html Good luck 😊
Hi myself Dr Meenu Sharma from India , College Principal and mother of an autistic boy of 25 years old and my husband is doctor. Want to move to Canada for settlement of my son.Can u guide me ?
How can I make a decision to choose a city to settle while one got so many job opportunities and the other one got few jobs opportunities but a bright chance to getting the PR What should I do? Anyone
@@MakeThatChange Disregard visa issue (e.g. study permit, work permit, and/or PR permit), very little impact or challenges for me because 0. People around me still call me Anna. 1. I am working as the same position/jobtitle in the same industry as what I did before college in back home. 2. Rarely have to speak English but 95%~100% chance I speak the same language as before (i.e. similar ethnic community, and very strong ethnic community support from school to work place) 3. I only move around where metro rail system (i.e. SkyTrain) could take me to, which are pretty much occupied by my ethnic community group. 4. Very similar street and building view as what I had over before back home. 5. Employer disregard my college degree which I got here in Canada but treat/valuate me as if I got only high school diploma (before I immigrate to Canada). 6. The same level of living expenses, somehow lower, as back in hometown. 7. Much better air quality here even in the worse part of the Great Vancouver Area.
I’m Italian and have been to Toronto 2 years ago and I still miss the city. I’m thinking about coming back as a international student ( post graduate ) 1 year and use the year after of work permit to get The point for express entry. I’m 28 do you think that’s it’s too late for post graduate and find work the year later at 29 ? Thank you for the videos !
@@MakeThatChange really? Great news I have bachelor in communication ( 3 years ) and specialized in marketing ( 2 years ) in Italy. Now I would like to do a post graduate marketing management at Humber
I don't understand why should I come to Canada if it can't help me find a wife. What other reason I need to relocate to a new country. I left my country 16 years ago and I'm still single, nobody explains to me that I won't be alone in Canada too. Just talking about weather and healthcare...
I really enjoy your channel and content, however assuming that all third world countries are unsafe is a bit rude and not necessarily true. Please don’t forget that such generalizations can be harmful to people coming from these countries. 🙏🏽
Are there Russian communities around Toronto, Waterloo and Hamilton? Where? I love Russian culture and like the mentality of Russian women as well. I went to Saint Petersburg 3 years ago, and found out that Russian people are more friendly than Americans for instance.
