Julie, I can't begin to thank you enough for the time you spent making these videos and listing the links and supplies. it's a tremendous amount of work but please know how grateful for this information and education. You are so thorough and clear. In short, you are awesome and I appreciate you.
Hi Julie! I am new to mosaic art and I found your channel a couple of weeks ago and have been going through all the vids! I love your style and especially how descriptive and detailed you are with your vids for "newbies" like me!! I am not new to crafting as I have been doing mixed media art for years all involving wood, polymer clay, watercolor and acrylic and my newest love... fiber art!! Yes, I am one of those people who want to TRY EVERYTHING and do, eventually!!! LOLOL I have been interested in mosaic tiling for years, but haven't gotten around to starting on it yet! I do extensive research on things before I start to do anything and that is where your vids came it! Thank you for your informative style helping me to get ready to take the leap with this new, what I am sure will be an addictive love to add to my crafty resume!!! P.S. the peacock was too funny! :)
Hi Felicia! Thank you for such kind words!😊 It's great to hear you're enjoying my channel and getting value from the videos. That's my goal! Sounds like you're well-rounded in the creative arts. What a resume! Personally, I find mosaic art addicting which is why I kept going after creating my first piece. Do your research and learn, and then jump in and make.....even if it's messy. You got this!✨ Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🙌
Hi Judy! Great to hear that you even got your husband to watch.🙌 Impressive! Mirror in mosaic is so much fun to work with. Enjoy! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here.🌟
Hi Entrophy Entrophy! It's great to hear you're enjoying my videos and getting value from them.😊 That's my goal! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Ho Julie, thaks for your videos. There is one thing I would like a video about, being the more confortable table to work mosaic, if standed up, seated...
Hi Cristina! Great to hear you're enjoying my videos.😊 I'll add your video request to the list....it's a great one! Thank you! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Julie, I usually use broken stained glass that I get from stained glass artist. I am not always sure that it is clean so I usually end up keeping a spray bottle with alcohol just to make sure it is clean. I also sometimes mark my glass for cutting with a permanent marker which I try to clean off. Will grouting take care of that step for me. I am not a professional. I usually make for friends and family but I do have fun with it. Thank you for such useful information!!
Hi B Salters! That's a great tip on keeping a spray bottle of alcohol close by to clean things off. I might have to snag that idea!😉 If you're grouting a stained glass mosaic, and the glass has permanent marker on it, then yes, most or all of the marker will rub off with sanded grout. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🙌
Your videos are really helpful. Thank you so much. I want to be ready and knowledgeable when I take a class from you. Don't know yet what my favorite material will be. Would love to see you incorporate buttons in your mosaics.
Hi Cindy! Awww, it's great to hear you're enjoying my videos and getting value out of them.😊 Buttons are a fun tesserae for mosaic. Have you used them before? I'll add your video request to my list. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
I belong to a button club and have taken a class from Julie Mazzoni, and will, start on another class with her next month. I want to do a mixed mosaic, using a variety of materials in including buttons. I did a small mixed media heart I made for a gift and believe I used a button. Hope to incorporate many more in upcoming projects. Look forward to seeing what you create in a piece.i enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the video. What are good (inexpensive) sources for purchasing glass tile (both regular & vitreous)? Appreciate anything you can share. Thanks.
Hi Julie, How did you order such a nice big box of many different sheets of tile in many different colors? It looked like a 20-30 lb. box that you were taking sheets of tile out of in this RU-vid video. I checked out all your amazing Amazon recommendations, but the tile and glass I see on Amazon is mostly sold in 1 lb and 3 lb quantities to the common purchaser. I have bought scrap glass in 10-lb boxes before, mostly on Etsy, but I do not see those beautiful large sheets of tile you displayed. I only want to buy bulk now since I'm entirely hooked on mosaic work:). I started building my supplies in my studio last year, but the hard way----I bought smaller quantities, which is always way more expensive. Your RU-vid videos are so wonderful, Julie, and I'm so grateful you share your talent and experience with so many thousands of people.
Hi Ingrid! Thank you for your kind words.😊 It warms my heart and I'm so glad you're getting value from my videos. I just learned the online shop where I bought all of that glass from went out of business.🙈 GAH! So I just did a quick search on Amazon and found sheets of glass tile just like what I showed in the video (3/4" and 1"). Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Speedmom! I think this video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CX4eenum6VY.html) will help you with the microbeads grout including where to find them (they're listed in the description below the video). Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!💫
Hi there! You can pull off what you need and leave the rest on the mesh until you need more. I store mine on the mesh. Keep creating and I’m glad you’re here!🔥
I'm just starting out, and I ordered some free tile samples and 1 dollar samples from tilebar they are so thick. Any tips on cutting ceramic tile that is meant for flooring?
I know your question is from 8mos ago, but I'm wondering the same. I think whole flooring tile (ceramic/porcelain) would best be cut by a wet saw. But I'm not sure (?)
Hi Debbie! Yes, I keystone my tesserae when tiling curves....whether that's circles or waves. In other words, anything that's not a straight line. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hello, I just came into possession of some glass tiles (they look exactly like your blue ones on the mesh backing). These tiles were chipped out from the wall of a bank that is being remodeled. They are pretty old as the bank was originally built somewhere in the 1960s. I plan to use them to make jewelry among other things but I would like to restore their shine. I have never worked with glass. Can you tell me what I can use to polish the tiles?
Hi Hairouna Gems! Ohhhhh wow, lucky you! Vintage tile is so fun.😍 As far as polishing them, I would clean them off with a damp rag. If they don't get 'clean', then it sounds like they're a matte finish, and not a shiny finish. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
@@JulieWeilbacher Thank you for responding. I have already washed them to remove the grout, thinset etc. I think they were originally shine but 60 years of sun, rain and janitorial services (they were on the outside wall of the bank) probably killed their lustre. I was wondering if I should try like a vehicle polish compound or a polish for metals or something to try to bring it back....sigh
Do you have a list somewhere of places to buy tiles on line? I know of Amazon, but it seems to always give the same stuff. Perhaps I do not know how to expand my searches ? Thank you.
Hi Neusa! I did a video on some of my *favorite places* to get mosaic materials. You can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u4UEVrlJxCA.html. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
