To be honest there is only one valid reason to stop riding motorcycles - when the ride stops giving you joy. Its true that accidents happen and are generally worse than in car, but with that logic people shouldn't walk on the street, ride on train or do DIY projects... If you enjoy the ride, then ride. Friends, family might not understand, but if it makes you happy they should be ok with it and accept it.

Hi Bugzy, I got my first road bike at 16(50cc), at 17 I bought a 125cc Honda, 5 weeks later I was knocked off breaking both wrists and a collar bone, it put me off for about a year so eventually got back on, 31 years of accident free riding I was hit in the same spot snapping my femur, shattered my pelvis, broke 2 bones in my hand, 1 rib and shoulder, femur wouldn't reunite until 4th attempt so 4 years of hell, I couldn't wait to get back on, this happened in 2015 and I'm still going 🤣 ( with a slightly shorter leg🤣). Merry Christmas to you and Justin and the dogs and I hope 2024 brings us both dry roads and sunshine 👍👍👍

I'm 58 and I ride. I'm not afraid of dying I'm afraid of not living. Don't get me wrong, I am afraid of crashing and the pain, but I think it's a healthy fear that keeps me better focused when riding, keeps me from drinking and riding, keeps me from excessive speed. The fear is part of the riding therapy, because I focus more I shut out the world more and keep my mind on the ride. I don't forget to enjoy the ride, the wind and the views. 2 wheel truth is the best. MM

Good job my lady. Love that bike, classic Yamaha, XS650. Id love to hear the backstory on it how you got it into such nice shape. I had its older cousin an 1981 XS750 special (first year shaft drive !) Great to see ladies on bikes. Ill sub & watch for that detail & other stuff from you. Im currently rocking a 2008 Suzuki V-Strom DL650 in East Texas. Merry Christmas 🎄 wherever you are + looks beautiful. David

@@BugzyMoto Watching your video the Yammy XS650 reminded me of the Triumph Bonneville 650 - wouldn't you say it's a "tribute bike" in that sense to the Triumph ? Minus all the lovable glitches British bikes feature of course lol.

I completely get the nerves when it comes to riding. for me i find the best way around that is to treat your bike like a human being. Talk to it, discuss what you want to do, listen to it, then eventually you'll get to the point where you know exactly what it likes and dislikes. Take lots of time just doing slow stuff, practice emergency stops and try being 'defensive' so even if something happens in front of you, you expect it and can manage without panicing. Also, Sorry for a monologue, that logic of coming to terms with death makes complete sense to me. I lost my partner last year, a week after my 30th in one of the most horrifying ways (not bike related). That's what drove me to do my full licence because I had spent a number of years being afraid of what is, eventually, something we all deal with one way or another. It may be wishful thinking, but i'd love to ride halfway around the world and do a fundraiser. I always used to joke about it that now it sounds kind of sensible lol. thanks for the honest vid :) have a happy christmas and new year.

David, wow. Thank you for sharing part of your story here. I'm so sorry to hear of the great loss you've experienced, sending you so much love. Riding halfway around the world to raise funds sounds amazing and please let me know when you do that! Hope your Christmas was full of love and I wish you peace in 2024. Please stick around, I'd love to hear more from you. 🤍 Also- love what you said about treating my bike like a living thing, I'm going to think like that more now.

Honestly I hope more women never get over their fear of riding their motorcycles for two reasons one altruistic and one selfish.. First of all it actually is a relatively dangerous activity on an objective level And once upon a time I got incredibly lucky by having a landlady who was afraid of her motorcycle; so she sold her mint Nighthawk 700s for $400. I subsequently lived on that bike for the next 10yrs. My God what a great true blue bulletproof old girl she was.
