HOW I PACK TO GO ABROAD for 5 WEEKS in EUROPE: PACK WITH ME! + summer travel essentials 

Tips which people might find helpful: Make a list of what you need to pack before you begin, then check off as you pack each item into the suitcase Instead of packing items by outfit instead pack by piece type since each item can usually go with more than one outfit (e.g. 1 shorts can work with several tops and vice versa) Packing cubes are a godsend for transit and organisation since things move while travelling + you can pull out only what you need and don't need to shuffle through a bunch of things on top to get to the bottom of the suitcase You can weigh your suitcase laying down on the scale without holding it (some scales may require a person to stand for the electrical body fat check to run but not for weight) Pack some empty plastic bags for dirty laundry to keep this separate from your clean clothes as you travel Pack shoes in individual bags so the soles don't touch your clean items Bring enough socks and underwear to get 50% through the trip without having to do laundry. You can always rewear shorts, pants, shirts etc. in a pinch but you don't want to rewear unwashed undergarments

I just did 5 weeks in Europe too and on return had to make some notes for myself about what was actually useful. For me it was so hot that I didn't want to wear shorts and t-shirts at all and gravitated towards dresses which were airer. I also brought 3 pairs of pajamas and that was enough in rotation since they're super lightweight and you can wash them in the sink, hang them to dry on the hotel hangers and overnight they'll be dry with the circulation of air in the hotel room. I wish I'd brought more sunscreen from home instead of having to buy another bottle overseas, and I wish I'd brought my nail clippers from home instead of just a nail file. I brought enough underwear to last for 50% of the trip and did laundry in the room whenever we were staying multiple nights somewhere. I'd recommend bringing antiseptic cream for blisters as I brought bandaids but nothing to steralise the area (although hotel reception desks have full first aid kits to give to you if you require). I'd recommend bringing a power board to charge multiple items at once from one outlet as a lot of hotels lack convenient outlets

There are washing machines in Europe lol

Make sure you check the voltage in the hair dryer. If it says on 100 and not 100-240V even with an attachment it will overload the power and your dryer will burnout .

If you get on the scale, and then zero it out while your on it, when you get back on with the suitcase, the only weight that shows is the suitcase. No math needed!

Taking multiple colours of the same item isn't a great idea. Save the space. Pare down more.

Don't keep your passport in a backpack!
