Can you work overtime once you get your PGWP? or work only 40 hours? Also, how do you sublet and make sure that person pays rent? do you sign some kinda contract with them?

Hello. Yes you can! Subleasing can be risky, because it is your name on the lease and not the other person. So if they don’t pay, you might have to be the one to pay for the rent out of pocket because it is your name on the lease.

It’s depends to be honest. I can’t say a particular amount $$ But in addition to your 20 hours per week, you can also find cash jobs to do here and there!!

After your diploma studies, did you go to university? What chance does a diploma holder have against a university degree holder in Canada in getting good jobs? Thanks

Hello Deborah! Yes, I’m more than happy to answer your questions. 1. I don’t recall how much was required in my bank account. My dad did provide his bank statement(s). 2. It was when I got here (after 2nd year) that I was able to ask to split my tuition while also studying (I don’t think it’s something that they can do for you before) Advice: make sure you have at least one year tuition ready 3. After my diploma, I started working. After 4 years working, I finally got my PR (thank God, Alhamdullilahi) and then I decided to go back to University to get my full degree. 4. I would say that it depends on the program. For example, there are good college programs like business analysis, social service work, paralegal, nursing. And the same goes for university programs too. But then there are also programs in college and university that might not have high demand for jobs. I hope this helps!

Hi 👋🏾 From my experience, financial aid can help with spreading out your tuition fees and giving you a deadline, they can’t pay for your tuition. So for example if your tuition is $20,000 per year and the deadline for all student is Jan 24th. You can ask them to spread it out for you, so you can pay $5000 one month, another $5000 in February, another $5000 in March, and then another $5000 in April. They usually don’t let it get to exam period, so you might have to request another extension. On the other hand, you can apply for international student bursary. The application requires your academic grades and personal statement. I believe I got $500-$1000 from that. It’s little money but it’s helpful.

getting accepted to college/ university is very easy if you have the grades. for international students, the biggest worry is can you pay?! if finances are not an issue... sis just apply to whatever program you meet the requirements.

Ewenniwe Henry-Eze , I’ve lived in Canada for almost 10 years. Yes, I have an accent because Yoruba is my first language. There should be no criticism because of how I talk. If I was living in Nigeria and I’ve never travelled abroad, then you can say I’m forming or have “fonne”. This is to say that if you don’t like how I talk then you don’t have to watch my video. I don’t know what you mean by “normal Nigerian”. But if a Nigerian comes to a western country and they associate themselves with westerners, then they begin to speak in a western way. If a Nigerian has never stepped foot in a western country but they are talking like one, then you can consider that “forming” I’ve lived in Canada for a number of years. So it’s safe to say that I have an “accent”. With that said, if you don’t like the way I speak, you don’t have to watch my videos.
