How I Paint Necromunda Kill Team 40k Sector Mechanicus Terrain Fast (Drybrush, no wash method)

Today I walk you through how I paint my Grim Dark terrain. This technique is applied to many terrain pieces in our battle reports. It is quick, easy and effective. It uses a dry brush technique and mainly serves as a base for you to build on. I didn't come up with this technique but did want to share because I do get a lot of questions about it. Just keep in mind that I'm not an expert.

Dude this is great ! I've been painting for years (rogue trader era and still no expert by any means..) I've been having problems nailing the look of necromunda terrain in an "easy to do way." Can't wait to try this out .. Thanks again for the awesome content.

Painted mine up exact same way. Time consuming but cheap and very effective especially with no washing and looks great when it's all done.

Thank you for this video. Your terrain and models are always well done and a major factor in why I subscribed and watch. It is somewhat disappointing when watching a video of a certain gang and that gang is represented by other figures outside the line....and even worse, not painted. Like you, I enjoy the aesthetics and visuals of the game and playing with unpainted minis is so UN-immersive. Thanks again for this tutorial, I actually learned something!! One question though, what is the price range of the 3D printer you used, If I may ask? I think the internet says around $1k for a hobby capable printer but this is one area I am really interested in as terrain is out of control (price).

Thanks! I use an Ender 3 V2. Less than $250 or around $200 on sale. Definitely does enough for what I need!

In theory it should. Just keep in mind that MDF really soaks up the paint. I would probably put a layer of PVA on it first.

I don't make a lot of terrain myself. I have purchased MDF walls for Zone Mortalis from the art of war stations and recently assembled it, and made some paint tests. There are not ideal, little tricky to work with, much work must be put to this set, but are undoubtedly affordable, and adequate for this game mode.

Yeah so I checked with the file owner and apparently Bethesda Games made a claim to it. Something about it being related to Fall Out. The owner is trying to have that reversed.

Love the video! I just recently picked it up after wanting to play since the early 90's, Necromunda has always caught my eye! When Dark Uprising came out,. I got it. My question is this: I am having trouble getting inspiration for my own ideas' and what I actually want on the table. Anyways, great video, and TY for your time. Some LED's would look great on your board too.

I like this, its accessible. When I look at guys like rapid tabletop and people like that its just way too much... the GW terrain itself would cost thousands of NZ dollars, and most people just cant get anywhere near it. It looks great but just out of reach for most people. This however is what most hobby people want... cheaper, accessible, easy... but still looks pretty good

Thanks and welcome. I base coated with a red/white (pink) mixture and then went over with yellow and gave it a wash to dirty it up. I think Squidmar Miniatures and Goobertown Hobbies have good tutorials on painting yellow. I followed a similar method. The pink undercoat really gives you a nice yellow color after a few coats.
