Main reason I clicked was your Tau scheme. The rainbow is very eye-catching. Second reason was a vtuber doing miniatures/warhammer. A rare combination of two past-times of mine.

lol, I highly advise using Gel Super glue for resin. Works amaaaaaaazingly. Made putting together resin models so much easier. Still gotta hold it together for awhile and let it sit for a lil bit.

Such great advice! I noticed I paint for much longer and really enjoy myself when I paint with others, either friends or streaming. Plus your tau are fabulous, I love the colors! Congrats on completing your challenge!

If anyone reading the comments is curious about using an airbrush but doesn't want to invest a lot of money into one (or doesn't want a huge noisy air pump), you can buy portable airbrushes for cake decorating, they work exactly the same as an airbrush but has a small airpump attached to the airbrush itself, its a good way to dip your toe into airbrushing without spending too much

Yeah I just finished painting up the last of my thousand point grey Knight army it was like a 3-month process but that is because I had to wait to get certain miniatures but I'm pretty sure I probably could have gotten my army done in about a week if I had all the pieces because I didn't do all the fancy shading that some people do Because my painting process went this gloss black prime two or three coats of silver depending on the miniature to get a nice polished aluminum two coats of a diy gel pen ink black wash hit certain areas White and then hit some of those white spots either orange or blue and for any fabric reds or blue for the librarian and purple for my purifier justicar and the bases are done black and covered in a neon green scribbles and blood splatter to look like necron energy fluid and then a semi-gloss clear coat rhino and dreadnought are painted in the same scheme also weapons have some gold on them and the blades are done in a red wash instead of the normal blue for Nemesis Force weapons and I thought because the base model that faction slays demons specifically so I thought their weapons should be stained with the blood of demons Even though my army is actually a Homebrew 11th legion known as the war foxes before the heresy they went into the warp to travel to a homeworld and in real time for some reason took them just about 11,000 years whereas in the warp it took them just a few months so they didn't know about anything until after they came out since they went into the warp for the travel and they only found out about what was going on because they ran into the dark Angels and the lion with his redeemed fallen and he caught them up with what he knew, and for some reason the mindwipe about the two lost primarchs disappeared about the 11th at the sight of her face and he remembered that she disappeared Sidenote we know that Primark of the space wolves is said to have killed one of the two lost and the other something happened to them but we don't know there is the possibility that they fell to chaos or something along those lines and my idea is they just disappeared and the emperor decided that they were lost and wiped the minds of the rest of his sons and added what was left of her legion to the imperial fists and because of the line that dorne says about sigismund saying he is no son of his it's because he was secretly a member of the war foxes and that's why the black Templars are the way they are

I think while the "I painted my army in a day, week, 24 hrs etc" videos are cool, they seem wholly out of touch from the average non-youtuber casual painter. This video is realistic: 40k in 40 days. Within those 40 days life has space to happen to you. Very nice video Neko. subbed

The sad thing is I could 100% my armies but I don’t have the money right now for primer or basing stuff :,)

Siperglue can stick plastic to resin, but the more you put in the longer it takes to cure. Also, if you don't put in enough, the grip won't keep the parts together... superglue is notoriously capricious. To stick such large and heavy parts I suggest 2 parts epoxy adhesivs, like the ones you can find in hardware stores in syringe like packagings.

I swore I'd never get back into 40k, but damn those models look so good. I'll probably use these techniques to do my battletech models tho

I think the T'au Pathfinders are some of the coolest designs in 40K but as a novice hobbyist they are quite painful to assembe and paint details on because they are Sm0LL bois :c

I was painting Guard fairly quickly at the start of the year, but I mad a mistake. You see, I decided I would convert every single miniature, and use different colour schemes and patterns depending on what the unit was. So I stuffed them in a box.

Not sure if you already did this or not. But resin prints need to have a warm soapy bath for about 20 minutes to get rid of all the oil on them so glue will actually set properly.

you dont know how much i appreciate you showing the entire process without any cuts. helps shape a perspective on how much effort it really is to do these things instead of "i basecoated my army" in 5 sec which is arguably the most time consuming part depending on how many different surfaces your army has.

It was a ton of fun participating in this challenge, my fav part was probably the challenge chat with people posting that they got a unit done and people would celebrate, it was an awesome vibe. What was cool too was if people were struggling on certain aspects people offered their help and tried to motivate them. Definitely looking forward to the next competition!

I hate varnish, so I can't use oil washes or panel liners lol.

With 3d printing give scoring a try and a lot of prints are too smooth and can have a hard time gripping different parts
