Hey Texas Garden Guy, I'm also a DIY gardener who is growing a plumeria ('Teresa Wilder' cultivar) I just got in the mail that is already ROOTED. I know I paid more, but at least I'm past the most critical phase where they're prone to the dreaded root rot. It was planted last week here in Lake Charles, LA where we share a similar climate. It already has some small leaves it's put out I assume since coming out of winter hibernation. It's in a appropriately sized terra cotta pot and into some Ferti.lome desert/succulent potting mix with a little added perlite for extra drainage and aeration. Looks like we're off to the races, as the branches have already sprouted some new leaves! I can't wait for the flowers, possibly later in the summer. 🌱🪴
Sounds like you’re right on schedule. Cutting usually don’t flower until the 2nd or even 3rd year, but they sure will leaf out and put on size in those first two vegetative years. Don’t be shocked if you don’t get blooms this season.
Great video, I have not had luck growing Plumerias from stem cuttings, they keep rotting. I just received 2 fresh cuttings and I am going to follow your instructions. I am confused about watering. How should I water the cutting the first time and how often and how much should I water after the first watering? Your comments are appreciated. Thank you
No roots calloused over just put into soil. How much sunlight? I had mine in direct sunlight and was told I was going to kill all 22 of my cuttings. I was told to give them as much daylight as possible from rooting to growth and my friend is telling me the opposite.
