Eelke is such an inspiration. One year ago he talked about how he made The Calling at Keymusic in Rotterdam, learned so much about Kontakt and Effects that day! 👌
I really like how unique and inspiring artist Eelke Kleijn is... I Love his music. He seems to be a very nice and humble person as well. Many thanks for this vid!
This is a great showcase! 😀 Thank you Eelke and DJTT 👌 I happen to have a DJS-1000 sampler on pre-order and am anxiously waiting for them to be available to ship early 2023 🙂👍
This is dope!! When I got my DJS-1000 my first inclination was to buy a second one to mix like a DJ set with deconstructed tracks. I love how you incorporated hardware and software into this setup. Super cool!!
Awesome video. I really like this setup that still keeps the focus on DJ style first with live elements meaning you can adjust to the crowd and vibe that is going on.
I've been watching this series on and off for a couple of years now, and I just realised that you haven't done a "How I Play" with Madeon yet. I really hope that it'll be done soon.
so u just solved a midi mapping prob ... yes i admit iam a downy...and had to custom map the 1000's to add more stuff lol i ran a setup...for a live setup....full duplex with this config ... but with the model one. meaty azz f%$k ive managed 6x midi external synths... with bugger all all laytancey ! like a boss now.
ok so reaching out to the OG's here so about 20 years ago i went to a Caffeine party/ rave ..... caffeine over America or something ..... So there was a grp there 3 guys a drummer / guitar / precision / elecro gear there name was (CERIS) or (Cerius ) (Cirus) maybe .Older men one kinda looked like zz top ... saw them come on stage was pissed cause i thought they were going to ruin my party favors which had just kicked in and i have never been so wrong they blew the fucking doors of that venue ... i have been a dj since then i have never heard or seen them on a line up never was able to find any ep 's /cd's nothing and there is no way they just disappeared i have never seen anything like that since it was so crazy so if anyone here know what there correct name or anything would really appreciate it ... thx
enjoyed it very much. Really nice format, thank you! Great artist, great setup and awesome music. But the video quality is a bit .. errrm .. not so good.
I'm still learning a lot about setups and usage - what's the benefit of the two DJS 1000 over something like a pair of MPC or Maschine, based on the primary usage being sequences and samples? Is it mainly to stay in the Pioneer ecosystem and comfort/familiarity?
Seems like you would need many scenes if a track had lots of changes/variety. Like an 8 bar buildup into a 16 bar drop then into another 16 bars with differing variation. Wouldn’t you constantly be changing scenes?
@@eigojiyouzu Yes... He goes around with a heavy piece of equipment worth may be 1.500 € when he could do the same and do the same music with a much lighter , 75 € midi keyboard... But it looks nice..All this buttons there and controls look nice and if from time to time you touch them you give the impresison you are doing a live set.... that might be the reason. Looks are important, he states that at the beginning.
Amatteus for sure, he could. Though I too would prefer to play with a piece of equipment that will be more dependable and durable . At least thats how I’d look at it. Cheers
Matthew Howard yeah, on a detailed view I noticed he has 64 steps samples from Ableton. Don’t know the reason why to use those Pioneers for such task...
@@alexmint4998 another advantage of having this setup is that the laptop can crash mid set and the Pioneers won't be effected, so it's more reliable in that sense. only thing that would happen is the soft synths stop working and he can presumably then use the other version of the live tracks that have the synths included afterwards.
Hey I thought I would jump in. It's a combination of loops and stems. You're slightly limited with the Pioneers because you can't do full 7 minute stems. But I work around that by using single hits and 4, 8, 16 or 32 bar loops. If you think well about how you are going to map out the track towards the 16 tracks available before hand, you can pretty much do any track live on the DJS. My main reason for going with this setup is flexibility and reliability. I can improvise in my track selection and play into a crowd. My laptop could also crash mid set and nobody would notice. The beats and structure will still be there.
@@eelkekleijn Yep, reliability comes first. I was using Electron Machinedrum SPS-1 as keystone and ableton 7 as a sampler in my live PA minimal techno experiments (that was the year of 2008). Also remember DAW and laptop crashes in hot clubs... But I had a drum machine with master effects, yay!
I see allot of people endlessly tweeking controllers and you never hear anything change im begining to think they are just playing tracks and act like there doing something
Depends. If your doing a live set where you are essentially just triggering parts and playing with the mix, then yeah your going to have a lot of time on your hands where there isn’t anything for you to do. Some performers find this down time awkward and clearly just faff around, others just roll with it and it doesn’t bother them. Someone like Kleijn clearly likes to be more involved, thus actually playing parts. Imagine being a DJ where you sometimes have minutes of time waiting to mix songs, just standing there haha
