I had a thought about the drone and drone battery foam inserts. He will most likely replace the drone with a newer, possibly smaller drone much sooner than replacing the foam insert. You may want to take that into consideration.

We're so happy to be part of this build and get you running with the LITHIUM BLUE battery. The cold weather charging is a challenge with any battery and with Lithium, the temps are a little higher than with lead-acid. The "blanket" you wrapped around the battery is an excellent solution and there are also heating mats that can go under the battery to accomplish the same thing. Can't wait to see all the other adventures you go on and how the battery helps you do your job. Looking forward to maybe even getting out on a trip with you too.

THIS is the stuff I really like watching......you explaining the build for your Jeep....I've been looking into Solar/Battery options and doing my own build....My 30amp Victron DC-DC charger has been such a lifesaver for boondocking....I have everything wired with anderson plugs for quick connect I also an using a teardrop style camper, not a rooftop tent, so a little different setup needs

I'd add some Milwaukee gear to that cupboard so you have some tools if you need to make a bush fix. An M18/M12 combo charger, a couple M18 and M12 batteries and whatever tools you want to carry. Even a sawzall would be handy as hell for cutting up smaller firewood.

I was actually worried about cold temp charging and saw that battle born batteries have a self heated battery pack unit. Might be a good solution that comes from the factory all ready to go.

Cool and expensive setup you have there. My set up that I run is less expensive. I run a 3000 watt triplite inverter, 2 lithium batteries in parallel, hooked up to my alternator ( battery of my vehicle). Tripp lite monitors the input power and output. Shuts all down if it drops below 28 percent on the input. This gives me 20 amps of 120 volts and at 40 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and time of 8 hours while using 10 amps. And my back up is a solar panel, and a 1000 watt Honda generator. And when at home, I have 8 amps of power to maintain thru a battery tender. I have marine grade disconnect switches which allow me to charge batteries individually. I guess my way is the poor mans way. You have a nice setup and good friends to help.

How do these new fancy wiz bang batteries hold up to extreme temperatures?
@DiscoverBattery
@DiscoverBattery 2 года назад
As Shaun mentioned in the video, cold temperatures are a challenge for Lithium batteries and they need to be heated with a heating mat of some kind. The best place to source these are often RV dealerships who deal with these things all the time. Extreme heat can also be a challenge, so best to keep the battery in a well-ventilated area and out of direct sunlight. Extreme temperatures are a problem for any battery, with our lithium batteries the recommended temperature range for normal operation is as follows. Charge Temp: min 0 C (32 F) | max 55 C (131 F) Discharge Temp: -20 C (-4 F) | max 60 C (140 F) Storage Temp: -10 C (14 F) | max 30 C (86 F)

I guess this is the difference between living in BC vs the American Southwest. I'm looking at your installation wondering how you'd manage excessive heat buildup (which can kill batteries and doesn't help non-industrial rated electronics) and you are worried about keeping it warm.

Get a Honda generator, or even a Generac.... inexpensive and it will solve all your power needs!
@TheStoryTillNow
@TheStoryTillNow 2 года назад
Running a generator all night isn't a viable solution. They are also heavy to carry and require fuel. This is light, regenerates power, and does everything I could need.

Looks cool but you ever think the average person gets pretty sick of RU-vidrs flossing about all the new stuff they get to install for free? It's cool to see the adventure and discovery side of it but there is always the invevitable "look what I am installing....FOR FREE!!" I think especially because the average person finds it hard enough just to afford gas now let alone go out and outfit their rig with more toys. Just food for thought.
@TheStoryTillNow
@TheStoryTillNow 2 года назад
This is an expensive hobby. It is what it is. If you can afford a $70k truck you can afford this system, right? I also do a lot of work for these "free" things I'm installing. There are less expensive options for a power management system if this is unaffordable for you. I'm simply sharing my experience and what I'm doing with my own truck.
