Dear Rob! That MIDI drums don't fit your ukulele at all. It would be great If you used some more appropriate percussion like kajon, bongos and so on in your future videos. Even if you will have to simplify drum parts for that, it still gonna sound much better.
Thanks for this Rob! I am disabled and I can't handle a guitar comfortably so I thought ukulele may be my way into playing but they just sound so high. This is really helpful because you're the only one really doing this so there's like no information out there!
Look at his ukulele metal vids. In his cover of "Payback" by Slayer, Sarah wants to kill that chick in the window because she ate all of the cupcakes. And she did.
Hey Rob! If you usually omit the high G string, why don't you just use a low G string in its place? That's how I tune all of my instruments, and it extends the range in a way that's usually really helpful!
Ok, real question here: Rob, did you ever thought about using a Digitech Whammy for playing, I mean, it seems to be useful and I think it would be very interesting to hear some tracks on uke, u-bass and I didn't know, maybe even banjo with tone changing in the middle of the song - I doubt, that there could be anyone, who can do this kind of stuff better than you... Cheers Master Scallon!
I *really like* the Kala U-Bass. A friend brought one over a long while back and I instantly fell in love with it. Still haven't bought one of my own but it's on my musical wishlist for sure. Yes this video is very rant-y but it's still cool to hear your opinions and how you do things. I like opinions on technical stuff; I'm a geek like that. *Loved the Cannibal Corpse video!!*
standard baritone ukulele tuning is D G B E tuned exactly like a guitar. why only use the bottom 3 strings. you should use all 4. Ubase tuning is E A D G. the same tuning and octave and frequencies as regular bass. with a sound somewhat between a upright bass and an acoustic bass.
So I watch this video, then I look down at the comments section, where people are talking about a chick in the window. and I'll be fucked, there's a chick in the window.. Thanks a lot, comments section. Now I'm stuck being aware that spooky stuff happens even if I'm not looking at it.
Damn this video was making me rethink my opinion on ghosts for a second until I clearly saw the Sarah overlay. Lol. Okay I can continue not believing in ghosts. Lol. =)
6:30 LOOOOOOL WTF dude you have a sick mind... ROFL I felt just like one of those people, because I'm supposed to be working but am actually stalling and watching your video.
Rob, a quick question here... I'm Venezuelan, and in Latin America there is an instrument called "cuatro" (both in english and spanish) that looks exactly like the "ukulele" you said you record with... I tried searchig the internet for a proper difference between the two, but couldn't find any because there are too many different "ukuleles" and "cuatros". So my question... are you 100% positive you are holding an ukulele and not a cuatro? Or are you holding an instrument that could in fact be considered a bit of each? Or both of them in different variations of it?
I have a soprano size with black nylon and an Aquila RED Low G that stays in tuned EADG or DADG and an 8 string tenor that often gets full distortion connected with my UBass through octave pedals.
I was thinking "you know, what this video needs now is stock footage, tape hiss, and some oddball reverb." And then you delivered. As if the ghosts in the window weren't enough. Epic. LOL
Hello Rob :D I want to start playing the ukulele, but i don't know which size i should take - soprano, concert or tenor? I hope that you can help me with that decision. Kind regards ;)
How do you play the solos in the same octave if the high string on your ukalayle is an octave higher? You tune the same as guitar.. I thought ukalayle was totally different. Never mind if the ukalayle allows you to tune to guitar why not.. Like D chord basic on ukalayle is totally different
Holy fuck Rob I'm scared shitless. The echo sounds like that moment luke was walking around the carbonite facility on Bespin and then all of a sudden Vader comes out of nowhere and starts swinging like a savage
so how do you tune it? i didn't get this. cause you said "like the lower strings of guitar" so you mean (G) E A D...or do you change the C into a B so you have(G) B E A ? ;)
Noticed the girl in the window right away, and had no idea wtf was actually happening; then I remembered the quip about recording late, and how it was spooky...
How do you tune a ukulele so that its like the lowest string of a guitar? My understanding is that uke is GCEA and to tune it to GEAD you'd have to tighten the three bottom strings a lot? I've been wanting (try) to play some stuff like Rob.
Hi Rob, enjoy your videos. Just wanted to say that if you do use stock photos in your videos like here around 6:33 mark, please consider purchasing the photo. Most stock sites offer very good prices and there are free stock sites as well (although the image quality in those sites isn't always great).
Its 5:27am and dark af in my room and I was slowly falling asleep when the part around 3:02 scared me so badly I think it cleansed several of my sins DX I thought I was having a nightmare...
Where did you get that creepy wind-noise track you looped over this? it sounds like a higher quality version of the wind noises from the ghost house in Mario64
