Loved this! I know it's from 5 yrs ago but you answered the questions I had about guppy breeding strains etc. I'm most interested in breeding fancy guppies... among other things 😉 I'm inhaling all the info I can on small, like 2-tank breeding operations with guppies and basically whatever will go with guppies. Including plants. I'm lining things up slowly. Very slowly. I'm trying to be patient and not spend much money because my husband is already not thrilled with having TWO tanks 😅😅😅🤷♀️😊 so I'm gonna make the most of it. I'm running 2 Aquarium co-op filters in a 50-gallon with a bunch of cories and guppies and a pleco, a bunch of annubias, buce, swords, crypts, java windelov, java moss, jungle val... all slowly growing in, as well as a synodontis that will be moving soon lol. Love it, but it's eating my fry 😋 My other is a 29g planted with hairgrass, water sprite (?), java moss, and windelov and a nice cave. I have wood and rock and sand in both tanks. I can't decide what I want to do in the 29g. I can't decide if I'm going to move the guppies to the 29g. Lmao 😅 Forgive me. I digress. 😅 Carry on! While I go inhale more content!!!
Lol. How did you convince your hubs of a second tank? I had to argue long and hard why I needed a 10 gallon just for quarantine and I think he'd kill me if I just kept it set up on the breakfast bar. Lol. I've been trying to convince him to let me get fish for years and he finally caved. Lol.
Love these videos. Want me and my 8 year old to start keeping Guppies. Slow setup but I want him to understand each step in the process of it all instead of just slapping it all together quickly. Thanks for all these great videos to learn from.
To be fair, most of my culls live out their lives with the turtles. I keep the turtles well fed enough that they are too lazy to hunt really. At least the mini musks. The larger turtles for sure will eat stuff.
😄 The Cory Fishroom and Hobbyists style videos are back!!!! Absolutely. .... These kind of videos you do I could watch for hours👍👍👍 ...hopefully you got the Guppy Cull to the turtles. 👍 Love how you are showing people culling...its the most important thing about breeding.
Like ShortNAnxious said, I don't typically kill my guppies, I remove them from the group and keep them with say turtles, or even just another aquarium depending on what was wrong with them.
Loving these videos a lot Cory! I "accidentally" breed goldfish as a kid and nothing much happened with it. It's cool to see the work you are supposed to put into it when you are trying to do something. I think it'll be helpful when I play with Angels this year.
Year of the livebeaers! Thanks for sharing your cull process. I'm hoping to try guppies this spring outside as a side project to learn more about genetics. How often would you cull?
Hi from Auatralia Cory, I just love the way you get to the point, hate listening to people that just woft on.. Thank you for all you do, you are such a hard worker, Regards Annemieke
love these videos, all have been very helpful with what direction i should go with my tank. I will be stopping by your store on saturday and im excited to see it in person!!
Great video Cory. I really am enjoying your guppy videos. I've kept many different fish in the past but I've just recently gotten into guppies because they are really fun to watch and breed. My main focus is on the albino koi guppy strain and I'm trying to fill my approximately 140gallon tank with them. Started of with 5 females and 5 males. It'll take some time to fill the tank up but I just got a female that gave birth to 20 fry so I'm looking forward to it. Keep up the great work!
Congrats on winning those Koi's Cory! Hope to see more of them in upcoming videos. Maybe one day I'll send you videos of my tanks so that you and your viewers can check them out :)
Love Guppies but until I cleaned my small power head (going to get bubble sponges next week), I never realised how playful Minnos are. Lovely little fish, swimming against the tide and driving into the bubbles it makes.
I really enjoyed this video, the whole process of selecting the fish, finding the traits you want to breed, to get the strain you want is very informative and fascinating. Would really enjoy more videos like this
This is an awesome video showing how you separate guppies. Now I have a better view as to how I'm going to choose guppies to breed. Thanks for the video cory!
What did I like about this episode? I liked everything, I like the dwarf cichlids (at least I think that's what they are). Also congrats on the baby plecos!
I'm so glad this video popped up. New to fish keeping. My guppies I bought were pregnant and now I have babies but I can't wait to breed some on purpose lol.
I didn't see this coming, but this year for the first time in 45 years I have Guppies! I didn't see the excitement and attachment I feel coming from them. I just got extra fancy Guppies, whatever that means and because I could I went with these gorgeous yellow fish. They are happy go lucky Guppies, like my dog who I call the High Speed Optomist. Jazz loves to come check them out, so do I LOL. All of this stuff that is trying to kill me, is getting put in the back seat and for the first time in two years, I feel optimistic.
Enjoyed your video and how you share your love and knowelege of fish. I am just beginning my journey with my fancy guppies. Love them. I agree spend some time with your fish. Just noticed we have some babies. Yipee!
I really like these fishroom videos. Lately I don't have so much time to watch your live stream videos (I can't watch them live - I'm from Europe) so I preffer shorter, more 'action' videos :) Have a nice day.
Hey Aquarium Co-op, just an idea as I have not yet had too much experience with it, try getting split peas and grinding them into a powder? It's good for helping relieve fish of some swimbladder issues, as well as bloat and constipation in fish.
Hi Cory thx for all the knowledge you share im trying to get fishbreading up and running in South Africa you helping me a lot its Louis Van Wyk Louis Aquatics your local fish beeder sorry im a bit bad at English trying to step up a knodge im in wheelchair got muscular distrophy trying to make some exstra money enjoy the hobby got some tiger barbs to spawn and platys and swords and fancy guppys corry doras etc !
Got a female with mostly black tail with a faint gold snakeskin in the middle and 2 males with black borders on the tails with a mix of yellow orange and blue in the middle and body hoping te fry comes out nicely
And a hundred odd in a barrel outside plus some in family's tanks to mix and match colour and bloodlines am aiming for a nice dark body and fins color on a female and try for blue and gold snakeskin on a black background for male
What I do with extra fish is put them in a 55g and just let them breed in abandon and then pull fish I like the pattern of from there and start a new project. It sparks new passion
Great vid, i got a stock tank finally, and im keeping a common snapping turtle in it, and my dad said i need to bury it. He said it will bake in the summer and freeze in the winter. Its not going to free because i have a 550gph filter on it, this is a 110g stock tank
Burying it will help with temperature swings. But you should design an overall plan. So maybe you bury it, maybe you create a glass top for it, to keep it warmer during the winter, but leave that off during the summer. You could also surround it with hay bales etc to keep it warmer.
Your female guppy with the "weak back" may be paralyzed because if you notice when it tries to swim it doesn't move its tail much and it also swims kind of vertical like. But I don't know just a guess haha (:
Love the content of your videos......ONE OF MY FAVS!!!!!!!!!!! You have noooooo idea how much I wish I lived near you and your shop!!!!!! Just for reference...I live in central IL.. In the hobby...my favorite time was when I lived in the South SF Bay area of Cali....THE BEST Aquarium Shops I ever experienced. You're shop is totally...ON PAR!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!! Maybe when I retire.....WASHINGTON!!!!!! LOL!!! As a critic though......wayyyy too much background audio noise!!!!!! I have no idea what the answer is.....Talk to Joey!!!!! He knows!!!!!
Best fish in the hobby! Beautiful and cheap. I can make a living from the sale of guppy’s. If you have a lot of aquariums you can make a lot of money with them.
i really appreciate all the love you got my respect and I feel the same and support for your channel thank you and GOD.BLESS YOU and YOUR channel thumbs-up 👊😀💓
I just started a colony of metallic purple guppies, they were supposed to be pastel but they are really dark. I love their Color I was surprised! I have 4 females and had 3 males but one male had a faded spot in his tail so he was dropped into my community tank instead of breeding
Cory I got a bone to pick with you.... your easy green should come with a warning label.. I got to many plants that I don't know what to do with them... lol... love your easy green....
I think I fairly warn people. I tell people in every video I talk about plants, how plants grow too fast and are a hassle. This is why I don't do big aquascaped tanks because if you do it right, it's always pruning. :P
Did the Ancistrus Claro Pleco babies survive??? I believe Ancistrus claro could be the next big thing in fish keeping. They are slightly smaller than other bristlenose plecos, so casual hobbies with smaller tanks could keep them & less aggressive so you can more than one male in the tank. Bluegrass Aquatics is currently selling tank raised Ancistrus claro for $119. I wish to God I could afford that, but I can't, so I hope the price comes down soon.
I would love to get some liberty mollies. they are like the closest thing to Muppies that you can get that still can breed. though my mountain swordtails probably wouldn't want to share a tank.
What kind of gups were those? Red bronze? Albino full reds? Flamingos? I have female guppies that look like those and they had fry which are about a month old now and the males are just blonde/bronze with red tails as well but not full red...
