I desperately need this, haha. I have no idea what I want my TikTok to be. I'm starting to lean into my sense of humor, which works for me, but I'm a Regency Romance author, and a little afraid that it might be cringey to my readers. I like the idea of aesthetic videos. It might break up the weirdness, lol.

Hi Shelby, you produce great content for sure. So much value for free and you speak from experience and in-depth knowledge. Thank you for that. I've had trouble growing my Tik Tok account but I've been using it pretty sporadically. I wonder if I just need more consistency and a solid way to add new followers and get more likes to my videos. A lot of my videos get no engagement at all even though they seem pretty good to me.

I appreciate that! Thank you. It's hard to say what it could be without seeing your content. Consistency helps without a doubt, but engaging content that speaks to your ideal audience is most effective and that takes experimentation with new styles, lengths of videos, messaging, etc! Keep going and trying new things, asking your audience questions to get engagement, etc. :)

I was wondering how I can connect the TikTok shop to the Amazon/Kindle purchase order. Do you have any suggestions? Do you keep an inventory of your books? Thanks , Franco

Hello! Thank you. You can't connect KDP to TikTok Shop unfortunately. You can set up TikTok Shop if you'd like to order author copies and ship out your own inventory. I personally just sell on Amazon and other retailers, and direct my viewers to go purchase there

Thank you! I do, yes. I think it's great to experiment with 2-3 and see what works best for your audience but then stick to just 1 style (maybe 2). TikTok pages who stay streamlined seem to be more successful!

If your books are not related to what you've talked about on your personal page, yes I would create an author page so you can stay focused and not confuse your current audience

If you sell on Amazon or well known retailer, just say that in the caption or comments in posts about your book. If you only sell on your website it's a bit trickier because you shouldn't put a direct url in a video or caption/comments, so you can connect your Instagram if you have one and encourage people to buy through your profile there, or say something like "Books available at colleenmooney dot com" and see how that goes!

Yes that's correct. Amazon does not have an integration with TikTok Shop.

Hello! It is more challenging. The algorithm really favors one clear audience & topic in your content. I would start with an account for one, whichever genre you'd like to focus on most. On TikTok you'd have most success with scifi/fantasy, poetry or nonfiction depending on the topic 😊

Hi! If you use a print on demand service like Amazon KDP or IngramSpark then you just direct your audience to purchase there and don't have to print or ship anything or worry about demand. If you want to use TikTok Shop then yes you have to carry inventory, but you would just list however many you have so you don't have to worry about demand or selling copies that you don't have.

Hi! You can use any service you want. Amazon KDP, Ingram Spark, etc. Once you hit 1k followers you then can link to your book in your bio like any other social media platform. Or you can use TikTok Shop and sell books directly through TikTok but you must ship the copies yourself.

I know its hard to say from afar but it seems TikTok has flagged my publishing account for whatever reason and is therefor not showing my videos in FYP. So my views are under 10 consistently. Just not possible. So I m actually thinking of starting a new account. I wrote to them but they are not responding. I even deleted two videos that were directly flagged. The thought of starting new came now cause you said that publishing vids straight away is not so good. Thats what i did. What is your opinion?

@@marketingbyshelby Sorry to come to you again - so I followed your advice from yesterday and deleted myy TikTok account as it was flagged. But it seems I cant start a fresh one as any new account is phone nr based and that of course is the same nr as for the deleted account. TikTok recognizes the nr and the only thing I CAN do is reactivated the account I m trying to delete. What do I do? I deleted cookies. Will that do the trick?

@@marketingbyshelby But you haven't used it yet? I'm hesitating because if you have a shop account they penalize you for giving a CTA to your link. Yet, I also have free downloads and programs I want people to get access to.
