This is a great video and I bought mine because of you. I am going on 3 years come Jan 2024. I only paid 50 or so bucks with Amazon gift cards. The money I have saved is just wonderful. The value is off the charts.
I bought Babyliss FX3. I use it to shave my head. It shaves basically like a razor blade - the head is as smooth as a "dolphin". Compared to Andis - FX3 has a more powerful engine and shaves faster. It deals better with thick hair at the back of the head. Babyliss FX2 does not shave as close as FX3. FX3 is better in this respect - I saw a video on RU-vid showing how smooth it is after using FX3. And FX2 left tiny hair ends visible. Braun Series 9 does not shave as close to the skin as all the foil shavers mentioned above. So if someone wants to have a smooth head like a dolphin - I highly recommend Babyliss FX3
@@WhoCares1307 fx2-3 and uv use the same blades and carcas, well at least you can buy fx3 and use in the fx2. last time i buy i nthe store just have replacement for the fx3 and are indencical,
Great video I’m about to buy these today. Been using razors to shave my head for over 20 years now. Your review just changed my whole life!!! Thank you
I just got this shaver, it irritates my head too much. I used feather razor blades before switching. Any tips on how to avoid irritation with this shaver?
That thing is the truth...I got the chrome one and it amazes me everytime I use it. I was previously using my andis t outliners and the occasional razor buy now I use the andis to trim the mustache and beard and I don't ever touch blade. This thing changed my damn life.
I tried a skull shaver but it was awkward at spots and required many passes. Straight razor lol let's just say I learned how painful cuts can be, and disposable razor was alright bit if I didn't get it right within two passes it's game over on irritation no matter the products I used before. I hear foil shaving is good so I got this exact one
I have yet to try a skull shaver and straight razor. I feel I would be in the same position as you with some cuts lol. I’ve been using this foil shaver for quiet a while now and I’m still loving it. I do have to make a couple passes but that’s just my ocd kicking in lol. Thanks for commenting.
@Michael Hand yeah just used a babyliss fx3 for the first time and it was faster closer and less irritating than skull shavers. The skull shaver blades wear quickly and aren't cheap. How often do you swap the blades on a foil shaver?
I use a Defender Razor and love it. 8.99 for 4 and they last me about 2 months. I have learned to stand with my back to the big bathroom mirror and use with my left a smaller mirror so I can see the back of my head. In the month I have done this, no cuts or nicks. When I would blindly run the razor to the back, cut city. I also did not use the Defender at the time.
Hello, Since you have already used this razor and have observations on it, can you tell us how the battery behaves? Now that some time has passed, does the battery drain faster, or does it still last 3 hours like new?
I probably charge it once a month. You can kind of tell when it starts to drain. When it’s fully charged it cuts so much smoother. I have been in the middle of cutting and it has died. I charged it for about 30 minutes and had enough juice to finish cutting.
@@Mphand.416 Thanks for your answer and the wonderful video. New subscriber! An additional question: do you lubricate your shaver with oils that are used for clippers?
Great vid, i envy your beard. I'm gonna buy this shaver in a couple of days, i have a top knot now. I'm not balding, i just don't like having hair. Take care
I always think shaved heads look awesome, and yours is very nice--especially with your great beard. I'm envious! By the way, so many men watch these head shaving videos because we all want to do it! lol
@@Mphand.416 hello michael quick question i use the babyliss fx3 and it is also great for head shaving i shave my head every 2 days most of the time and use the andis cool care plus spray 5 in 1 do you use the spray every time you shave your head? or not always? and do you sometimes rinse the foil and the knife under warm water? I say once a week? greetings stephan ;)
I bought the Babyliss Pro shaver and it shaves very close and gives me a smooth head. I have to shave 2 times a day so I'm not sure how long the Cutter will last before it needs replacement.
@@Mphand.416 Thanks, man. I was able to order the Red Ferrari colored FX3 shaver from EBay; at a really great price! I’m so sick of these cartridge razors and how dull the blades have become, even after only 1 head shave 🪒. I even tried using those Double Edge safety razors and just could not get that darn razor to shave right. No matter how many videos I watched on using a safety razor (and there’s a lot); I decided it wasn’t for me. I don’t have the patience for all that! Give me a 5-10 minute, irritation free shave; sign me up! Thanks, again.
Cheers for the video, couple a questions. I've never had a foil shaver, so as seen on your video it took you about 7-9 minutes to shave, which is good time I guess. Does any cut hear fall on your shoulders, neck etc?
Thanks for commenting and watching the video. I shave every other day so my hair is short enough to where I don’t notice any hair hitting my shoulder. The hair is real fine ashen you shave it collects under the blades. When you take off the cover clean out the blades, the consistency of the hair is more powdery than actual hair clippings. Hope that helps.
@@Mphand.416yeah good to know, I think I'll be switching to fx3 by babyliss for quick no hassle shave with minimum maintenance. Time and quality is what counts.
Hello, Congratulations on the wonderful video. I would like to ask, shaving the head with this shaver, is it as smooth as with a razor and wet shave? Is it perfectly smooth?
I know this is quite an old vid now, but I wanted to ask you, how short must your hair already be before using the foils? I think mines like a 0.5, I dont really want to have to shave with the regular trimmers first and then the foils if I can just go straight into the foils but dont want to ruin the foils either by clogging it up... Thanks.
If my hair gets to the point it needs trimmed, I use a zero guard before using the foil shaver. I typically use the foil shaver every other day so I’m not using trimmers. If I got more than two days, I’ll have to use trimmers first. Hope that helps.
Cheapest and most efficient way to shave it is to buy a leaf, a leaf twig, or a leaf thorn. Buy the razor, then buy double edge safety blades. They are so cheap. Like 100 for a fiver. And the leaf thorn and twig take singles so you just snap them in half. You don't seem to have much hair on top, so it should take you maybe like 3 mins. But it is a skill. But one worth mastering. Stay away from expensive disposables.
It gets really close. I normally went every direction when using a razor so it was super soft and didn’t feel any stubble. I do have some stubble when using the foil shaver but I definitely like it more than a razor. Occasionally I’ll get some irritation here and there but just make sure you use some aftershave and rub it in real good.
@@Mphand.416 Hello, Michael a question for you is the FX2 aggressive on the scalp or on the back of the neck? i shave my head every 2 to 3 days would that be possible with the babyliss fx2 or do you have to shave every day? and how long does the shaving head last, after how many months does it have to be replaced? and which disinfectant spray do you use exactly what is it called ? greetings stephan ;)
Mine gets this was as well. I just go over it multiple times in different directions and get it as smooth as I can. Make sure you’re using a post shave balm to help with irritation. Hope this helps.
@@Mphand.416 Hello, quick question. Have you already tried the new Babayliss FX3 for head shaving? Does the FX3 shave even closer to the scalp than the FX2 or do they both shave equally well? and when should the foil knives be replaced every 6 to 10 months? greetings stephan ;)
Stupid question when your charging this unit when does it look like does the blue light blink fast ?? See I bought one then moved lost my cord bought a after market charger but I wanna make sure it’s charging and not gonna wreck my battery
@@Mphand.416 sweet thanks man my light been blinking really fast for 8 hrs which seems odd to me but hopefully I’m not wrecking my unit lol thanks again
Could you get away with shaving with this every 3 days? I'm used to using clippers but want to get a closer shave, however i'm lazy and would like to do it every 3 days if possible. Just not sure if hair would be too long..
I have gone 3 days before and still was able to use it. Just takes a little bit longer but it will work. It definitely works better the shorter the hair is though.
Thank you for the video. I recently purchased the Shaver (rose gold). How would disinfect the Shaver and what was brand name of balm used? Again, thank you.
I’ve replaced mine 3 times in the 4 years I’ve had my foil shaver. I shave my head from once a day to every 3 days. Maybe don’t shave twice a day and see if that helps.
hey dude! are you still enjoying this thing? im in the market for something as i just finished wet shaving and yeah.... i dont wanna be razer shaving.... Lemme know!
I would say its probably not the same. I use this to trim up my cheeks and neck line as well. Not sure if a face shaver would work just as good as a head shaver. I say give it a try, but make sure you buzz your hair as short as you can before trying.
Yes. It’s easiest to fill a small container and put the blades in the water or disinfectant. Try not to get any water down the post into the body. Just be careful when cleaning it.
@@Mphand.416 Thanks for the reply. I’m getting tired of buying disposable razors and dealing with the cuts and occasional bumps they give me. How has the foil/blades held up on the Babyliss? Have you had to replace them?
I try to but it’s more like 2-3 days at most.if I go any longer, I have to take my trimmers to my head to shorten the hair to make it easier to run the shaver over it.
This style of foil shaver, no. I know they make certain shavers you can use wet or dry. If you want to be able to use it in the shower, look into Skull Shaver brand. That is on my list of purchases.
I am going to order the metallic version today, i have shaved my head with Gillette Fusion 5 but a set of knifes has become so expensive. Think about it, a value pack of 16 knifes in sale is €98,-the normal price is around €114,- 😱. This thing will cost me €101,- together with a bottle of Blade Ice it will cost me round €114,- so the choice is easy! I will use Gillette only for my facial hair but to keep my head smooth and baldy I use the BaByliss 🖐️😁🤚
Great vid! One question if you don't mind. Can I shave head from 1-1,5mm with it or do I have to use something else and this one only to finish it up? Oh and would it be better than braun 7 for daily beard shaving?
@@EnhancedChimp It is, indeed, expensive. However, its performace justifies its high cost. You know, I'd also recommend you try the Braun Series 7. It's half the cost of the Series 9 and it performs just as good. In fact, some consumers claim it's still better than the Series 9.
I use a 5 blade in the shower every 2 days, smooth in about 45 seconds, face, head, neck? Lol. You spend 10 minutes, and say just like that lol, but i have 50 years practice, my blades 1 dollar each, good for 15 shaves, cost me 12 a year, electric beats yer skin, not better, been there done that in 1975, tried a modern 3 foil shaver, no good, too slow, leaves bumps, razor in the shower, the best by far
Awesome video! I have 2 questions: 1. Are you able to reach your neck? and 2. Does it make your neck red? I’m debating between this and the Pitbull Platinum Pro.
Yes I can reach my neck. I usually go over my neck with trimmers first before using the shaver. My neck does get right right after I use the shaver but goes away shortly after.
@@Mphand.416 Thanks for the quick reply! Although the Pitbull Platinum Pro looks ideal for head shaving, I’m just stuck on the Babyliss Pro. And since you can reach your neck and the redness goes away, I’m getting the Babyliss Pro. Thanks again! 😎
@@tdo7125 It’s awesome! Thank god I got this Babyliss Pro instead of the Pitbull Platinum Pro. I shave my head and face every 2 days. No irritation whatsoever and I got super sensitive skin. It cuts so close that it feels like I did it with a razor blade. Definitely worth it!
Bro if it takes you 30-45minutes to shave your head with a blade you're doing it wrong 😂. Guy on RU-vid can do it with a double edge safety razor in less than 3.
try doing that with a healthy and a full head of dark brown, strong hair with 0 loss / receding. It will take you a good amount of time no matter what brush, artisan soap or blade razor combo you are using. I am talking about going 3 passes
@@iwantum I mean I guess. But if you were doing it every other day. Maybe 15min max. My hair is receeded but thick. And I suck at shaving it, takes me maybe 10. Tho I don't bother anymore. Can just use a balding trimmer and do it in 5 but not have it completely bald.
I bought one here in England a few days ago from Amazon and I can confirm that it is as close if not closer than a wet shave with razor. I know this because the barber who wet shaved my head told me to purchase one as he swore by it. I also use the Remington rx5 my Mrs bought me for Xmas, but that tends not to get in the trickier areas well like behind the ears and gives me bumps on the back of my head.
Babyliss fx will cut closer, but will take longer. Braun series 9 is fast and the Pro model cuts 4 days and up to 7 they say. I can vouch for it only taking about 5-6 minutes for a cut of 4 day beard and head growth. You will not be able to do that with the babyliss. Really comes down on what you value more.... money or time. Both machines are great and they both have cons as well as Pros.
Ten minutes? I'm using a wahl shaver/shaper, and it takes me a minimum of twenty to really get the more difficult spots where I want them. I'm struggling to accept that a different brand of double foil could be that much faster. Maybe I'll get faster, I think I've only been doing this six months.
Ten minutes if I do it daily. There have been times where ill wait 3-4 days. Then I have to take my trimmers to shorten the hair and then shave. I go over my head multiple times to make sure its as smooth as I want it.
I used to use shaver but I definitely going to try it again after watching this video thanks. You shave everyday. I have to shave everyday because of stubble
ive tried foil and rotory shavers and they leave my head like clippers with no guard on it so i still have to use a traditional 5 blade razor where it leaves my head smoother
Have you trimmed your hair short as you can get it before using the foil? I have no stubble I use no razers for my head no stubble after with foil? I Kno hair types differ tho
@@josefinafinosa7502 if you can go against the grain without irritation and learn proper technique with them they will leave you completely bald and able to feel no hair. The back of my head is bad at getting ingrown hairs so I can't get it that smooth there but everywhere else is smooth as can be when I'm done
