Thomas, this is amazing techniques and explanation. Also good idea to show short samples in between shooting rather that waiting for the last part to see the full clip. I recently started doing a bit of videos myself, and I was struggling to get stable shots handheld. but they way you do it, just amazes me. Thank you for great hands on tutorial. I can't get nowhere near the way you are doing, practice makes perfect _ I guess. Got a gimball for smooth shots and that solved few issues, but the weight of it kills me after a full day of walking around. Plus XH1, Well you have to sacrifice in some other areas in order to get a desired smooth shooting. Thank you. Will wait for more videos like that from you.

Hey Thomas...just wanted to pop in and say thank you. I've noticed that you took some of the suggestions/requests and applied them over the recent videos...specifically how to shoot in locations other than the forest. There is still one request that I believe would be helpful for most of us...and that is how to shoot these cinematic shots but with subjects as we more often than not travel with family/friends. Great stuff though...thank you!

I’m new to your channel and have enjoyed you videos and educational tips. I have not seen all of your work but am keenly interested in your sound design. Not the main music, but the ambient sounds like traffic, people walking and talking or even your fountain sounds as your individual clips get closer to the water. It really adds to the images and you are quite good at it. Do you use sound effects or live recordings? Maybe if you have already addressed this, could point me to those videos. Again, your content is really head and shoulders above a lot out there that I have seen thus far.

Question. I thought you once said before that you will be talking more about earth oriented things and more meaningful aspects of life besides cameras. Did you open another channel for that???

Just a tip In the tree's flower shot, instead of going out of focus to in focus, do the contrary. Start in focus and go backwards loosing focus. Then, reverse it in the edit. It works like a charm. Keep up the good work! Great video.

Damn I love how you are able to ignore the people who wonder what you are doing. I still get very self conscious about people looking at me while I'm recording. Half the time, I'm not even talking into the camera which I'm sure would be even harder. Maybe you should write a video about that one day mate. Anyway, thanks for the tips. Whoever gave this video a thumbs down is a weak hater with serious mental issues. I've been loving this series!! At times, I came home from a shoot and go through the clips and felt so unsatisfied that I never used them, but I couldn't put my finger on what I was doing "wrong." I'm realizing from your tips that I've been doing silly little things like filming 10-second clips in which I spend 5 seconds looking for the shot. These tips will definitely help me maximize my time and storage, and I'm excited to use them in my next video, so thank you !!

You made that look way too easy. In your cuts, did people complain about being videotaped? I'm always worried some stranger will go off on me if I'm randomly recording and they cross into my view.

Hey, Thomas. For the flower shot, you can always start in focus on the subject and then move backwards and then play the clip in reverse in post so that it looks like you're moving into focus. Just a thought. Daniel Schiffer does a great job explaining it in his videos.

Awesome video Thomas as usual I just wanted to ask because you are not using an ND filter so you just have the aperture on auto yeah? I am so confused at the minute whether to keep using an ND or to just use aperture auto to save time any thoughts tips??
