Amazing job, looks beautiful, cinematography is great, editing is great... I couldn't have done anything better. I do have one constructive criticism though. The edit doesn't lead to anything and there's no story. It seems like a collage of beautiful shots. Maybe if it started with more mystery, closeups, then we see the guy introduced, his lifestyle, then we reveal the bike as a dramatic conclusion? But that's just the way I see things, others would prefer this style :)
Thanks a lot for the kind words. I'm mostly based on cinematography so when I don something, deep down I will think about how can I make something cool from cinematography point of view. The core idea of this commercial is to show the power and looks of the bike. We have more commercials planned with this model and these ones will have ideas at their core but for this one we just wanted to introduce the bike and show a little bit of it's power and beauty. I studied some bike commercials from big brands and big directors before making this and all had similar construction and it made me wonder what they want to transmit thru this. The thing is they don't want to sell you a story, they are selling you a feeling and that's exactly what I tried too. I tried to make the audience feel something thru the images.
@@AlexDon That makes sense. If this style is something people in this industry are used to, you made a good choice. And it's awesome that you did the research. When I say story, I don't necessarily mean a narrative, but more of a flow... Even if it's just a feeling you're looking for, that feeling could grow, not just be a constant. There can be ups and downs in the video, one feeling that leads to another... And again, I'm not saying I would do it better, I just had a thought of what could make it better for me. But for the purpose you're making it, that might not be relevant... Especially if it's an ad that runs on a loop on a screen in store, then having a constant is a good way to go.
Footage looks great. Either captions, narration or both would help with the right message for sales. Not sure if this was an actual commercial or a demo. Shots are beautiful nice work
Your work was amazing, in your jobs and the youtube channel too. I am brazilian and don't speak english very well, but is easy understand you. Keep up your great work
Thanks a lot 🙏 to be honest both camera shot slog3 and have an almost identical image. I just made sure to have them both into the same wb and bam, I had a match
Great Video 😱😍. How do you shoot you style sequences like the second shot which is so blurry. Do you play with the shutter speed of are you doing it in post.
I would suggest that you should have shot the Ronin clips (especially the sweeps around the bike) at 100fps BUT ensuring you are moving the Ronin very fast. You end up with much more stable, glossier product footage of the bike but because you were sweeping the camera quickly, it comes out incredibly smooth. It looks a bit wafty/floaty at 25fps
Thanks a lot, yes I still have the Zcam, I manually focused on that canon. I didn’t find an adaptor to focus canon lenses on sony cameras while filming.
Video looked awesome. Great shots, mood, enviable focus pulling, but I was left thinking: if I buy this bike, will I get bigger muscles? I get that the target audience for commercials are the numb members of the populace that mindlessly consume, and in my (still beginner) experence, my overlords are already pushing me towards basic content targetted at the lowest common denominator, with any story laid out for the most simplistic minds to easily consume. I am constanty trying to inject something more into my videos, often to have them rejected (too different), but I persist. I think that if this video had more of a story to tie the great images together, and give it a bit more substance, that would take it to the next level. I'm not sure how much you get to choose the story, format, etc of the video, but if you have any, then I think you should level up. Anyhoo, thanks for sharing, your work looks great.
Are your Rec 709 LUTS for let’s say people that film with no profile and ready to place Lut on top of footage with no CST or any conversion to rec 709 beforehand?
I see that you are using Sony FX6. Which format are you shooting in . In order to edit in Davinci. I am using Davinci but I'm having a hang up on what format to shoot in.
Thanks a lot 🙏🙏 to be honest on handheld I think ibis makes your camera movements feel weird and so I close it down when I film fast handheld shots. But when I want to get stable shots I put it on 🤔
The music is called The Seige-Run for your life instrumental. For sound design I used a few sounds to increase the intensity and I used some of the internal sound I captured while recording.
@@AlexDon very nice. You should make a video about the whole process, about the music and sound design, how you select the music, the sounds and how to intensify a video with the help of these, in the future maybe ;) until then keep up the good work ;)
Great video... love all the shots and the style and the lack of slow motion.. you are right it creates intensity. If I had to give feedback, I would say a few more close ups of the bike. Especially the front head light. for example maybe the opening shot could be the head light switched on on and then the ending shot could be the light being switched off. There is one shot at 1:07 where you show the bike.. the bike is off and the lights are off, that didn't make sense to me. Because all shots before the bike is powerful and the light is on.. then you have this shot where the light if off and the bike feels lifeless and then again the remaining shots are all with the bike on and powerful.. Also in the sound design.. I wish I could hear the roar/exhaust of the bike louder.. the music tends to take over.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! Yeah totally agree, a few more close up shots would have been great but you realise this only when you finish shooting and get back home :)) Regarding the shot where the bike feels dead, it was actually open but it was super sunny so the leds are not visible.
first of all, love the visuals, everything on point there! But as the previous guy said, no story. I don't know what I'm watching. Bike Boxing Bike Boxing...like whut? Maybe a voice-over or something might help guide the story? I don't know what you're trying to tell here. You train your bike like you train your body? hmmmm and the cuts are abrupt too, too many quick cuts with no purpose, intensity does not need to come only from quick cuts. Anyways, still loved the visuals
I gave a really cool explanation to Luka, the guy who pointed the story issue. The core idea is not to sell a story on this kind of commercials, I want to sell a feeling, and what feeling the bike gives you when you see it, when you ride it and so on. And that feeling is power and control. I studied a lot of bike commercials before doing this and the ones I found the coolest ones where the ones build similar to this.
