I LOVE nostalgia puzzles. With those puzzles I first sort my ends out then I usually sort my pieces by which side I want to start on, left or right. It can take a while but it's just how I prefer to work that kind of puzzle. How I work other puzzles often depends on the subject matter, however I often sort by puzzle shape after my border pieces are pulled out.
Great puzzle, I like that type of image. 👍 The only time I would colour sort is for a gradient puzzle. The rest of the time I put all the pieces on either four or six large trays, turn them all over, pick an area of the image and get busy. 🐝As I always count all jigsaws that I get, I don't need to find the outside pieces as I have already done that in the counting process. The pieces are all spread out on the trays so I can see every piece clearly. The trays get stacked as I work but not a problem, they just get moved from table to chair and back again. Depends on what sort of space you have. I've used this method for years and it suits me. 🥰
Cool! I just got a box of trays but I haven’t opened them yet. Have you ever counted and then come up short? Or counted and not had the exact number but it had all the pieces anyway?
@@jennyjigsaw When I buy a used jigsaw I usually make sure that the seller says it is complete and, even better, has a photo of the jigsaw. I've had some mis-counts but not too many really. I did have a brand new jigsaw that had a lot wrong with it, 1000 pieces but had 980 pieces, 7 outside doubles, 4 outside missing, 45 inside doubles, 70 inside missing and 2 stray pieces. The company in question was most apologetic, a rare occurrence and sent a replacement. I started to laugh when I kept finding the doubles! 🤣 Never had that before in over 50 years of puzzling.
I start with the edges first can I put pieces together as I go on and a picture of part of the picture that I find I can fix faster than the rest I complete it and put it aside and when I come closer to the pieces that I am working on I tried to work them together and go on like that
Hey Jenny I Do my Puzzles the old Fashioned way I get all the Straight edges first and do those and then start Sorting the Best I Can one thing I do Differently is I just put them all out piece side up and try to put the puzzle Together by piece and Color I like to Do 500 piece puzzles one Thousend piece puzzles 15OO piece puzzles And 2000 piece puzzles I haven't Done a Two Thousend piece one yet but want to Do you think I should try a Different Method ?
Sounds like a tried and true method to me! I just don’t have the patience to flip them all picture side up - I’m too excited to start putting things together!!
Ack it’s been awhile and I didn’t time it. I do my puzzles on nights and weekends so it’s hard to tell. I think it took me about a week and a half. It was so fun!
