Glad you swapped from the containers to a proper dehumidifier. Margarita Nazarenko, a lady here on RU-vid, had an awful time with one that exploded and destroyed her Birkin 😱. Nice storage tips but I don’t think I’ll be shopping at CHANEL any time soon given their new prices. Have my eye on a little DIOR evening clutch though so these tips are still handy. When you pull in the chain of the double flap to store it inside, do it in both sides. Otherwise in the long term, the flap becomes lopsided. You are the only person I came across who also stores them in the box as I do. I also bought a dehumidifier and run it regularly as it is summer now in Toronto. I’m still not sure if I should keep them in their box or store them in the dust bag only and let them breath? So stressful 😂 You have beautiful collection btw

I love how you take care of your bags! And I didn’t think about such little things as marks on the leather from the flaps or pearls digging into the leather, or the top zippers on classic flaps. Great video)
Do not get too paranoid ( just kidding as you mentioned it a handful of times). When I lived in Dubai I had the same issues with humidity and extreme sunlight. Now I live in Europe again and I just keep them in my dressing room without problems.

My pleasure hon. It’s a good question, actually I don’t have the bags in this leather. However I have a few shoes. With dehumidifier it’s fine, they still look like new. You just have to make sure no other colour is touching the leather when storing it in the box, otherwise it will imprint on your bag and there is nothing that you can do to remove it.
Hello,glad to see your video.This is a nice video,during these troublingly times of illness,virus,so many worries, it is dissapointing that Chanel and other fashion houses are actually taking advantage of customers around,the world,with insulting price adjustments that are unjustifiable in the quality out the product they produce. At this time Im embarrassed to keep purchasing these items, never say never but the want to be so exclusive, they may put thier self out of business. I see where you are coming from, but Chanel is obviously trying to change their clientele. They want their bags to be more exclusive to wealthy customers, who aren't probably that concerned about the price increase (not affected to the coronavirus as much as the average person). So even if it's frustrating I don't see it as a bad or good thing. It's their choice.
@@reginap.255 completely agree with you. I was complaining to my bf but he said people who can afford it, won't care about the price increases. Which is true. Thankfully I was able to locate my dream bag recently so I can feel at rest. Probably no more new chanel for me unless it's preloved at a good deal! Even preloved nowadays are insanely expensive!
After you put your bag in the dust bag and the chain in the other side of the dust bag. How do you store the whole thing in the box? Do you put them lying down on the box and the chain part on top of it?
I put it in the box and I just lay it flat. I put the chain in the white dust bag, in the second compartment, to keep it away from the leather and avoid imprints.
Do you guys condition your Chanel bags ? I ve heard Chanel say their bags don’t need conditioning but when pressed say their recommend Cadillac luxury leather conditioner.. I ve used it on my other bags and so far it S amazing. I ve heard many times any leather benefits from conditioning - what is your guys experience ?
Styled4Life I have been keeping some of my bags for over 5 years in the boxes and nothing happened to them. The dehumidifier helps a lot. The bright sunshine can discolour your bag. My colleague’s bag got completely destroyed from being exposed to it (a lambskin classic flap). I don’t like the aesthetic of the bags in the dust bags. It’s just me 😆
I heard you should not store your bags in the boxes so I've been doing that. I'm going to store them in their boxes again and get a dehumidifier as I'm in Florida. I never know how to store my empty boxes so this will solve that problem. Plus it's hard to determine what box goes with what bag. Thank you!!!
I Heard the same and don’t do it for that reason! I think the reason is to let the leather breathe. I store them in their dust bags in a cupboard on shelves not too close together and I make sure to often leave the cupboard open over night for ventilation. Also I Switch out my bags a lot to give them more air. Hope it S ok .. By the way I hope the dehumidifier isn’t working with any chemicals ? Margarita nazarenko shared a horror story of a dehumidifier ruining her birkin (it exploded - but I think yours is working „mechanically“ not chemically?
I still have some bags that I don’t keep in the boxes (I didn’t keep them). There is no difference in the condition of these and those that I keep in the boxes. Except it’s not aesthetically pleasing in my view
I am not comfortable using sprays for my bags. I am not sure if this is not harmful for the leather long term. I prefer to shorten the straps so that the bag doesn’t touch my clothes. Congratulations on your beige flap. It’s so beautiful and timeless ❤️
