Things I ve learned from this video regarding the skills of increasing my productivity 1. Frequent change of the way I study , place etc. 2. Finding a study mate, discuss topics, study together with someone highly focused on her work. 3.Take care of your Body( by exercising, getting nutritois food & sleep) and mind( meditate,pray , do Yoga etc). 4. Gamefying your study by for eg rewarding yourself when you achieve small targets etc. Thanks for this video

Hi, thanks for sharing. I enjoying watching all your vids. Would you be open to allowing a undergrad student shadow you? I go to the UofM in rochester and do work within Mayo. I aspire to be a med student at Mayo in the future and it would be amazing to be be able to see what its like or any more advice you may have. If not, I totally understand. Hope you continue to excel within you last year!

Very helpful tips! Was wondering if you can help with a situation though …so I’m a junior in undergrad as a premed and I took trig and calculus as a math req because my advisor said it would be helpful for me… finding out late that statistics is one of the most required classes in premed i really don’t know what to do at this point cause my class schedule for the next year is insane! So what do you recommend…. Should I take stats under any condition or my calc can override that requirement and i should be good ? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the helpful tips, Dr. Smith! I am an IMG from Bologna Italy. What is your take on the quote-unquote "Holy trinity of US meds"(Adderall, Melatonin, and Zoloft)? Do you mind sharing with me the list of stuff you used for the theory while studying for Steps 1 and 2?

Thank you❤. I really needed this video! I’m in my 2nd semester and am trying to find new ways to study to stay focused and be more efficient. How often are you studying in groups?
@EvolvingMedic
@EvolvingMedic 4 месяца назад
I’m so happy this was a timely video for you! But it really depends on what I’m learning. If it’s something I feel very confident in, I may study more alone, but if it’s something where my colleagues have more experience/understanding, I find I end up learning better with them!

The problem is that I don’t consider Campus as studying hours, because I’m not actively putting in the info. The knowledge isn’t gained until I sit and memorize this info. I can barely put extra hour blocks around campus during the day so it feels like a marathon and I’m slowly losing this race while being burnt out on weekends. Makes me so stressed even more so it’s kinda messed up :). If you have a video about how to get out of burnout, it’d be helpful. And hopefully I be able to keep up with this…
@EvolvingMedic
@EvolvingMedic 4 месяца назад
I’m sorry that it feels like you’ve been playing catch up in a never ending race! Really trying to fill your cup with rest and activities that fulfill you (exercise, time with loved ones, etc.) really help bring you out of burnout. And then hopefully you’ll be less stressed and able to learn while on campus so your studying at home is less so playing catch up and more so just fine tuning!

I have a question doc, I'm your junior from India currently in grade 12, Im really proud of seeing your journey from medschool to Mayo Ortho. I would be giving my USMLE in med school, is it even possible for IMGs to get something like what you've got I mean top branch at top institute, I dont care about the competition, I know Ill work hard but good step scores and CV, (research,LORS,electives etc) . But are the top institutions even open for us foreigners? Thanks a lot doc, I admire you to the fullest.
@EvolvingMedic
@EvolvingMedic 4 месяца назад
Hey! I’m glad you reached out with this question! Some programs are more open to IMG students than others, but there are still elite programs that take IMG students. I recommend looking at the residents at the programs and in the specialty that you are interested in and seeing if there are any IMGs
