My pomodoros are almost always 45 to 50 minutes of studying then a 10 minute break. The 25/5 method is not enough time to get into a flow state, but past 60 minutes you start to lose focus. Having longer pomos is something Cal Newport states in his book How to Be a Straight A Student
That only works for 50% of people 50% percent of the time according to this study: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dQw4w9WgXcQ.htmlsi=Z08A9h28ko_kWFrf Thats why i do 5 mins on and 1 minute breaks
i have a very short attention span so 25/5 works for me, but the 5 min breaks shouldnt involve screentime so you wouldn't lose you momentum, it's better to take a short walk or do a short exercise, also it's important that when you are using pomodoro, you are in deep focus mode
agree about the pomodoro thing: it takes me quite some time to even get into focus and then the timer's up. i usually just do the minimal possible step to get started and then can sit for 2 to 3 hours (breaks r important tho). and feynman techinque always works amazingly
I completely agree! I've seen so many videos that just give normal time management tips, and it's so refreshing to see someone actually sharing practical techniques and hacks. The flashcard acronyms and the FAME method are absolute game-changers.
I've watched a ton of the 2 hour study videos you mentioned/showed at the beginning but this video by far is the best, especially because I use the stuff you talked about myself and my grades have really improved. Keep going! 👍
My recommendation is just to cram (but effectively). That way you can just relax or do what ever you want most of the time and have like 2 weeks where you study extremely intensively. Some people call it stupid, but it worked out very well for me and I had all the time in the world most of the year to do what ever the hell I wanted.
Video was so f*cking good i had to watch it again! UGH I LOVE THIS MAN!! Straight forward, no bs, no stupid backstories and stupid stories about expirements👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
thank you srsly for the realistic tips bro. a lot of channels just tell us what to do and don't tell us how to do it. you gave some good tips. i'll be sure to use these for my upcoming exams!
i follow a similar studying technique except every 55m i take a 5m "break" and think to myself whilst meditating everything i have learnt so far and its meaning
I just love the topic that i'm majoring in and the work field that i'm going into, which helps me having more time to socialize and be more active in organizations, since i study during the remaining free time. Tired is a given, there'll always be days that u're not at top condition but that's where the passion comes in and it was the connections that took me further after my graduation.
Read a paragraph or a slide, look away, try to explain out loud what the paragraph or slide was saying, and repeat this process. Don't simply read passively. Read actively by thinking through each paragraph as you read. You will remember so much more.
Finally a video with some real facts and techniques, i watched alot of videos about study ,how to be topper and etc ,most of it doest even focus on the root problem , just so many aesthetic study materials and cute videos ....thanks everyone all the best for all of you who are watching this ,do well for you exams...
i'm glad i stumbled across this video because i had just started using pomodoro recently and would sometimes feel bad about not doing it properly (i would hit the 25 minute mark a few times and just go "no, i don't feel like stopping" and keep resetting the timer). this reminded me that it's fine to alter study techniques to your liking, regardless of how famous they are, so long as you're still achieving your goals and not burning yourself out
Not gonna lie... I watched the whole videos he showed at the start but none of them was actually as logical as this one, this is the last video i watch about this topic so thanks for the helpful information 🙏🏽
I am surprised actually because these are the things that I actually did before watching this video, and it reallyyyyyy helps. As someone who is really lazy and only studies when the exam is in a week, I really recommend these techniques!
I make a promise to myself that starting from tomorrow (as it’s 11:25pm right now) I’ll make it my goal to at least study for 1 hour and anything maximum of 2 hours.I have no upcoming tests as it’s the holidays but the holidays are coming to an end so I want to make sure I stick to this. Im just writing this here so I can feel like this is official.
Boys, consistency is the most important out of all. There are going to be days you feel like it ain’t worth to grind out that 2 hour session, but we need to remember that our little incompetence will pile up and become our big demise. “Another day” will be the phrase we hate the most when looking back to our failures. Fuck motivation, that shit is only temporary. You KNOW you need to study, so get up and say “fuck my life” and open the notebook. Let’s get it.
according to dr justin sung , flashcards are mostly usefull at the beginning, but their effect diminishes after you use them alot or solely rely on them
I'm just now realizing that these advice aren't good if you're an Artist. It's also not good if you're Neuro Divergent. I recommend something I created called Crown Studies. It gave me A's in classes where I had to memorize stuff. Basically how it works is have a list of words or whatever you have to study. Test yourself one word at a time, starting with the first one. If you get it wrong you start over, if you get it right you continue forward. If you are ten words in and you have one more word left and you get it wrong you start all the way over to the first word. I keep doing that until I make it to the top. Honestly Memory Based Class are the easiest classes in Uni. It doesn't even compare to creative base classes.
You didn't explain it enough. Do I really have to study for 2 hours for one subject every day? What if I have about 5-6 subjects, and let's say 4 of them are extremely difficult? What should I do? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
This video is just for people who want to study 2 hours per day and have a more balanced life. But if that is not enough for you, you can study more bro. If it were me I would focus on the 4 hard subjects the most, and do 2 of them at least 1 hour a day. for the easy subjects I would try to review them sometimes even if its just for 30 minutes, every few days. I hope that helps bro. But don't forget you're gonna have to try things out yourself and figure out what works for you. I can give you what helped me but it might not work the same for your situation. Good luck man.
Honestly if you like something you could go on a 5h a day research into it without feeling bad at all. School is extremely easy when it’s a subject you spend time on. 2 hours a day should be a lot already. I take 4 classes at a time and 30 minutes per class is like 3 times what I do rn.
One time in germany we had to learn like the neighbor countries, I used acronyms and it was so easy and helpful. I was the only kid that knew them but the word was like DPTÖSFLBN so a bit hard to pronounce
Personally agree that breaks ruin the deep work I never took the breaks In my study sessions If I took one I end up wasting whole 1 to 2 hours so I just wanna say keep posting
But if you study even when there’s no test then your gonna have to study so many things and then how do u finished like 6 different subjects worth of stuff so that u understand it in 2 hours.
Not going to lie, if you have the discipline to to all the work they set for your and then your use 2 hours of your own time to fill in the gaps, and you give it a solid try, no distractions, then I don't see why it wouldn't be impossible for more people to get straight As.
Hey hear me out see i know a guy called ruff he didn't say thing ok but he said like you are not be to study 2 hour get good grades it might take 3 or 4 because everyones attention span is just so low but i his before video he literally tell us how to build attention span over time
I think it works for some people and if it works for you thats awesome. But it’s strengths really shine when you study for long periods of time like 4-8 hours. Personally I prefer a long session of deep work.
How should I do it, when I have more than one subject to study (for example biology and math)? Should I study 2 hours per subject and than do a big break and repeat?
How to learn mathematics, starting from scratch, 350 pages. The exam is open book and I am really not good at maths and don't like it. I have 2 days left. what is your advise or where can I (on the internet) find communities to get help?
Can you explain what are flashcards I want to use them and how do I utilise them? I am also a straight A student just that I have to study a lot on the last day
Any tips to excel in math? I already know the fundamentals it's just the questions test you on a higher thinking level so I failed my addmaths. Ik I need to do more questions but is there a clean and proper way to execute it?
What I would do is find all the videos I could on youtube about the current topic, and before they solve the problems I would solve and see if I came to the same conclusion as them. Tbh math is quite difficult because a lot of professors will include problems that weren't covered in class so you need to study even further into the subject if you want to do well. But that is just imo, I hope it could help in some way.
