I agree with your statement. My mom gave me daily affirmations as to how beautiful I am and smart & capable of anything. Those words stuck with me to this day...never once did I doubt anything she said even when my weight fluctuated during my undergrad studies. You really need to start early to encourage kids. Not sure if I would be so confident now if my mom hadn't made me feel like I was perfectly created in her eyes.

We need to learn to keep our opinions about other people’s bodies/skin colour to ourselves. And instil this principle to the minds of young rising generations who look up to us; that’s where they get the influence of bullying, body shaming and colourism.

I’ve noticed how bbls in other countries make a big difference for women. A hun can get a bbl and she could be a influencer or pull a rich dude. In South Africa it won’t do much because most women here have naturally small waists and big bums. If I saw a hun in South Africa with a bbl I wouldn’t even notice. The bodies a lot of women pay for is so common in South Africa.

So true in the 70s 80s our parents drilled it into our heads that black is beautiful and we never looked back. I did it for my youngest daughter and I got her a black doll, I don't regret. Good luck ladies.
@janayserrano

@@xoliswanengudza5877 you’re lucky. Growing up my mother used to tell me that I don’t have good hair and that she regrets giving birth to me. My father is biracial and I came out with my mothers hair type and darker skin tone but my fathers face. My father wasn’t in my life growing up and it’s another reason she took her anger out on me. She hated my father and she hated that I wasn’t the ‘mixed’ child that she dreamed of having.

@TheSmileycece
@TheSmileycece 2 года назад
@Kokiinieze.r it's the most dangerous cosmetic procedure in terms of the risks associated. There's a lot of the main veins that go to heart located in your bum and because they're operating on so many parts at once the recovery isn't easy. The use your own fat and if that fat dies inside you before it attaches back into the new area things are messed up. The biggest risk is the veins or arteries and the fact people usually travel very soon after getting it done. They are at risk of blood clots etc. Do your research. I'm not trying to scare you. I may not have the medical language and I'm trying to keep my comment accessible but if you just look at some BBC interview and look at the statistics from independent sources you will find out. It is a fact that this is the most dangerous procedure though. And most people have to do more than 1 round because after you get the surgery if you want to lose weight we'll your bum loses some and also if the fat was burned by your body and didn't attach properly to the other fat cells already existing then you have to go back to try and get it bigger and get the shape better. The risk increases.

Sometimes improving your appearance with physical surgery can heal the soul Me for example I used to have this huge ugly gap in my front teeth People use to make fun of me I never felt pretty or beautiful and my mother certainly never help me with my self confidence growing up and at some point made it worse I saved up money and got braces, put on a bit of weight and people are now telling how beautiful l am It makes me feel good about myself not because people say l am beautiful now but because I feel beautiful and confident

Its ouk to admit that society plays a huge role in our self esteem. It does. You were not confident because in the eyes of society you were not beautiful, but now that people say you are beautiful you feel confident. Its all about what people say about us, we can deny it all we want but its true. There is nothing like improving your looks for you, we always improve our looks for people.

I would have 100% agreed she's secure in her (new) skin but when she mentioned she had to go and reintroduce herself to her ancestors.....made me realise insecurities are skin deep. Xoli is the one whose level headed about her BBL especially when she said she never modelled her body appearance after anyone. Guess thats why it looks very natural coz it blends with her body. Why are we so hasty to weaponize being '' insecure' as if it isn't a natural and common experience for a lot of us women. But since yall want to be so vocal, ask yourself, when was the last time you told another woman that she was beautiful, that she was enough. Self-esteem is not built in isolation, so instead of wasting your breath criticizing people for being insecure, use your voice to help build the esteem of another. A compliment will not kill you.

Going under the knife to look a certain way will always be an indicator of some level of insecurity. The physical trauma that comes from a procedure such as a bbl is a lot. The amount of money is a lot. You wouldn’t really go to those lengths if you were happy and accepting of your body. It’s so important to look within before undergoing these procedures, who’s to say you will be happy after it. Many celebs who have done it are constantly going back under the knife trying to “fix” or “better” themselves.

Why do people who hate their physical appearances like lying about the obvious : they are not happy with their physical being hence they change it. It is okay to admit that u hate your skin tone or body figure. You change what you don't like or what you hate. They look good, and it's good for them n their self esteem. We all know that society is mostly responsible for crushing our confidence hence we get so self conscious.

Then with growing up being darker I was always bullied and would be clean "xintimama" or "black cat" and I was also surrounded by people who would bleached themselves but what motivated me to believe that my colour is just too beautiful is when I grew up and seeing more darker models. I thank God for giving me the courage of passing that temptation of bleaching my skin tone or attempting to use things to enlarge my bum or gain weight.

Both ladies made these decisions based partly on what others thought of them (bullies in XO's case and being compared to a lighter skinned mother as if she was not deserving). We need to be kinder to little girls, they really take that stuff to the grave. Just imagine if nothing negetive was said? Their journeys would be different...let's think before we speak especially to kids. I don't believe their claim of being confident, I think they have normalized deep insecurities and trauma. I wish them well thou.

I do believe that they are confident now since they both got what they want or atleast the lady in black did and the other lady can be considered confident that before her skin lightening journey 🤔 maybe she'll be more confident when she's MJ complexion level but I'm more worried about her because she actually said 'It's never enough' which shows signs a possibility of addiction 🤔

It would be wonderful if dark skin girls would lean into emphasizing their strengths, I find they can pull off more colors than lighter skinned women. A great example is bright yellow. The darkest skinned women also look leaner, more athletic and They also age a lot slower. My personal standard of beauty have always been dark women and curly hair.
@irenemosasejake89
@irenemosasejake89 2 года назад
As a dark skinned person it’s not as easy as this, most dark skinned people if not all, had to know more or “develop a personality” because they were not chosen from the start. And it’s not as easy as dating, it’s in class, not being the first option for any team, nobody wanting to play with you etc, you get older then see how people ignore you like you don’t exist so you send your lighter friend to go order for you, you see the differences in how you are treated. conversations were your beauty is centred around being “dark skinned” whereas everyone else is just beautiful. Why must a dark skinned person say something smart before people notice them? You being attracted to dark women does nothing for the person because they are still existing within a world where they are constantly reminded their inferior.
@B-I-G-N-A-S-T-Y

@@irenemosasejake89You make it sound like a disease. I'm trying to say it's a strength. Bullying is a problem, but it happens regardless of how you look. I speak from experience, avoiding people my own age when I was younger allowed me to focus on my education, which I'm grateful for. It is a strength, I'm saying natural hair, dark skin is the first thing that attracts me to a woman. Once I've approached her it's all down to chemistry. I'm not basing my love on a phenotype, it takes more than being attracted to each other on a superficial level. Irene, I'm sorry people treat you poorly. I'm sure you're far more interesting than them after having to develop a personality and knowledge.

Awelani is not as articulate and that is why it is easy to ridicule her. I feel like Relebogile had no right to challenge her Michael Jackson aspirations. Who has the threshold to body modification? If she wants to, why not? Xoli was hurt by people who ridiculed her for getting a BBL which wasn't visible but she's here pulling faces about another woman's aspirations. She should do better. This interview should be an eye-opener for Releogile.
